Cons:
-Terrible management that will literally yell at you or talk to you like you are stupid, especially the afternoon shift management.
-High favoritism, certain workers can do or say anything, even just stand around and laugh with the supervisor about other co workers.
-No work life balance, overtime can be called whenever they want.
Saturdays are horrible almost always 2 hours of overtime, expect to be there 9am-7:30pm 
-You can be forced in on your days off literally the day before you are to be off, good luck ever making plans.
-If you request time off it will more than likely be denied. Time off is by seniority, they don't do unpaid time off nor will let you split your vacation so if you want a day off for something you will either have to burn a week of vacation for that day (if you can even get that week)  or call in sick. 
-Takes 1 year to even get vacation.
-Takes 18 months before you get a raise.
-Unless you have been here 20+ years expect to be forced in to work every holiday
-Management constantly changes rules but only applies rules to certain people, and they really like to give the younger/newer workers a hard time. 
-Can be an extremely hot and uncomfortable environment, company is very cheap and will turn on the AC as late into the summer season as possible and off as soon as possible, it becomes extremely hot in there with machines that heat, steam, and iron linen. 
-No set program for training it's the will of your trainer what they teach you, most of the trainers are terrible, the good ones stopped training because of management. 
-If you don't become friends with your trainer or manager right away they will literally stand behind you and talk bad about you.
-Every workplace has them but I have never seen such a huge amount of backstabbing 2 faced people anywhere.  

Pros:
-Decent benefits
-HR seems to care
-Good if you are a student they will work around your schedule. 

 I do not recommend work at this place unless you are desperate for a job. There is very low moral here, you are highly underpaid for what they expect of you to have high numbers and perfect quality, with even more new rules coming soon that will expect even more of you. Place is very old fashion in it's ways if you are young looking for a work life balance to be able to go out and do things forget it. Management treats you like an idiot and causes nothing but stress. 

This place is a revolving door most people come in and last 2-3 days before quitting. You fall into one of 3 categories when you work here, either been here for 20-40 years and can't get a job anywhere else, a student, or are just here until you find something else because it pays the bills. Don't work here save yourself the stress!

Stay away from this place it is not worth the time. You never know when a work day is going to be done with mandatory over time. They can force you in up to 24/hours before your day off to work on your day off so good luck ever making plans. Everything is by seniority so unless you have been there for 20+ years you will never get a holiday off. Time off is nearly impossible to get they don't do unpaid time off if you just want a day or 2 off, and they won't let you split your vacation days either so if you only want 1 or 2 days off you will be forced to use a whole weeks vacation. Which you have to work a full year before you can even take vacation. I have never seen so much red tape just to get time off. Revolving door no one stays unless they need a paycheck to survive. Afternoon shift supervisors are terrible do not know how to talk or treat people and show extreme favoritism. Save your sick days for days off it is the only way you can get time away. They have huge staffing problem so expect to work every holiday. Very old fashion in everything they do all they want is numbers and don't care about their employees. The place is unionized but not sure what they do.

-Can be forced to work trained to work in a area that is not your department or what you were hired for, then in order to not work in that area if you have problems you you will have to pay for a doctors note.
-Terrible supervisors especially the afternoon shift
-Huge favoritism, back stabbing and drama 

Pros:
-Benefits are OK
-If Part time they will work with your schedule.

When I was first hired, they eliminated my original position just 24 hours after accepting the job offer, so they gave me a speicalized role instead (which I had no prior experience). The intense training was horrid to say the least because the trainer and supervisor would rather ignore and not bother to properly train you while criticize and belittle you for the sightest mistake or if youre not going fast enougn. It was unreasonable for someone to be working at 100%  and know every techincal problems, how to slove said problems after 6 weeks of training conistising of being by yourself and learning on fly or be trained by people who visbily thinks they have better things to do than to train someone properly. They will force overtime on you within a day or at worse mere hours, management does not care if you have personal problems, commitments, or emergencies outside of work. There's constant drama and toxic gossip between both the two shifts and the cliques within them. If these cliques dont like you, you wont feel welcome, making the work you do extremely unrewarding. Booking time off is impossible if you're new and  career advancement is near impossible. The only good thing I would say is the pay. It was, at the time decent and would've grew at a decent pace had I stay and it was the only reason I put up with this place but I turned it down in the end.


