Logistics in Motion

Manager was absolutely rude and favoritism to some employees. 
Nothing is worse then washing dishes and hearing multiple employees receive praise while others are being criticized. 3 years experience, i had the most out of any employee working there, but i just started working at Logistics' Tim Horton's. After the second day i had thoughts of quitting. i kept giving my manager the benefit of the doubt because she is a manager after all. She got nastier and nastier and made it bad to want to work there longer. on top of it all, she forgot my uniform pants and i had to wear some of my own from home for the first week out of the two that i worked. ive seen some people come in adidas tights leggings and other non acceptable uniforms.  Often forgetting orders, and having the employees scramble to find things. it made it harder because its a small Tim's inside the warehouse. Yelling at one employee when no one was around after she asked her a question about an item on the menu on the cash till so she wouldn't make a mistake when it gets busy. instead of simply turning around she yells "What". Grown woman, eyes watering innocently as she wanted to make sure she was doing the right thing on the till. often replying with what, i said out loud "we need ice" in hopes she'll lead me. instead im given a "go get it" 
i was emailed later that day by one of the job recruiters of the company who also shared the same last name as the store owner(not sure of the relation) she tells me my manager complained that i was acting unusual, and i checked the freezer for ice. 
apparently i was acting unusual because while adjusting to the till, and taking longer then any experienced employee on that till.
the email added "i looked into the freezer for ice"
If you're a new employee and you ask for ice and aren't given directions keep in mind this is my 2nd day. i used my common sense and checked the freezer for ice.. That was so bad she had to email them telling them that and i explained the situation. i later asked another employee and he directed me. a small black machine which held ice. Really a stupid complaint. Never brought up any concerns with me. yelled at us constantly and couldn't have the audacity to come to me with something so small because she wanted to get me in trouble maybe? it was my 2nd day so i had a big level of concern. the fact that 2000+ characters has been written shows how bad the managment was.

A typical day at this place would require me to attend a brief meeting and get my equipment (headset and jack pallet). All orders are provided over the headset, so you don't have much interaction with a supervisor unless you need more work to do or you have a question about something. 

I learned how to operate a jack pallet and to do better research on a company before accepting a position with them. I guess the first red flag was when I sent my resume to the agency they deal with and a few days later they were offering me a position. No interview or anything was conducted, but I now understand why. This company has such a high turnover rate, why spend time on interviewing. 

My orientation class had about 50 people in it and every week for a while the classes were about that big. During the first couple of weeks it was quite clear that the employees were not happy and morale was quite low. When you are told by an employee WELCOME TO H*** this says a lot about a company. There were also quite a few employees who told me they were only there for the money. 

I had no issues with management the little interaction that I did have with them. 

The only enjoyable part of the job was knowing that I was getting paid at the end of the week. Pay day was every Friday.

If you are an energizer bunny then apply otherwise don't bother.

A day at work in the operation has to have a smooth flow. Working with others is essential for the pacing of the shift.  In order to get orders and shipments out on time, machines are maintained to ensure their working order and there’s pre shift housekeeping. 
After working for over 8 years I’ve learned how to be more proactive in my leadership, and troubleshoot problems within the operation. Management has a good combination of leaders and team members, but there is a disconnect between the brain and the body of the operation. In the way of growth, even to get to the management team provides a challenge as there is a ceiling. 
Workplace culture steadily improves, but it is difficult to enjoy working when there are few bad apples. 
The most enjoyable part of the job is the people that I work with on the floor because there are many different people with differing work ethics that Ive learned from. These people are what make the harder parts of the job much easier. There are questionably safe practices and some of the machines/equipment often take an extended period of time to fix. It’s a small company, but the job itself is stable, but strenuous.

Typical days at Logistics in Motion (LIM) depend on which department you are in, and can vary in workload and pace. 

A pre-shift briefing is held at the beginning of the day to inform employees about workload and potential hazards and operations changes. 
After this, employees work independently to complete tasks that are unique to their position ( selector, loader, receiver etc.) 

