I worked in the Edmonton office, and the most challenging aspect of this role was the constant uncertainty around job security. There was an ongoing sense of “will today be the day I’m let go,” which created a stressful and unhealthy work environment. If you did not fit in socially, you were largely ignored, and feedback around performance was unclear or inconsistent, leaving employees questioning whether they were meeting expectations.

Management was not transparent, and communication often felt misleading or incomplete. While the company hosts frequent meetings and office social events, the culture itself is unwelcoming. There is a noticeable focus on appearances, and interactions from management often feel judgmental rather than supportive. The environment is cliquey and unprofessional.

Additionally, HR cannot be relied upon for confidentiality. Concerns raised in confidence were discussed openly, which undermines trust and discourages employees from speaking up. Overall, the workplace lacks professionalism, ethical leadership, and psychological safety. I would not recommend this company as an employer.

A typical day at Jones Deslauriers Insurance Management would involve me doing filing, making certificates and liability slips for clients. I also worked as a back-up receptionist during lunch hours and when the receptionist had days off. I learned a lot of new skills on the computer that are insurance related and a few things about Commercial Insurance. My management was great with being flexible if I had an appointment or prior engagement. They also were very helpful when I needed to be taught things coming onto the job. My co-workers were very helpful with helping me learn new things on the computer or about filing, I could always count on them if I couldn't understand things or I needed help. The hardest part of my job would be the dryness of the job. All of the activities that I had to do were pretty uneventful. The most enjoyable part of my job would have been the people that I worked with, they were all very friendly and helpful.

After spending over 10 years at this company, I can confidently say that longevity here does not equate to job stability or respect. The work environment is toxic, and management consistently plays favorites, often going out of their way to make life difficult for those who aren’t in their inner circle.
There’s no consistency — constant changes, chaotic decision-making, and a revolving door of employees have become the norm. Turnover is alarmingly high, and it’s easy to see why: employees are treated like numbers, not people. There’s a complete lack of empathy or compassion from leadership, and any concerns raised are typically ignored or dismissed.
If you’re looking for a workplace that values integrity, stability, and its people — this isn’t it.

A thoughtful company who truly cares about their employees and clients.  An entrepreneurial organization who is solution oriented.  Decisions can be made quickly with no hierarchy.  Great training and mentorship to help you succeed.

This office has to be one of the most toxic places. You can’t trust anyone, they all stab each other in the back. All Levels of Management don’t get along they all fight and create hostile toxic environments. No one feels comfortable and walks on eggshells. The staff turnover is outrageous and the staff they do have are some of the worst people I’ve ever met. The biggest regret in my long career has been the time wasted there. Do yourself a favour and avoid this headache of a place. 

PL is a nightmare/constant chaos. No work life balance. Every file is an E&O. Under paid and no leadership. No culture in the department. 

Nepotism is real here. Managers daughter gets special treatment in same department. Manager gets special treatment from CE bc family friend. 

Was told of a 60-40 service to sales split and spent 99% of my time servicing. 

Run. Don’t walk. Run away. 


The downturn in economy affect this operation so that the work load for most staff was unmanageable.  I have work there for approximately 20 years of my career and they are very goo at developing their staff with dedicated trainers and in-house seminars.

It is nice how much business this company gets but there's just too much for one team to manage and explains the high level of turnover. Management has a very bias view on their employees and need to do better in recognizing hard work rather than play favoritism. 

Edmonton:
No diversity or inclusion whatsoever, no sense of purpose or accomplishment. the worst company I’ve worked for. Location is bad and will be worse after they move. Would not recommend any professional join Lloyd Sadd.
