I had a great base crew foreman, he is honest, took feedback well and was understanding of pre employment conversation had about boundaries and limitations. I'd work for that foreman again if he went to a different company. 

Upper management is kind of backwards, they don't do anything that's beneficial for staff. They don't provide water, freezies etc in heatwaves like other companies do, they don't stop working at excessive heat days, and they expect you to work 7 days a week to meet a deadline that they put the crew behind on in the first place. They bid on jobs and overwhelm themselves maybe? They can't retain staff because they overwork them. They have huge safety guidelines all involving fatigue but run you like a dog like as if working 12 hours a day for 6-7 days a week there's enough time to do your life duties and responsibilities and get enough sleep to rest your fatigued body. Management needs a whole overhaul, or to retire. 

Good company and staff. A good mix of old school and new ways of working and  it’s a great way to build experience and there’s pathways within. Trust is a big thing it seemed when I was on the crews, if you messed up you kinda got put on the hand labour work and tedious tasks until you got an opportunity again to work with equipment. Very safety oriented and you will be called out for not wearing certain pieces of hardware. If you do your job properly, ask questions before you do something you’re not sure about, and aren’t lazy. It is a very good construction job compared to many others. As for pay it all kinda depends on your lifestyle. Lots of opportunities for overtime and if you don’t have lots of bills to pay it’s well worth it if you’re young and looking for experience 

A typical day at work would consist of getting my machine ready for use, checking oil, fluids and other mechanics related to the type of equipment.  I was also in charge of directing the placement of trucks, pedestrians and motorists.  Every day was a new day and there were always new instances that occurred that required me to be thinking and reacting to the highest level.  There were peoples lives in my hands not to mention my own life.  I would say that the hardest part of my day was the heat from the sun.  Even though I took every precaution, the heat was sometimes unbearable.  The people that I worked with were great people and helped make the time pass while we were waiting for material.

I worked here for over 5 years, and hoped things would improve in that time.. but instead it has taken a nose dive. Definitely not the family company it was years ago. Very top heavy company, lots of management who makes things way more difficult than they should be. Most workers stay for the other employees, as they are the only bonus of working here. Almost impossible to book time off unless you lie about medical appointments. Equipment is garbage and poorly maintained. Save yourself the hassle and don’t work here. Trucking foreman is not a real foreman, and knows nothing about the safe operation of a vehicle. Period. Be prepared for a million emails, and being required to use your own phone/data with 0 compensation. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working outside is always a good time. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When the Forman starts taking his stress out on the crew. My Forman on base crew is known for taking out his problems on his crew. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's usually pretty good. The company is fairly family oriented. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Every day is different. You could be digging a hole to china with a shovel, or you could be on a roller for hours on end.  Every site is different, with its own specific demands for each site.

The supervisors and foreman's were great to work for , but they could have organized day to day work better. The machinery needs more up keep and the company needs to bring there outlook into doing projects into the 21st  century. They don't care about your opinions or outlook on how something can be done, the older workers  are narrow minded and treat the next generation like they don't know anything. Other then that it's not a bad place to work it's just a place that needs to clean up upper management and start filling those positions wit competent people from the next generation

Working there was great, at first.  Then you realize the family first.  You can be as dedicated, a hard worker, there to make a change, but you get low pay, no vacation and no benefits.  The culture was making a great change, until a family member got hired and was a backstabbing liar.  Making teams and people fight each other, taking a good team and screwing them all over.  The Fath brother’s need to know when they have a good thing, try everything you can to keep it.  

Very good workplace. long hours and steady work. a typical workday begins with checking truck. management is easy to get along with and understanding. all the co-workers are very friendly and nice. the hardest part of the job are the long hours and the most enjoyable part of the job is being on the road. making customers happy and seeing the smile on they faces knowing you brought satisfaction at the end of the day.

Due to recent changes in the company structure and culture a person has to watch out for the backstabbers. There is little to no loyalty from management to employees. Poor l adersh from management to foreman down to employees. Long hours and mass  disorganization.  If you want a place to collect a paycheque and don’t mind foolishness, this is your place.

If you like walking on egg shells around the foreman because his attitude changes from extremely happy to extremely mad at the drop of a hat. Very dishonest. More interested ine flag girls than work. Very incompetent. 0% attitude for safety of his crew, just getting work done as fast as possible.
