The most best aspect of this job - is the people I work with and for.  Never before have I worked for a company where everybody in leadership subscribes to the same overall value set. Because of these shared values, I feel strongly valued as a Team Member, respected by my colleagues, and given appropriate latitude in terms of special projects or approaches to utilize. I have feel welcome to voice opinions, the tasks given are appropriately challenging and that my work genuinely makes a positive difference - in the region.

Gained cultural awareness within the communities 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Ongoing demands for extending work beyond already agreed upon work hours including on call on weekends and holidays. 

Increasing workload expectations and managing more projects with the same resources.

Often having time of requests not approved due to lack of coverage and lack of other trained staff. Department would not allow for extra training of staff for coverage.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Quite unpleasant, at times toxic with workplace bullying . 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
High expectations , often missed breaks and working past working hours.

My job title was Diabetic Nurse educator.. I worked with First Nations People in two northern communities... A typical day encompassed gaining knowledge of the presenting issues and then attempt to educate towards better health.. This was done on a community based form.
I learned that the issues around diabetes are more complex than just the glucometer reading results.. This is huge.. The bases of my work.
Management was supportive of staff and the People
Team work was essential. Our attempt in the Circle of Care involved all of our professional background.
The hardest part of the job was facing the obstacles involved and trying to support around them.. ie poverty and education
The People themselves are incredible and made my job what it was

High demand job, poor management, great front line workers team. Lots of travel.
Helping the people is very gratifying. Director is non supportive, very self serving.  Front line workers struggle with direction and recognition.  Many opportunities to build relationships with other health care providers and community support services.  Best part of Maamwesying in getting to form relationships with FN people and engage in cultural knowledge.

Different rules for different staff.  Nepotism.  Poorly organised.  Too much travel.  Bullying occurred at work from management and staff.  The patients were great.
