For the most part it was an alright job, you get told what to do and via forms you download off of the companies online portal and do exactly what it says and you'll have no issues. One of the positives of their pay model is that most of the projects are paid at a flat rate for the tasks so if you are able to do those projects in a more expedited manner you can do rather well. My direct manager was always helpful and understanding when it came to questions or issues I was having with the job and is much of the reason I stayed with the company as long as I did, however I cannot say the same for upper management as often times inquires to them would not be responded to for days if not weeks.

As far as negatives go there are a handful depending on what you are looking for. The hours could vary by quite a bit week by week, sometimes from 5 hours a week up to 35 hours the next week which made it difficult to balance with other obligations at times. I also found that the job could be rather lonely at times as you don't really have coworkers that you work with on a consistent basis, so if you look to work as a place to meet people and work on a team this might not be right for you. Finally often times projects require assistance from store staff in order to complete them and depending on the staff on duty and the level of busyness in the store at the time of your visit it can be rather difficult if not impossible to complete these tasks which can be a frustrating situation if you feel otherwise competent at the work, so it's a good idea to build a positive working relationship with some of the staff members in stores you frequently visit so you can turn to them when you need a hand.

Overall it is an okay job that you can succeed if you put in the work and great if you are looking for something flexible, but overall the cons of the job pushed me to look for something that was a better fit for me after a year.

They spread out the work to a bunch of people, so you're only getting 5 hours when you used to get 20-40 hours a week.
Will hire and hire and hire and hire because the people they initially hired aren't getting enough work and quit.
Company doesn't prioritize or even recognize good work ethic from a good employee.
Management is distanced and often rude.
They miss payments very often even though your work is inputted through the computer, which should stop that from happening, and it becomes a long process to get paid which inevitably falls onto your shoulders to fight for your money.

the District Manager of Edmonton Area Blame who they want to blame and  the worker who always gets the work done ontime and follows directives  always gets the blame and other co workers who are always late on work never get  blamed, worse management ever, they dont know what is going on with there team. once your in the blame there is not talking to them to tell them the truth what they say goes, worse company ever in the Edmotnon,Alberta Management team
and the pay is so bad as your a independently contract $15.00 works out too be like $2.00 after you take your own taxes off dont work for this company they will screw you over

I joined MCA 4yrs ago to help a friend with a reline. It was hard work but so much fun that I helped with a few more. The field managers visited the relines to get to know the teams, provide additional training, coaching & support. This is how I was introduced to the merchandising industry. I was offered the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and was able to use my previous work experience to suggest productive & more efficient ways of working. What impressed me most was how receptive senior management was to good ideas and suggestions, and how quickly they were to act on them. My manager was very supportive and always willing to chat with me and provide support where needed.
The variety of projects keeps the work interesting. I am able to work for different clients on projects that range from audits to mystery shops to cosmetic relines. Each day is a little different and it never gets boring. I work according to the schedule that I set and as long as my projects are completed to standard and reported on time, the work is consistent and very rewarding.

Show up at night, apply yourself to the work described. In this case making shelf alterations and installing Electronic Price Tags and migrating the information from paper price tags. We finish up in the morning 7am. Advance training happened via an email with links to demo videos and small amount of reading. Management was very easygoing. A combination of team work and independent.  My challenge was that I'd been working a different field for a long time and was not as physically fit as I'd have liked to be.  The work itself is fun if you like to assemble and disassemble things. The only interaction was with other contractors and management. Night shift, which I enjoy, it's quiet, but it's difficult to connect with friends and family or deal with daytime appointments or events. Work was fast paced but not unbearably so.   It's helpful to have a cell phone with a decent camera and data package so you can verify work done for the job

This is a minimum wage contract position with very low compensation for travel. They will nickel and dime you on all your jobs. You are sent out on assignments with lengthy directives that are poorly written and expected to go back on your own time to fix it at your own expense if you make a mistake. Like the other reviews you will have to watch your payroll as they did not compensate for jobs and in turn feels like you are fighting for your pay.  Its truly unfortunate that they manipulate your pay even though jobs are done 100 percent accurate and on time.  Flexibility is great, however the timing on the jobs are never consistent which can be very difficult to plan your weeks. Especially last minute projects that must be done within 3 days, making it difficult for those who schedule their time for the week are left shuffling things around to accommodate. 
 They simply do not value you or your time. 

I joined MCA 5 years ago as a reline helper and then a Rep. I was given the opportunity to progress to a Supervisor, then District Manager and Regional Manager. Each step through the organisation was made with support, guidance and training from management, but with the freedom to add my spin and personality to each role. I was also given the opportunity to experience the role of an Account Manager to see 'life from the other side' and then use this experience back in the field. In my current role as Training & Development Manager, I am in the fortunate position of working with all departments across the business as we embrace the concept that it takes real teamwork from all parties to keep us 'Simply The Best!'

Working for MCA has been an enjoyable experience for me as someone who only needs supplemental hours (aka a second job). 

My supervisor is fantastic and very responsive, as well as understanding. She is the regional manager for the area and I directly communicate with her regularly. 

One con of the job is that you are technically self-employed. Meaning you have to figure out your own taxes. This is no issue for me as I was already self-employed before but this can be difficult/annoying. 

The wage is a bit low for what is required in my opinion, but you do get paid travel time. 

The hours are also lacking even for part-time employment, at around 10 hours per week. I also find I spend more time driving than actually working at the locations, and some locations are roughly an hour apart. 

If you want flexible, part-time employment and you love driving this is the job for you.

Nice part time job to work as self employment.  No benefits. There are short work hours.  Sometimes it is very hard work. There can be a lot of paperwork to do which is not paid by MCA.  A lot of hard working people here.  

MCA expects you to be completely trained within the training time given.  I had 1 day - although I had several years of experience working with other merchandising firms.  I took a lot of notes.

I think they should provide extra money (even a base monthly amount) for all the time spent online retrieving information for jobs, putting in reports which are sometimes lengthy, uploading pictures and all the other time reading emails from supervisors, etc.  Way too much time spent online which could otherwise be spent do more assigned jobs.

Best part of the job is working on your own if you like it.

I worked fir them for 6 months ,no training ,some information which doesn’t help , because in store it is total different . You are looking for prices , compare with flair, we have to calculate , dividend , etc to have the right price plus 
They pay only  $ 15.00 , and to do around 400 items in 3 hours no more .if takes note then 3 hours to finish of course they will not psy , no milage paid , from store to the other , 
Psy will be late not what they said , ( if you do some mistake in price then you have to do again no pay ) they take you for granted , no wander people comes and goes, after few weeks or months . Do I recommend , on my opinion No , if the Individual want to work for nothing , running around without pay, sure go ahead . 


I have met 1 manager in person, and she is amazing. If I had more sales experience, I would take on more with her.
I have done 1 other job with another supervisor/manager, and communication was awful, there was none. At. All. 
I have started another project with another manager, and again, communication, is awful.  Emails aren't read, conversations aren't heard, its rather frustrating because these people are supposed to be there to "lead and direct" me. I cant do my job efficiently, if I cant communicate with my leader. 
I have management experience, and I know what you need to do to succeed and to help others succeed, so far, that is lacking.
Sorry, because I was looking for a long term full time opportunity with the company, and this doesn't help me achieve that goal. Which sucks for me.
