There seems to be a bit of a toxic culture here at the mid - senior management level. All but 2 individuals serving have been in management for less than 1.5 years. Management operates on a 'Do as we say' mentality without any process for open dialogue or consultation of the front line staff. Often, new ideas are ignored if they contrast the gospel of the ED or Senior Director; who are more concerned with ensuring their ego remains intact than bettering the organization. Time management appears to be a regular concern for many in management, who often miss-deadlines on their normal duties due to their unneeded involvement in others work and/or the mindless office politics.

Program information (budgets) are NOT shared with staff - likely in order to maintain a dependency on those in charge. As progress begins to be made for the better, the top director in the budgeting department turns over (its happened about 3 times now under our current ED).

The wage grids are outdated and not inline with market - we are paid under $20, far below our colleagues in the hospitals or schools.


Pending where you are in the building as there are multiple programs you are alway surrounded by other that support you as there are many different disciplines. In this job you are always learning as you support the youth in their daily routines from getting up and getting ready for school to putting them to bed and everything in between every day is a new one for this job . If there is something you want to learn about in the feild of Child and Youth Care they will have the information. Keeping up with paper work demands and working shift work would be the hardest part of the job.The best part is being able to hang out with the youth and watch their progress in learning new ways of dealing with issues.

I was originally so excited to work here because they advertised themselves as the leading mental health facility in the city, but in reality they are the only mental health facility outside of the hospitals. They are not properly equipped to handle many of the complex cases the youth experience and they know this. Management is toxic and combative and ironically do not care about the mental health of their employees. This place should also be looked into for the way they misuse government funds. Management seems to be more concerned with feeding themselves and paying for artwork instead of putting funds into proper programming for the kids .

A typical day involved supporting high-needs youth through routines, crises, appointments, and emotional support. I learned patience, crisis intervention, teamwork, and communication skills. The most rewarding part was building relationships with the youth and helping them grow. The hardest part was the workplace culture after new management took over. Staff often felt targeted, unsupported, micromanaged, and mentally drained. Communication from management was frequently rude and unprofessional, which created a toxic environment despite the meaningful work being done with the youth.

This place is incredibly toxic, and it's absolutely unacceptable. Management clearly does not value employees or their input. What value? They constantly point out mistakes while ignoring all the good work being done. If you don't follow their directives to the letter, they're quick to let you go. I initially felt enthusiastic about joining what was advertised as a "leading agency in kids' mental health," expecting a great work environment. However, it’s evident that they do not deserve that title. Staff members are underpaid and overworked, leading to extremely high turnover rates. This situation is unacceptable and needs serious attention. The only positive about this place was the team I was working with.

Mostly toxic because the staff do not get along.Everyone tries to throw everyone else" under the bus..."

You are trained to deliver appropriate care the emotionally disturbed adolescents

The management does not value their employees. You have no support unless your doing something wrong and even then they dont really help you. They give you fake smiles and keep walking. Admin staff often don't even acknowledge you when you directly say hello. So rude! So a lead agency in helping people it's kind of a joke how they treat their employees. No transparency at all. Lots of shady things happen ing behind the scenes. Used to be an ok place to work but no longer! It's a cut throat place to be.

There appears to be a lack of consistent managerial support on the floor, and support is often perceived to be directed more toward staff with personal connections to management. Additionally, frequent understaffing is contributing to increased stress, staff burnout, and workflow challenges. The lack of available relief staff significantly increases the risk of employees being required to work double shifts, often without prior notice

Great clients but staff that talk negative about the clients and their families.
Very unprofessional youth worker's that have completed placements then hired, as they have been molded as students.
Wages are a joke, staff injuries are high, due to using restraints to often. 

There is a union but they take forever to do anything.

High staff turnover, poor programming, so-so starter job. Not worth your time.  This agency does not strive for excellence. Few full time workers. Uses temp agencies to fill shifts. A lot of injuries. Non therapeutic treatment.
