What is the best part of working at the company?
It's a place where transformation is taking place for the betterment of respecting the Metis culture for the children, youth and their families that we serve. Given the nature in roles and the responsibilities of different departments, there is a strong leadership that is bringing about positive change to create better cultural outcomes for the Metis children, youth and families that become involved with my place of work. As an employee, I take great pleasure in exercising my role to contribute in bringing about a positive cultural change or at the very least, there is definitely a shift. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The workload, deadlines and the responsibilities that come with the job. But we all do the best we can within our capacity, in any given moment. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment seems to be continuously improving, and the work culture is shifting from a laxed and Eurocentric work frame to a more Metis culture work frame and space that is infusing Metis culture in its programs and service delivery.

MFS management and employees do their best to create a positive and supportive work culture (in an otherwise difficult field) through team work, communication, and employee/team recognition. The agency works hard to be innovative and flexible when providing services to the Metis community with the goal of keeping families together and kids out of the foster care system. This level of open-mindedness when coming up with out of the box solutions helps you to feel good about the work you are doing as a social worker - and knowing that the agency you work for shares the same values as you helps even more. It's a tough gig, but worth it! 

People are unprofessional throughout the organization and the work-life balance is hard to manage. The management is very cliquey and it is a very strong vertical power structure. Avoid if you can.

Reception duties, not too much interaction with other employees

It was a great experience 

I enjoyed working at MFS.  It was very fulfilling to be able to share cultural teachings and working with families.  I was able to support families and support the return of their children to many.  Building community and sharing the teachings I had learned on my journey was very rewarding.

They try to work as a team as much as possible within the Social Work field; team meetings and case updates. Their dedication to the community is inspiring.

Administrative staff and senior management are extremely unprofessional with how they address their staff and clients. Staff members seem to pick favourites and its saddening. Training is minimal with a sink or swim approach to working and supporting families.

I enjoyed working at MFS it was fast paste day went by fast and work environment was pleasant.   I found it to be fulfilling for me because I was working with our people.
