Very positive, friendly environment. Staff work well together. The families are awesome.It is very professional. Clean and Organised. Great program planning. There is adequate equipment and supplies to run the program. Children are encouraged to give their input and suggest activities. We offer indoor and out door time. The space we use is air conditioned in the summer and warm in the winter.

Very smooth working day busy some time other time

The job involves looking after children from various age categories. This means I can have fun yet I need to discipline people who aren't cooperating. I wouldn't recommend this job if leadership roles, outdoors and money + time is an issue.

The job is amazing, in that you get to support children in need. Unfortunately, you are almost always understaffed. If you have a great resource team, that helps a lot. Every year the pay and benefits seem to get worse, while the job demands become greater. That said, benefits are great and summers off is nice

Work Life balance is a challenge. Our board will just always follow the larger board in Ottawa-OCDSB. Regardless, all boards in Ontario are tied by the government making things increasingly difficult on teachers and wanting to take away more and more. 

The OCSB is a friendly working environment. A welcoming workplace with a ton of interaction among teachers, parents, students, and contractors. Organized, planned out day, with an assigned section of work...

Would recommend working in this type of environment to anybody who loves kids and has a special place for taking care and teaching them. Everybody was extremely kind and helpful while I was getting the hang of things.

No  training. No guidance. One person's job was seperated to 3-4 to do. So most of the time what they were doing was office politics. If you dare to improve some process, you are out. 

Working with youth requires patience and a positive approach in each day. I enjoyed leading by good example in sport and self-discipline. I also enjoyed learning to be in a work environment.

no job security, there is no typical work day............sent all over never knowing what you would be doing  or who you would be working with or where.  Always a different location.
