The pay sucks. Directors would rather line their own pockets than provide a decent raise to frontline staff. For the longest time staff hadn't gotten a raise, close to 10 years, staff finally received a very small raise . Benefits are good. Time off isn't too bad if you've been with the agency a while. We've been asked if we were OK with a change of direction regarding supervisory positions to be changed from seniority only to an interview and seniority, we did not agree upon this but they did so anyway. It makes moving up in the agency next to impossible especially if the directors don't like you or if you aren't good at interviews. They have also taken away our rights to work STATs. Often short staffed, quality of the relief staff is poor and a high turn over rate.

I had many different days at work for I have worked in the field for over 35 years in many different areas and levels of the individuals needs. I found it was always very important to get to know each individual for it would help you to understand and to relate to what is going on in their lives. The last 5 years I worked in a work setting. It was important to work together as a team to accomplish the days goals. Every day was different with new challenges and goals.

Bullying, mobbing in the workplace are commonplace. Union is only as 
good as reps chosen to represent workers. Management uses union reps and employees to pit one against the other. Management has no respect for years of experience and treats all as disposable. Except themselves as they tend to micro manage all. Have been no raises for employees for several years but management have given themselves a raise each year.
Most management are on Ont. Sunshine list , as earning over 100, 000 a yr. This while every client expenses is question and must be validated by them.

After waiting 2+ years for the agreed date for arbitration, we were advised yesterday by our union that the employer was not
'prepared'. We are now told that we have to wait another month for arbitration. Levels of feeling disrespected from this employer still leaves my shocked at times.

1) inadequate pay

2) supervisors are in the union; big conflict of interest

3) lack of awareness in how to lead by example

4) lack of respect

5) lack of interest on how to truly improve as an organization

Staff tend to be really supportive of one another, and care a lot for the individuals they support. The workload can be unmanageable, especially when working short staffed or when there are behaviors. Directors and supervisors can be very supportive. 

OCAPDD provides a good and supportive work environment. Opportunity for advancement is low. It is very difficult to get a permanent position within the agency as everything is seniority based.

Over worked and underpaid. No support at all from management. It was nice working for the individuals that I support, there was always something new to look forward to each day

Terrible to their employees. Horrible Management. Management don't know how to answer questions when staff call and need assistance. Useless Agency. Do not recommend. 

Workplace culture is not always healthy. The suppported individuals are nice, met some good staff but also some not so good ones.
Management isn't always fair

Stressful work environment, poor management, bullying at workplace. I do not recommend to choose this work place. The management is not good, the environment is toxic so think before taking any kind of job.
