I went into this role wanting to do good work in a company that openly speaks about values, respect, and employee care. What I actually experienced was an environment where those ideas existed primarily in language, not in practice.

From the inside, the culture felt rigid, hierarchical, and emotionally unsafe. Concerns raised in good faith were not handled with curiosity or accountability. Instead, there was a noticeable shift in how you were treated once you spoke up — less support, more pressure, and an unspoken expectation to quietly fall back in line.

HR did not function as a supportive or neutral resource. Interactions left me feeling exposed rather than protected, and it became clear that the safest option was silence. That dynamic alone should give any prospective employee pause.

Leadership frequently emphasized optics, image, and control, while remaining largely disconnected from the realities faced by employees on the floor. The management structure was heavy and inefficient, yet responsibility and consequences rarely traveled upward.

Burnout was not an exception — it was normalized. Morale was visibly low, and many capable employees expressed some version of the same sentiment: they were tired, discouraged, and counting down the time until they could leave.

This may be an acceptable environment for people who prefer not to question systems or advocate for themselves. For anyone who values transparency, psychological safety, and being treated like a human being rather than a liability, this was not a healthy place to work.

In my experience the workplace culture here is very friendly and open. Most, if not all of my co-workers are super friendly and easy to work with, management are collaborative rather than overbearing, and both management and co-workers have been understanding and don't blow up over mistakes.

The hardest, and one of the most enjoyable parts of the job is the amount of flexing that is required. It is entirely possible that you could end working at four different work stations over the course of the week (different work station every day) which can be a challenge, but also in my opinion can make the work more interesting and engaging.

The wages could probably be a little bit higher, but I think that that is less of a problem with Loewen Windows (I've found that there wages are in the middle/higher end of competitive for the area) and more of a problem with inflation on fuel and food going out of control this year. 

Overall good job, and work culture, would recommend I to a friend.

Most of the time, the work is fairly straightforward and easy to learn.
However, getting anything done in a timely manner, or having people do their jobs right the first time and not create extra work for you? Next to impossible.

Departments don't communicate at all and expect other departments to pick up after their mistakes, leadership only promotes their buddies, and if you get good at a boring, monotonous job, you'll get stuck there for 10-30 years with no prospects of ever leaving that role.

Some days, it's as bad as having to pull your own teeth with rusty pliers. There's almost no encouragement or support from leadership across the plant (minus a few select people, they're really good), and it seems like leaders like to shift blame to employees whenever possible.

Forget going to HR if your leader says or does something you don't agree with. Have watched people get walked out of the building (with severance, mind you) for daring to go to HR about their bosses. But there's always some other reason or excuse as to why they fired a good employee.


I have worked for several companies throughout my career, and Loewen is one of the best places I have worked at. The work culture is respectful and welcoming, and I am consistently treated as a valued member of the team. I truly enjoy working with my colleagues, and there is a strong sense of connection and collaboration across the organization.
One of the things I appreciate most is how well departments work together. People are friendly, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping one another succeed.
Loewen has provided me with meaningful opportunities to grow my career within the organization. My leader is very supportive and trusts me with full autonomy in how I approach my work and manage my responsibilities. My role is challenging in the best way. It keeps me engaged, motivated, and continuously learning.
I feel I am compensated fairly for the work I do, and the benefits are competitive. Most importantly, Loewen fosters an open and approachable culture where employees feel heard. If I ever have a question or concern, I know I can speak with my leader, HR, or even members of the executive team, which I truly appreciate

They like to underpay their employees and predent like they are offering a fair and competetive wage where they are not.

When spoke to my manager about a raise I was told that I need to be more proficient. However he couldn't specify which areas I need to improve. So I was told that I will receive a raise on my anniversary. 
1 month before my scheduled raise I was let go without a cause. 

12 minute brakes and 25 minute lunch disrespectful for anyone.

Benefits are surprisingly bad for how many people work there. I had the highest option and sure it was cheap but it barely covered anything. 

Production gets lots of extra perks like extra brakes depending on the temperature of the production facility and cash initiatives for working overtime. 

Other departments like maintenance that also have to be there to support production don't get any of those perks. When asked my manager if our department could receive cash initiative for working overtime just like production department have his face changed and said "I can ask our maintenance manager for it" 

The next day I was gone.

It was my first time working here in Canada and I was very surprised by how friendly, and accommodating my co-workers were. We were producing frames for beautiful windows and I was assigned alone in a work station that was involved in fabricating mouldings to frames. I learned to a lot of things like the Canadian way of doing things; when it comes to work it really means you have to produce according to your worth which was fine by me. I learned that my superiors were very supportive of us; they welcomed our questions and suggestions, they did not mind the countless mistakes I made as long as I learned from them. The job was not that hard really because of the people and the culture which I was very fortunate to be a part of. I enjoyed almost all aspects of the job. Its just that we had to move to Winnipeg because of the opportunities to be had for Im a Registered Nurse by profession and I wanted to pursue this profession to support my family. It was with a heavy heart when I left Loewen.

The work is generally pretty easy, depending on the department, but management is some of the worst I've ever experienced. They like to promote an inclusive job culture, but they also really like firing anybody who dares go to HR with a formal complaint. Lots of higher ups are on power trips and like to bring bad attitudes to work and make it everybody else's problem. My immediate supervisor when working there often took the morning meetings to make everyone feel like the smallest issues was caused by our incompetence and treated us like children in a daycare. When we were obviously not in great moods after meetings like these, they would pull you into the office and recommend therapy, assuming we had troubles at home. I highly recommend not working here unless you absolutely NEED a job. It's not worth the headache dealing with these types of people day in and day out

If you want to work there, you need to be a "yes sir". If you try to speak against something either you would get fired or you would get silent treatment. Management pretends to be something that they are not. 
Your onboarding process will be great, they will paint a bright picture about your future but your first day at work will be completely different then what you would have thought it would be.
NEVER talk about your personal life because there is no confidentiality within the company. Your word will spread like fire. Constant rotation of production workers should tell you that it is not for everybody.
They do pay better than most of the local businesses but for bonuses you have to work really hard.
If you are lucky enough you will meet some nice people.

I would start up my Computer and check what is still out there for them to build and then get going with planning and coordinating the next batch of work. I learned being organized is very important to effectively do my Job,  Management was good and that created a good work-environment and the same goes for me and my co-workers. In order for us to be able to work good together, we needed to have good communication.The hardest part of my Job for me is when there is disunity among the People and the most enjoyable part was when people communicated well and enjoyed working together and when I closed my work station at the end of the day knowing I had a productive day. Happy People make a happy work-environment.

Working for Loewen Windows was an interesting job to have worked at. That is one big warehouse company to work for and many people working in different jobs. When I started working there I had no experience in glass. My job was the green line meaning putting metal frames to wood and then putting together.  It was heavy work and tedious at time and repeating. Near the end I hurt myself from the bang the metal frames into place, so I was later moved to light work on the sash line.  They were very good to their employees and the pay was good and hours were long evening shift.
