OLDE YORKE FISH & CHIPS

The Olde Yorke Fish and Chips is my favourite work experience so far. I worked in takeout as a part-time employee which was a perfect job for me as I was also attending high school. I usually worked around 12-15 hours a week. I also played hockey during the winter season so when I needed time off (for other things as well) management was always there to help as well as friendly co-workers there to switch. Everyone who works there is quite friendly and the environment is great. Lots of laughs and great memories. The job itself wasn't too hard but definitely requires collaboration and organizational skills. Working here I built my customer service skills and vastly improved my ability to work with others. The most enjoyable part of the job was by far the social aspect. Getting to know and work with others/new people as well as having social interactions with customers was awesome! Last but not least, the food is flippin fantastic. Go get a job at the Olde Yorke!

Having suffered from PTSD and with the management too hard on me, lacking empathy and communication, I crumbled and got fired after probation. One of the lowest point in my life. Rock bottom. 
I had promised to get better and outdo my self everyday. People make mistakes, miscalculated, poor judgement, but all of it were never intentional.  Was shamed in front of other coworkers and in some occasion in front of the customers. And  to a point where one of the customers had to encourage me to continue doing good because he heard the management talking about me. 
It’s taking a toll on my mental health and brought down my self confidence.  

This is by far one of the worst gigs in Toronto!!! Outdated views and excessive criticism. Management is the owners who know absolutely nothing about hard work, yet feel comfortable working their staff excessively. The job itself is easy but with such poor management it makes for an uncomfortable environment to work in. Constant fear of losing your position if you speak on things that are improper. For your mental health, I’d stay as far away as possible.

Despite putting in consistent hard work and receiving positive feedback from customers, the management never acknowledged efforts. Instead, they were dismissive and showed no respect for the time and energy I invested. It was disheartening to see my efforts go unnoticed, especially when the customers themselves were happy with my service. By far the worst place I have worked despite being priced on being a "family". Respect your mental health? Don't work here.

I was fired during probation period after being told I was working out well had great feed back from customers worked really hard.
Worst part was being fired with no explanation still think about what I possibly could’ve done to deserve being fired.
All employees not created equal hard workers are asked to do more while other stand around common sense is not a practice in the restaurant .

I worked as a server at the Olde Yorke Fish and Chips prior to the pandemic.
 Olde Yorke is a great team to work with and you make a good income as a server. The managers are fair and friendly. Your coworkers both in the FOH & BOH make for a welcoming environment to work in. Many staff have been with Olde Yorke for a long time. 

Servers avoid! The managers/ owners don't put in the hours expected of their staff. They are not supportive and never appreciate hard work which they know nothing about.  They are  highly critical and judgemental.  There are many other places to work where your tips aren't put on your paycheck and taxed. Depressing environment. 

By far the worst place I have ever worked. If you want to be treated with zero respect, work here. Horribly managed, favouritism exists, and no work life balance because owners do not care about their staff. Owners want you to worship the ground they walk on. Truly the most toxic environment I have ever worked in. 

I enjoyed being a server at Olde Yorke . Coworkers got along well, including the kitchen team. Workplace morale was for the most part positive and I felt supported by the owners. Very regular guests. I made good money, cant complain.

I have never worked at a place where I was tested so poorly by management. No work/life balance, poor pay, TOXIC. I would be asked to cover shifts endlessly and the favour was never returned. I was promised a raise that I never received.