Management consists of floor supervisors who will direct employees to perform particular tasks that need to be completed. They also ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are being followed and the work environment is safe.

Co-workers, like any place of employment, vary in terms of personality and skill level. Some are polite and helpful, while others seem to be oblivious of events taking place around them, and impede others. 

The hardest part of the job is maintaining 100% standard performance. The warehouse is on the Manhattan system, and tracks employees' performance based on a standardized model. Many employees have voiced their concerns about the toughness to achieve 100% consistently without sacrificing safety for performance. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is the money, which is quite good even at the entry level position. Raises occur every 6 months, and the benefits are also quite generous.

Atypical day at work would consist of completeing reports in the morning needed for management staff meetings. I would then continure on with running my reports and setting up schedules for my trainers to complete. With all completed certifications i would then enter into the database and ensure all records are up to date. This was a daily duty to be completed. Meet once a week with new hire groups to review Health & Safty of the plant and the responsibilities of the employer and employee. complete any filing, ordering of supplies for the employees PPE. Maintain the inventory and contact suppliers when required. 
I have learned many computer skills and how to interact with upper management. I was given the freedom to create and implement ideas and processes as needed.
My co-workers were enjoyable and fun people to work with and learn from. 
The hardest part of my job was when i had to review a new hire employee after giving all the tools and help to make them successful but to no avail. The most enjoyable part of my job was to be able to assist an employee in being successful and gaining the respect and trust of that person.

A lot of responsibility to work in this position. However, it was not a very difficult task at all.

The start of my day was no different from the end of the day. And the day after, was no different then the day prior to. What I did was operate the diesel island at "Logistics In Motion". Pumped diesel from the generators, into all the "Loblaws" trucks that would pass on through.

The co-workers were helpful but not very sociable. They did their jobs, and I did mine. The odd time I'd have a man or woman come by with something to discuss or give a word of advice. 

Hardest part of the job was the repetitiveness. Filling up the trucks, waiting, keeping the area organized, safe, and maintained and then repeating the pattern all over again.

Most enjoyable part of the job was being in charge of the diesel island having free lunches. I was grateful to be given such a responsible role, and fortunate to have a free lunch.... Always nice to get paid for eating your meals.

A typical day is spent driving a triple pallet jack around a warehouse to given food products which must be lifted and assembled into full sized pallets at a rate of 3 pallets stacked 6 foot high every 45 minutes. The job taught me how to work at a quick pace, manage time, and how to persist in a challenging workplace environment. Management was very strict and often looked for any way to get an employee fired especially if they had not yet passed probation. Workplace culture was solitary due to the high turn over rate and exhausting work required. The hardest part of the job was meeting the time constraints required to not be fired as you have to select a massive amount of product and safely assemble it into pallets with very little leeway. The most enjoyable part of the job was that it functioned as an 8 hour workout.

Happy that you have a job then in just a few weeks your disappointed.
They cut like 80% of the cash you could be getting off the incentive program and made it hard for anyone to get extra cash on top of there paycheck by working hard, instead we have to spend more time away from our families doing overtime which we don't get much of only on the odd weeks. It's a life changer for the worst, I wouldn't recommend this job to my enemy...** ATTENTION!!! ** Get-in, use them before they use you, do as much overtime as possible to earn as much cash as you can then hit the road but first make sure to have another job waiting. SO...morale of this story is, DO NOT take this.......umm...job for a career, their is no job security here.
"Rookies" get your money up then move on.
And the rest who have been there for awhile use that experience and find something better.

Lim is a great place to work. Like any company that goes through massive growth in a short period of time, there will be challenges; like culture shift, obfuscation of vision at different levels of management and inconsistent planning. However during the 'teenage' years, we're getting over some of those growing pains and really coming into our own and re-establishing our culture, clarifying our goals and delivering clear plans to be successful.

Everything used to be extremely fun and carefree, but things always were when you were a kid! Now that we're growing up, things are a little more serious, but that is critical to continue to evolve as a business.
