Nine West

My typical day at work is meeting the needs of the customer, doing cash transactions, stocking shelves with merchandise, labelling shoes with correct prices, help locate shoes in different Nine West locations and doing special order for customers.

I have learned how to provide a good customer service. At first, you need to greet the customers and welcome them to the store. You tell them about the current promotion and you try to build a rapport with the customer. By building the rapport, it tells you what the customer is looking for and you try to meet their specific needs promptly. Furthermore, I have learned that some customers want to do their shopping without the interference of a sales associate. So, when you encounter these types of customers then one needs to give them space and only intervene when you see them having a difficulty locating a product.

The management team is very nice and approachable. They provide a very friendly environment. They keep us posted on how the store is doing in terms of sales and encourage us to provide good customer service. Also, they appreciate the sales associate's hard work by reviewing their performance every three months. These performance appraisals allows us employees to realize that our hard work is not being unnoticed and if we need improvements then there are ways we can rectify our shortcomings. Last year, they started an award program for sales associates. They review three months' sales of the employees and whoever meet their sale goals would receive a free shoe of their choice from the store. I am proud to tell I won a free shoe by meeting my sales goal.

I have a great relationship with my coworkers. We all work as a team. We try to help each other out.

The most enjoyable part of this job is you are meeting new people and you learn everyday to improve yourself. The hardest part of the job is that it can be stressful at times; for example, customers get angry and sometimes they scream at you but you have to stay calm and be civil to them during this time. You have to keep your emotions in check even when they are outright insulting you.

1) Typical day at work would be to clock in and get coached in
- "Coaching" means you get to look at your stats from last week if you worked
 - Manager tells you your SPH (sales per hour), ASPT (average sales per transaction), how close you are to your budget (-% if you made below budget, +% if above your budget), and  what you need to improve on
- It's a productivity report so that you can get better each time you work 
- Manager lets you know the sales goal for the store and your own sales budget, if there are new promotions, new styles that arrived...

2) Customer service and worked on interpersonal/communication skills. Nine West tries to stay trendy so you know what's in and what's new. You learn a lot about the benefits of leather, different types of leather, how to listen to customers needs, and about fashion 

3) Nine West has managers with experience in retail so your manager should be knowledgeable and experienced. Always knows what to do and will always want their sales associates to improve on their skills. I was fortunate to have a great team - small staff but like a family - very professional coworkers/positive environment

4) Sometimes store is so slow that you are sent home or shift is cancelled but sometimes it gets so busy and then there is only 2 of you working; hard to predict rush times. Sometimes you are helping 6 people at once and they ask for 10 pairs of shoes

5) Most enjoyable part is interacting with all sorts of people and creating conversations with them and helping them put together outfits for special events like weddings, birthdays, grads... if you love fashion you will like working here. Good experience

A typical day at work is when I started opening alone at 9:30 in the morning and running the store 'til 2:00 in the afternoon, sometimes even later. I had learned to do stock while running the floor solely on my own. It taught me a lot about independence and multitasking. I learned to handle more than a few customers, while also making them feel they have my undivided attention. The management was good for the beginning, however after I had been promoted, I was taken advantage of, while the other manager was in the office majority of the day. I enjoyed my coworkers company and being in the position of a promotion, I still understood what it was like to be in their shoes and that's what made us get along the most. The hardest part of the job was having no support from management on busier days, as they often stayed in the office, but I definitely learned to cope and to handle it on my own. I really enjoyed the product I was selling, as I am a huge fan of shoes. I adapt quickly, and am able to learn how to familiarize myself with any product while also having exceptional customer service skills. From starting at a sales associate level, after 2 months I moved up to key holder. With just under 2 weeks, I was promoted to manager in training.

Working at Nine West helped me gain a wide variety of skills and helped me uncover many talents I did not know I had. My typical day consisted of opening and/or closing the store, and managing the employees on shift that day. Customers were always welcomed with a warm smile, a promotion and casual conversation while they looked around the store. Help was offered and given to anyone who might need it.

A great part of the job was that I could be myself around customers while still maintaining a professional environment. My bubbly, outgoing personality worked to my advantage in most situations as it made customers feel comfortable and welcome in the store. It was a great feeling being able to fit customers needs and provide them with a product that they loved.

Duties around the store included keeping the displays clean and aesthetically pleasing, making schedules, and ringing customers through. I was also in charge of daily Audits if I opened, and shutting down the store at night.

This company is very sales driven and customer service oriented. As a result it provides a good opportunity to develop  strong customer service skills and the learn about the retail industry and what drives sales. Passion about the products helps to provide better results on the sales floor and it is easy to advertise products as all are required to wear new seasons shoes while working. The work load varies from fairly easy sales focused to hard if there is lots of stock and little personnel to share the work load. This is a new location and the company has gone through many changes, however over the years the products have become more expensive, the discounts and benefits have gone down and though there is an expectation to meet sales goals there is no commission and little opportunity for advancement. Overall it is a strong sales team and the interpersonal relationships formed among them that makes working here a lot better than it is.

1 I love Saturdays, mostly because the day flies by in a flash. plus Saturdays our end of the week so that's when we do our papers works and review employee productivities and its so much fun to work with all the numbers and seeing how everyone did it really interests me. 
2. I learned a lot, while I was with the company. I learned how to communicate with multiple people and I learned how to build my own clients. 
3. managing can be a bit hard at first time. i got used it really fast, its very challenging. however, I learned so many things from it. I enjoyed it.
4. my co-workers are pretty fun to work with. we get a long well. always had good communications one another. 
5. the hardest part of the job is when customer start complaining about the store policy or products. 
6 I loved everything about the job. customers are very responsive and easy to work with. the staff were well training and it just so easy to be around with people like us.

A typical day at work would would start by clocking in on the computer. I would service customers by bringing the right (or closest) size of shoe that they would like to try on. Then I would sell the product to them by telling them my experience with the shoe or my knowledge of the shoe and company. My management was a bit disorganized with the schedule and would change last minute in which my employer would not contact me when changed. other then the disorganization my co-workers were the best. We all had excellent teamwork and ended up making many close friends. The hardest part of the job was when the store got crowded and I had about five different customers ask for service but I enjoyed this part the most because I excel in fast-paced environments and I like to be always moving and doing something with my hands

Working at Nine West Wearhouse was an interesting experience because of the people I got to meet with my time working there. The management of the wearhouse was very straightforward and stricted at times. what I've learned within my time working there was learning to wake up everyday of the week with only weekends off. It was a little out of my comfort zone at first but i got used to it with time. There was nothing very difficult about working there because it very easy for me to connect with people no matter their age or background. Most enjoyable thing was trying different foods from different cultures.

I worked about 5-6 days per week and normally got 5-8 hour shifts. I would walk into a very bright and friendly environment with awesome customers. We had a goal of how much we would have to sell in shoes daily, normally being around $800. I found this to be easy and somewhat relaxing and time always flew by. Most of the time I worked on the sales floor chatting with customers and assisting them by answering their questions and bringing them shoes from the back. There were a handful of days I worked in the backroom. When in the backroom I would deal with the stock that had come in and organize the shoes. Unfortunately I was already working full time overnight with a higher salary and working both jobs was taking a toll on my health so I had to leave.
