work schedule all over the place, lots of unpaid hrs work 12, pay 8, so overall ur pay isnt tht much, u spend the unpaid hrs to get to ur next work location, and the buses are missing or late due to no drivers, and you are late for ur next work and you get docked pay and losing your job, same story where passengers dont have a bus to get to work and lose  job, its same for you, they wont do anything special.

Typical day u start by getting yelled at by another frustrated customer because your manager failed to maintain the integrity of the system. The managers nvr take the bus or drive the bus but decides about everything how the schedule, stop locations and evrything should run. you get yelled at, cursed, threatened on the job because your manager cant figure out how to run the business in a logical method that is easy for the customers and you. as a result evreyone tht needs to drive or take the bus suffers, while the managers enjoy yearly raises and bonuses and just walking around chaatin for hrs in the office and then goin home early and lots of unlimited perks. managers make the rules, u follow. you have no say or ur on the fired route.

the hardest part of the job is trying to understand why life works this way here.

most enjoyable is when u quit and tht your customers appreciate wht you do and how you help them despite a poorly managed system with lots of defficiencies.

Also, the first thing tht goes wrong. you will be the only one to blame and held accountable and you are the first and only suspect. everything is done to prosecute you, video, audio. it will never be used to protect you, always against you.

you are watched as an inmate fashion.

nobody wants to take ownership of anything. managers always playing the its someone elses fault and no one will take them accountable. the union will not protect you.

there is 500 lowest rank workers. they are always missing hundreds of workers. always short workers. i wonder why.  services are cut because not enough workers.
workers just quit once they figure out and plan to go somewhere else. ppl who stay are mostly ppl who cant quit.  and of course you will find happy workers, but thts the miniority.. most just in for paycheck to feed the family. and try not to think too much of a horrible workplace.

lots of things tht will suprise you. when u think u seen all the failures management can have. they come up with new failures. such as no transfers. no bus parts. like nobody knws to order ahead one inventory cycle. and of course, they never acccountable. if it was you tht f up, you are suspended without pay immediate. leadership is by fear. its called, im manager, i get to say evrything. ur low tier worker, wht do u knw. do not say anything or you will get the shaft.

​💔 This statement reflects my personal and profound disappointment with the working environment at the London Transit Commission (LTC). It is an account of a culture that consistently prioritizes the mechanical operation of buses over the well-being and basic dignity of the human beings who drive them.
​1. The Disregard for Personal Time and Compensation
​The current LTC scheduling practices demonstrate a fundamental lack of respect for a driver's personal time.
​Unpaid Imprisonment on the Street: The introduction of severe split shifts forces drivers to be available for work for many hours without compensation. Specifically, when routes are cut, drivers are often left stranded on the street for up to three hours every single day, simply waiting to catch a ride home or back to their cars between shifts. This is not downtime; it is an unpaid obligation that eats away at personal life, family time, and rest. We are human beings with lives outside of the bus, and this mandated "street time" is simply unacceptable.
​2. A Workplace Devoid of Support and Trust
​The culture within LTC is mentally and emotionally draining. Instead of a supportive professional environment, drivers are often subjected to toxicity and instability.
​Survival Culture: The atmosphere is characterized by intense internal politics and a pervasive lack of trust. Instead of mutual support, there is often suspicion and a feeling of needing to "watch your back." This hostile environment makes an already stressful job significantly more difficult and isolating.
​A Feeling of Being Disposable: The pervasive belief seems to be that as long as the wheels are turning, management is content. This gives the strong impression that the company cares nothing about the personal struggles or daily realities drivers face in their cabs, treating us as interchangeable cogs in a machine.
​Conclusion and Warning
​My experience has been profoundly negative. It is a job that demands too much and respects too little.
​I genuinely believe that the individuals who continue to drive for LTC often do so because they are in a difficult professional corner, lacking other viable employment options. No one should have to sacrifice their basic right to fair treatment and peace of mind just to hold a job.
​I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this environment to any fellow professional.

