It could be much better if they actually cared about people!! You are handling live chicken in a crate for 8 hours a day at a fast pace you can't even stop for to long to catch your breath or get a drink of water. Your back kills you when you start to learn like literally!!! Or your legs which ever part of your body you forgot to train at the gym(NotAJoke). What makes it 10 times worse is the breaks and lunches. After handling birds Pooing on you, feathers flying into your eyeballs and standing with your back or legs or w.e pain you have, you must wash up and change your outfit, mind you they time you as soon as they say stop so by the time you wash up and change maybe 5 mins or more has gone. You sit down for maybe 7-8 minutes then you have to be back at your station on the stroke of 15 ready to go...So even before you could say "I Love Canada" your back on the line at it again for a few hours until you have to do it all over again and the same goes for Lunch as well they should give you an extra 5 minutes to wash and change is that asking to much ?! Employees would work even harder if they could catch there breath and recover a bit. If You can make it out of the first week all credit to you!! I Hope Management reads this and has a bit or alot of "Sympathy" if not they can always keep hiring new people and retraining them at there own expense!!

I was hired as a maintenance guy (welder) and tbh I've never seen older tig welding machines in my life, they run terribly, definitely aren't high frequency but it doesn't really matter because your supervisors don't even know how to tig weld or really much about welding at all. Your welds don't matter at all here, you don't even need to know how to weld. Most people that work here sport a clumpy unsharpened tungsten which would be unacceptable at any other company. It is MANDATORY to work 50 hour work weeks which doesn't sound very "family first" considering you are working 10 hour shifts and must work weekends as well. They gave me two uniforms and their uniform department never had clean spare uniforms and working in this environment you are dirty ALOT and working around raw chicken. One guy I met was about to retire (skilled friendly guy) and he showed me what the company gave him after over 30 years with the company, they gave him a cheap bracelet that said "made in china" on it for all his hard work. I'm glad it didn't last here, they let me go because I had to take time off for my kids "family first" ya right! The entire time I worked there I must of seen the foreman all of two or three times and two of those was the day I started and the day I was let go. 

This company does not support evidence based decision making.  Leadership here focuses on narratives and obfuscating reality to fit their narrative.  If you're loud and have been here for 30 years, you'll be listened to and find success.  In my department, we are disorganized and incompetent on the best of days.  Decisions are only made if your title starts with a D.  You won't be empowered to make decisions, and you won't find policies for anything unless you're in Quality Assurance. 

We're so overworked and understaffed that our investigations take weeks, sometimes months to complete.  I watch as colleagues leave and are berated for their perspective and contributions on exit.  I am looking forward to the day I can leave but also filled with anxiety because they've created a toxic workplace and imbalanced trust dynamics.

My only hope is someone eventually cares and looks into the toxic culture and actually does something about it.  New VP's seem to have promise, but still haven't identified or done anything about it.  They seem to be succumbing to the toxicity.

Cut the cancer out and make culture your focus.  Stop lying about family values.

If management wasn’t so horrible and non educated maybe the place would be better to work. You address a issue to management and you get ignored, if your aren’t a favourite and suck up you go no where. Union same thing they are there for the company not you.

Great place if your really stuck and need the job and money but you will work for your money it’s dirty and smells. Breaks and lunches aren’t 15mins and 30mins as you gotta be at your station ready to go so it’s actually 10mins and 20mins. 

Seniority at work is non existent as employees have been there for 25 years plus and are in their 40’s. Vacation request forms are a joke as the older staff get all the good weeks and you don’t get any good weeks even if you have a special event. 

I hope this review makes you question the job, I never write reviews but I don’t want others going In blinded like I did and get a rude awakening like I did. I wish someone had told me what the company was really like I would’ve made a other decision on applying here.

The Brampton location is absolutely toxic and not a good place to work for anyone except immigrants who need Canadian work experience. They deliberately keep pay low and benefits (such as childcare subsidies, health and dental) high so that workers find it hard to leave. As others have said, they hire externally for all office and higher level positions, and if you work on the floor management constantly disrespects you and disregards your lunch and break times. I was asked by my boss to not say anything if I felt sick, as we were always short staffed and had high turnover, and was refused opportunities to be reimbursed for school and always rejected for jobs in my field which I was qualified for. Maple Lodge Brampton is a horrible and toxic environment, and I would never go there again. 

It is a very toxic workplace. They say they take care of employees like family. on the contrary, it deletes the happiness out of the employees like some of the family members do. Career advancement is zero at Maple lodge farms. I have seen people from various departments willing to move into better positions but no, the company doesn't allow that. there is absolutely no training at Maple lodge. zero, nada. there is plenty and a bunch of favoritism in there. You have to be a very good yes-sir no-sir types to be in the manager's good books. the phrases "willingness to work" and "professionalism" mean a joke to Maple lodge management. HR does nothing to protect employees. Union leaders are paid by the upper management.

Salary always on time, the management is qualified, they know how to run the business.

The most stressful part is as follows
In the name water the operation staff specifically supervisor have been made dirty place on floor because they are saving water , it not making sense it is called non sense.
The bottom line all departments should neat and clean. If you can’t pay water bill so innocent please shutdown the company. The CEO should visit all departments if the department is no neat clean serious and drastic action shoul be taken

It is good, nice HR they are professionals

Dirty place to work plus too much dust , supervisor saving water to make dirty place. The notice should go to owner of the company that if you can’t pay water bill why you are sitting here

i started in the  construction dept. and eventually moved on to maintenance and i enjoyed my time there.  I learned a lot, got paid well and had fun working along some good all around guys.  Here you are exposed to the entire plant and not stuck in one department all day, the jobs you do are all over the plant so you are never in the same place.  The boss of the electrical dept. When i worked there was brutal to work for.  He had no idea how to manage or even talk to other people without trying to intimidate you but made himself look like a typical 40 year old still living in his moms house.  The mechanical management  was a solid guy who had his head on his shoulders unlike the electrical dept. (But the boss othat i worked for is no longer there so im sure it is managed much better than it was.  All in all its a good place to work. I enjoyed working there and probably never shojld have quit.

The pay scale is low and they expect to work like a machine even sometimes I don't get time to eat my lunch. My supervisor was not treating all team members equally and that was really disturbing part. Dispite having required educational credentials and required experience they preferred to get someone from outside. My supervisor didn't even post position internally 1st which was a normal practice. When I complained HR they post the job posting internally but they never preferred someone who have required experience and educational credentials.
It was really very  unfair and demotivatinal and then I decided to quit the company. 




This company was well managed when the owners were involved,they truly cared about the workers and took pride in their company.
Over the last 10+years management is from terrible to horrible! They are only concerned about their pocket books(the truth has to be told)
Where does Maple Lodge find the people that are working in HR?
They have absolutely no respect for their workers!!
Keep on hiring management this way Maple Lodge and you’ll find yourself in a hole sooner than later!
Management does not accept opinions on how to get the job done in a more cost efficient and  productive way.They feel that if they have the degree they know everything and that is truly not the case just ask anybody that has been there long enough and ask how they feel about management!
