Overall, I've enjoyed my experience at Longo’s. They're a family run organization that has recently sold a controlling stake to Empire. There is some old school mentality when it comes to growth opportunities and pay. 

There's a bit of an Old Boy's club and they unfortunately hold Middle Management positions which doesn't necessarily guarantee we promote the best talent we have to offer. 

If you're looking to grow in this industry, Longo’s is a decent option. Just play the game, befriend the right people and remember it's not always what you know but also who you know.

I started working at Longo's when I was 15 years old and I had an amazing time working along a great group of individuals. I was able to take a number of skills away when I decided I needed to expand my skill set. I sometimes felt that the management selection needed to be reviewed more thoroughly. That would definitely be the hardest part of the job. The most enjoyable part of the job is that you will not find any one of their competitors in standings when it comes to ethical decisions when providing fresh products to customers. Also a great place for students to work because of flexible hours. I did however feel when working full-time, that my life revolved around work. An average week consists of 40+ hours.

A typical day at work is cutting fruit and vegetables for production and the bar, maintaining food safety and other tasks such as stocking the shelves exc. I've learned a lot at Longos for the short amount of time I've been working there such as the importance of food safety, how to properly greet customers and working in the kitchen. The management team at Longos are far than superior. They always are making sure customers and team members are getting the proper help they deserve and make sure everything in the store is running smoothly. Overall I believe Longos is a great place to work at and great for students looking to earn some experience!

What is the best part of working at the company?
They have a good management, they treated each and every one as a family.  A good environment to work and a very good team work. For me longos is the best company. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I can say that there is no stress if you know on  how to handle your routine and everything.

To start, I would have to say that Longo's was a decent place to work at. The people you work with are really cool and that's about it for the good stuff. The benefits are pretty low and the wage is pretty much standard. The management is decent, not great, with the exception of my supervisor that I've had until recently who was actually really great. General store management needs improvement in terms of keeping up morale. 

P.S. Music that they play in the store is pitiful for the most part.

Working at Longos is a long processes, you're standing in the same spot for 8 hours at a time and depending on the person; you could hate that. But you meet great people and its a fast pace job. Management could get in your way from moving up and that's a reason why I left because I didn't want to constantly just be a cashier. The hours are flexible and great though and perfect for a first job.

I worked there part time and full time.
I would say the pay is decent but wasn't a livable wage. It is a good job for if your in school or you need it as a stepping stone to get elsewhere.
All the staff and managers were so kind, I loved the work atmosphere. 
I definitely enjoyed the job but moved on to something that was able to pay more. 

Not a bad place to work if you get a good manager. Higher management is a bit racist, but the employees there for the most part are very nice and kinda treat each other like family. The work is straight forward and a bit slow paced at times but over all not bad.

On a typical day at work, I assist customers in their in-store checkout process which includes scanning items, bagging groceries etc.

Some times, you will need to solve customer issues regarding products they purchase which is not a problem as it is part of your job

Since leaving, I've worked in other grocery stores and Longos has the best software and procedural interface for their workers. Although they pigeonhole some and lift up others, they're a company conscious of the comfort of their (older) full-time workers.
