This was my first job in Canada. This gave me the opportunity to meet diversified people and I got valuable work experience. Being a cashier, sometimes I would have to carry items out to customers' cars so, this taught me to cooperate with certain customers' needs. All the co-workers were very nice and helpful and I enjoyed their company. Management was very helpful and cooperated with me as they understood that this was my first job in Canada and they paid attention to my needs as a student as well because I was studying at the same time as working part-time. The hardest part of the job was lifting heavy objects. The most enjoyable part of the job was learning new things for the first time, meeting and helping new people and, overall, learning how the customer service industry works.

Autonomy to get things done! Mgmt. belief, trust and support of all layers of the employee base.


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Staying ahead of the competition with so many of them in the marketplace. Need to continue to bring on exclusive, unique, valued, sought after product and merchandised in an accessible and a best in class manner…creating a WOW experience.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Fast paced, entrepreneurial, collegial, focused, inclusionary and collaborative culture prevailed with team and company goals as the focus and mission

did a lot of baking, merchandising and dealing with customers learned a lot of managing skills, scheduling, doing inventory, ordering, . working with different personalities helped me a lot to treat everyone as an individual with their qualities and faults.. the hardest part of the job was to keep everyone motivated and happy on the job. the most enjoyable part of the job was that you dealt with so many people and the time went by fast because there was always something to do.. fast world at the time....

As a cashier in a grocery store a typical day was helping customer pay for their groceries and answering any questions that may have.  At the end of your shift you have to count your till and balance ot the end of the day.  We also had to make our own float for the next shift we were working.  It was a nice store to work for, management and my co-workers were all nice and easy to work with.  The hardest part was standing in one spot during your shift.  The most enjoyable was working with the public.

Employee driven position including set up of phone system, parking security, office security. Eight floors of employees become familiar with the function of the job. Eventually, contributed to the downsizing of entire corporate office by coordinating moves, cancellation of contracts, recycling to alternate locations of office furniture, etc.

Good hard working atmosphere, store is now closed and banner switched to Food Basics.  Good buyout at the time (2003)   Unionized environment, some bad management personnel, but overall a good place to work

Loeb was my first job and I think it as a great first job. I learned a lot about hard work, multitasking, working as part of a team and customer service. My fellow coworkers were an awesome team, as was the upper management I worked under.

Customer service, cutting, merchandising, ordering, scheduling, inventories, training, quality assurance, up selling. Trained in other fresh departments and completed food safety audits

Always room for advancement, which I took advantage of over my 9 1/2 years of employment. Great bosses and wages. Always received a yearly raise, as well as awesome benefit package.

A great first job . Alot of team work development skils to learn tha can be used in the futer with othr employment. was union so hours worked ment pay increse and benifits.