London Transit has been one of the most challenging workplaces I’ve experienced. The environment often feels unprofessional, with unnecessary drama and a lack of communication and engagement from leadership. The Director of Fleet and Facility rarely shows up and makes little effort to connect with staff, leaving employees without proper guidance or support.

Garage employees are consistently treated as second-class compared to other groups. The union provides minimal support for maintenance staff, and the resources they receive, from tools to benefits, fall below industry standards. Wages are not competitive, and high turnover is a constant issue, which speaks volumes about the workplace culture.

The only positives are job security and the pension. London Transit has the potential to become a strong workplace again, but it would require major changes in leadership, investment in staff, and updated resources. Until then, it remains far from being a desirable employer.


Listen to someone who's been there and done that.  Let's start with the positives..(not many) 

1. Alright pay - Pension is good but if your main goal is that, get it somewhere else. Trust me

2. Slow pace - If you enjoy a laid back work environment.  You will pay a price for it however.

The Negative ( To many to list )

1. Work Culture -  Every shift is different but the ones you will be working on (afternoons or nights) are not good. Very manipulative behavior rampent through management and some high seniority staff. Unless your good at playing "adulator" you will have a rough go for a long time. 30 years to be exact. 

2. Tool Shortage / Repair Work- The tools you are supplied with are a complete joke. Can't bring your own. So get use to them. Running repairs are a constant night-mare curve ball. No training presents a very dangerous situation for yourself working overhead of 30,000lbs supported by hoists made in the 60's. Safety repairs get boring. Doing the same thing over and over again. 

A typical day at work was a good mix of routine tasks and new challenges. I usually started by organizing my tasks, checking priorities, and working on both individual and team assignments. Throughout this experience, I learned a lot about time management, communication, and how to work more efficiently in a professional environment. I also improved my problem-solving skills and learned how important attention to detail is.

Management was generally supportive and open to questions, which made it easier to learn and improve. They provided guidance when needed but also trusted employees to work independently. The workplace culture was positive and respectful, and teamwork was encouraged.

The hardest part of the job was handling deadlines and balancing multiple tasks at the same time, especially during busy periods. However, the most enjoyable part of the job was seeing my work make a real contribution and feeling more confident in my skills as time went on.

Very strange place to work, feels like pre-school mixed with prison but with the politics of high school.

Even if you think you can just keep to yourself and just do your job, offense will be taken and you become a target.

A lot of the work you will be doing is either completely made up, or busy work. For actual issues, there is NO training available or provided, it is not about doing the job correctly nor safely, and if you bring up issues you are ostracized.

The provided tools are incomplete, worn out, or the cheapest they can possibly find. Even previously returned, broken, unsafe. Shop tools are well picked over and missing what is actually needed.

Seniority is not respected and the workplace culture is beyond toxic, you learn quickly why they are always looking for people, the legitimate repair work is generally easy and the most enjoyable part of the job is punching out and going home.





Those starting out have no work/life balance. Shifts that are 12 hours long because of spreads. Working every week end and holiday. So many people won’t retire any new hires are stuck on terrible shifts for a decade or longer. New hires also earn less money.   It’s great if you don’t have a family and don’t want a social life. Many of the people in higher positions such as dispatch and management are unfriendly and bitter. Those who have worked at LTC for a long time are bitter and make full rate and get the best shifts. It doesn’t make sense. 

Good pension and salary.  That’s the only good side of this job. Apart from that this place has very stressful environment. The politics here is worse. Your manager can pull you into meetings with management and union for small things which could be sort out easily without the meetings.  You can not disagree to your manager to stay under the radar.  As soon as you say something they start picking on you and can make life horrible. 

Garage staff are treated poorly.
Union only supports the drivers. If you're in the garage, forget about union support. They side with management most of the time.
Management are super unprofessional and do not communicate with each other. Many have said before, it's soul-crushing, underpayed, underappreciated work in a miserable prison-like environment. Good thing there's a pension.


What is the best part of working at the company?
The staff is awesome, it's a great place to work, good hours, good management.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There is no room to grow, you'll be doing the same basically. Vacation is only 2 weeks when you start. Compensation is only 2% per year if so...
