The division is supportive of hard working teachers, willing to work on their professional development each year and who consistently make improvements to their teaching skills, with a certain degree of self-motivation, creativity and independence.  

It is imperative to be honest, kind to children, professional and willing to accept correction/advice and guidance from your principal.  If you can do this, you will succeed.  Be reliable.  Build your integrity by working hard for your students and their families.

Pros
-The school division would be an okay place to start a career. 
-Some management is supportive depending on department
-good pension
-benefits (including paid sick time) are okay depending on department

Cons
- There is little to no room for advancement and wage increases
- Wages are top heavy with $100,000 difference between the highest paid and the lowest paid employees
- Very cliquey work culture, even the HRM doesn't talk to the lesser employees. 

Again, this would be an okay place to start your career but don't expect to feel respected or appreciated.

It used to be a great place to work. After 20+ years of working there, I no longer want to. In the last 3 years, the division between the teachers and the support staff got wider and wider. Information is only on a need to know basis (understandable in some cases) but when you work with the students and information isn’t shared, it becomes an issue. It used to feel like a big family, unfortunately it doesn’t any more. The rate of pay, along with the length of our workday doesn’t pay the bills.

Basic cleaning of the classrooms and hallways, till spring time when you did a thorough clean of the whole school.  I learnt how to use the tasky machine for floor polishing and that it wasn't as easy as it looked when you first used one.  After it became easier to use.  Some workers were good to work with and others weren't so good.  The hardest part of the job was dealing with the bad workers.  I loved to clean and management was good.

This school division reacts to what it sees other divisions doing. Needs to be proactive in the educational world. Nepotism is rampant in the hiring process. It's who you know not What you know. "Fear of change"  should be it's motto. 
Any conflict between staff is keep on the down low. Administration is scared and no training in human resource to handle employee problems.

Good job 
 Working as a casual, you are called in to work  by a booking  clerk. A clerk that should be taking turns. Turns, as in systematically going down a list of  casuals ..if casual employee whose turn it is,doesn't answer, booking clerk goes on to the next person, and so on. If casual person whose turn it is can't comply that day, assignment goes to the next person.

Good place to work , Constant training there is also a very pleasant interaction with colleagues is a very busy but positive work environment I highly recommend them

I have found them to be supportive in times of family issues, and they also have snow days which is always a plus.
Evenings you pretty much work on your own and the days usually you work with others.

Helping students, helping teachers in the classroom. Helping students complete tasks accompany on field trips and help de escalate situations that arise 

Positive work environment, great co-workers, spring break, Christmas break and summer holidays off. The only downside was it was not full time hours, and we didn’t receive benefits.
