Working here was fun, had a great team - great temporary job as there is no room for advancement unless you live where a head office is located. 

My working hours were all over the place. Making sales targets was stressful especially at a new mall in the Winnipeg Market. Winnipeg customers are very cheap so selling jeans for 125$ is very difficult. 

Completing floorets to standard was very challenging due to the fact that the store manager kept cutting hours. At the time the store was slow - hours should have been cut from selling associates.

When I first started we had a great district manager - she moved on after a few months. Then we continuously had changing district managers which was challenging to build repair with them. It was harder to be motivated at work.

Employees are required to meet excessive sales goals each shift, resulting in employees and managers stealing sales from each other. Poor sales can result in criticism. 

Managers set rules, then break the rules themselves but don’t face discipline. 

Complaints from customers are ignored. 

Unnecessary politics and lying in the workplace. 

Outdated system and invalid barcodes, which requires employees to remember the price of everything. Mistakes can happen easily. 

Workplace bullying is not acknowledged or dealt with. 

Managers can interrupt and cut breaks short. (30 minutes) 

Managers do not respect off-work hours and will contact employees at odd hours. 

Lucky Brand Jeans cares about its people and the value of the company. The company invests highly in its management for their retail lines and it shows. My managers were very understanding and supportive during my tenure at Yorkdale location. Every team member were selected carefully to complement the store, team, and the brand image itself.

One thing to note is, although there is no commission, meeting store's targets are very important on a regular basis and management emphasizes on that regard heavily. If you perform well, you will be rewarded with more hours and company's prizes.

i learned how to please customers by giving alternatives and i expanded my product knowledge. i also developed customer service skills. i love my coworkers and trying on clothes. the hardest part of the job is lifting boxes and saying no to customers regarding store policies. sometimes we get free food. we all have each others back, we really are a team. we take shifts and we support eachother the best way we can. my manager genuinely cares about her employees.

They will promise that you as a manager can control the store functions and how your business evolves, but they will turn around and think of you as yet another individual trying to scam the company. During your worst time they will come across as a company that is trying to scam you, so make sure you take great points right away and ensure that you go by the book from the start. Get things in writing from them.

As a supervisor you are required to show up 10 minutes early.  Make sure you coach your closing sales associate on their selling techniques by making sure they are aware of any of the promotions.  Find out how the store is doing in terms of sales for the day.  Continue to push and bring in those big item sales.

Honestly a nice place to work when you look at the discount given and the other part time staff but the management really made it a terrible place to work. There was such a lack of communication, some management took their personal problem and brought it into the work day, making the day super uncomfortable for the rest of the employees. Very childish workplace, the pay is not worth the drama that's created. Overall, the job itself wasn't hard and the other part time staff were lovely.

The manager and coworkers play a large part in the atmosphere of the workplace and also in your work hours. Although the workplace is small and there are a smaller amount of workers, it is easier to connect with newer workers more quickly because you see them more often. This is a company that teaches you how to approach customers easily and give quality customer service for each and every customer.

In my position as a Sales Associate, I assist customers in finding what they need, I also provide them with information about our products. I also help to keep the store clean and organized. I operate the cash register to complete the point of sale transaction. My coworkers and managers are the best. The most enjoyable part about this job is being able to satisfy the customers in providing them with what they want.

Starting with this company back in 2012, I didn't have much retail experience on my back. However, the training that was provided to me was exceptionally useful for me in regards to customer service and continuously having goals set for the day; whether it was personal goals or goals for the team/company itself. You worked hard , but it was well paid off.