They expect you to work as if you were a machine. They expect you to work with the same pace all day even after 8 or 9 hours. Given the huge workload differences between departments their premium does not compensate as some departments significantly more workload than others but pay is basically the same across departments which isn't fair. Even when they are short workers they expect the same amount of production or even more which puts even more stress on the rest of staffers. Sometimes they bring in people from recruitment agencies such as ABL which hardly do much to help out the regular workers but they would count them as fully staffed with no regards to the actual quality of their work. Many employees have to work until midnight on Fridays and then have to show up for 8.45 am the following Saturday. They are very strict with their time and would often deduct from your pay if you are a minute or two late but often they have the staff work five to even 15 minutes past their shift without extra pay.

I worked there for a year and I had to force myself to go into work everyday. Management was the worst part. They would act nice to your face but once the chance came, they would cut you down in a second. I once stood up to take a 2 minute break from my job and leaned against a wall cause my back hurt and I was immediately reprimanded for wasting time. I felt like it was a sweat shop.  

The inside of the plant has a HEAVY chemical smell that gave me a headache the first week I was there. 

Maintenance team was nice and helpful when you needed them, but the maintenance manager is completely incompetent. He more than once attempted to fix my machine but failed and grabbed one of his subordinates to do the work for him. 

Lunch and break times are extremely strict. If you are back at your machine even a minute late you will be spoken to about it. 

There is mandatory overtime that you are told about mere hours before the end of your shift. Be ready to bend to their will. 

Everyone just seemed depressed and honestly scared to fail. If you are someone who is looking for a job, move on. There are friendlier and healthier places to work at.  

Lhls is overall a great place to work as a driver depending on what you're looking for and how you're treated by certain supervisors and management. 
If you have a steady run it makes your day run smoother, and you'll get a better understanding of where the customers want carts placed, and where you'll be picking the soiled linen up.
On the other hand, if you're a relief driver your schedule could turn in to a headache. Short notice calls to cover sick drivers or no hours at all except for Saturday mornings.
The other drivers are great to work with, and will try to give you a few tips for making your round trip easier on your back or less stressful in general.
If you have a maintenance issue with your truck it is fixed right away. That includes a non working a/c!
Direct supervisors of the drivers are rarely aware of or care about how much extra work is dumped on the drivers as long as it gets done.
If you're lucky enough to get a steady route that you love, you will most likely lose it the following Oct. Every year the routes are redistributed by senority.

I worked 1 shift, soil sorting which is pretty gross. However, that wasn't why I left so quickly after being hired. It was the attitude towards the staff from my floor manager that made me leave. Could write a case studies for bad management practices from them alone. Statements like "I don't think you're going to be able to do this" and "we expect you to work this station alone" which was operated by 10 people. No words of encouragement or support, no constructive criticism, just feeding doubt and resentment.

The sad thing is the people that work there were great, but have to to endure this terrible management for a job that barely pays a livable wage.  Speaking with other workers on the line, it's clear there's no advancement, the relationship between management/workers is so strained and resentful, most workers are spiteful of management for appropriate reasons.  Very dehumanizing approach to the people that work for them, sad because I think some of the workers don't have many other options.

No surprise they hire regularly, the management needs to take some Organizational Behaviour training.

I work part-time for an year at LHLS. You are trained for two weeks after you join. The training is extensive and the trainers are kind and patient. You can always get back to them even after training if you not sure about anything. You can always reach out to the leads and supervisors if you have any concern and they will listen to you. The co-workers are good to work with.

Employee appreciation events are held which makes you feel valuable. The work that you do has a direct positive impact on people as the linen that is processed is shipped across to health care facilities. 

If there is an overtime late in the night, you are given cab so that you reach home safely. The pay rate is higher than the base pay. Best place for students as the management works around your school schedule to provide appropriate hours. You get adequate hours to work.

-do not take COVID seriously
-do not care about life outside of work (forced overtime with no notice)
-severely underpaid for the amount of physical labor involved
-treated like 1/500 people, no one learned your name or bothered to have any conversation
-no paid time off/no benefits/no work pace related incentives or advancement (could be doing twice the amount of someone else quota wise but still no rewards or even encouragement) 
-only if you worked there 20+ years will you be able to get weekends off. Other than that say goodbye to every single saturday sunday no matter what you apply for. 
-toxic work environment, cruel workers/managers/HR department 
basically one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a workplace, no one cares about you. 


This isn’t a bad place to work. As long as you don’t take advantage of sick calls, and keep a positive attitude, you will be fine. Some people have left because they won’t accept that sometimes it can get very busy, just like any other job. They are working on a solution for the lack of product and other such issues.  Job advancement is achievable, however it works on a seniority basis, so be prepared to wait 6 months - 1 year for your turn. Friendly/helpful management and HR. Decent pay raises. Management quite often tells us how well we are doing and how much they appreciate us.  Training can be intense sometimes simply because  they can be very busy and congested as far as storage space.  I would recommend this job
