The day was hired as part time.( Slot Technician)  I went to pick up my Gaming License which I paid  out my pocket($165 Dollars). The person in charge to handle  the Gaming License told me. It is good for 5 years. I hope you last that long. That was 1st bad impression.
The same day at night time I saw on the news that they laid off the full timer. 2nd bad impression.
On the contract they never told me when it will be the starting date.I waited 3 weeks from the Management for a start date. I want to let know my old workplace 2 weeks in advance as indicated by law I was going to quit. I never say anything on my old workplaced and when OLG told me to start on Monday of the week. I was still employed so I call them and explain the situation to them. That I had a conflict of schedules If they can switch me after my work hours to work for them .They left me wating on the phone for 15 minutes because they said they were going to talk to somebody. I hang up and the next day I had call from HR explaning that my availability changed which I only had 2 options submit to the schedule from them or resigned. I told her I am going to refuse your offer of empoyment and then she said since you never work a day for us we are not going to refund you the $ 165 Dollars and to make things easy on my end .Could write me a letter saying that you are resigning.

How I am supposed to resigned If I never work a day.?  As a gesture of good heart for the HR person at the moment in time after 48 Hrs I send her an e-mail stating I was refusing their job offer. at the end I lost $ 165 Dollars for this little adventure to be employed for the OLG.

Unbelievable how a company can treat their employees with no respect.  It's transition time at OLG Flamboro downs and our  managers are slashing staff customer service hours to justify they are worthy of keeping their "high paying hide in your office jobs". All departments are feeling the negative effects of being pushed to their limits dealing with angry customers waiting in long lines at the cashier and winner's circle counters. Now with reduced money on hand we are faced with ABM and CTR  machines frequently running out of money. We had a great place with top notch customer service here but greed took over that.  Part time staff who depend on OLG for a pay cheque to pay bills, housing and every day needs are faced with the reality 6 hour shifts down from 8's to fill in the gaps and with potential of losing their much needed benefits.  Great Canadian Gaming hasn't taken over yet although the cage manager decided to jump ahead and change staff schedules prior to the new service provider making their own choices. Staff who challenged these changes were told "that's the way it is" or you can quit. Working for OLG for many years and this is how we are treated?
Do our managers know how to do the jobs we do on daily basis in the event we need them to help?  Probably not!!! Good luck to our new service provider taking over this mess!!!

Management seems to have a double standard.Extra breaks and bending rules are the norm for them. Writing you up for something they do on a regular basis is a favorite pass time for them. Ordering the hourly staff around instead of saying please is yet another quality management trait. The VP of gaming when asked about how employees not being allowed to play any lotteries was affecting the numbers, simply stated - " I don't care, it doesn't affect my incentive".

If you don't mind crazy hours, odd shifts, feeling un-appreciated by both patrons and management, Working weekends, Working Holidays, hearing daily stories about - rigged machines - and loosing ones shirt, OLG casinos and Racetracks are exactly what you want to strive for.

Work / life balance is almost non existent.
Advancement only applies if you leave your site, and or are buddies with management ( take smoke breaks with them, and hang out)

Extra training and career building was/is non existent.
If you ask about further training or what you should take to gain advancement, they may get back to you in 72 hours.

Wages are great, benefits are good too. Incentive is a buzz word.

I can't say enough nice things about OLG.

I was hired at the initial stages of building/opening OLG Thousand Islands Casino. I was hired as an Administrative Assistant to the General Manager. When the GM was promoted to VP I applied and was hired as the Executive Assistant.  

When the VP left OLG his position was not filled and my position was no longer required.  As I did not want to leave OLG at the time, I accepted a lower position as Dept Assistant.

I enjoy working with the management team and the constant switching of duties as required.  I enjoy taking on projects and working towards meeting the timelines. Every day is a different according to what any of the managers require or how I can assist another department.

The hardest part at the moment is OLG is up for offer to the private industry which is bringing the unknown.

I am working towards a Technology Fundatmentals Certificate and with my extensive experience in the Business Field, I have a lot to offer any prospective employer.

Worked various shifts any day of the week on a two week schedule given in advance. Greeted, conversed, assisted and safely transported OLG patrons on the shuttle bus. Provided information as available to me concerning bus schedules and operations at the OLG Rideau-Carleton Slots.
I learned further customer service and abilities to assist patrons in any manner required for their safe and enjoyable experience upon boarding, travelling and arrival at the OLG Slots location on Albion Road.
My management were easy to get along with and take instruction from, I got along well with my co-workers and would be flexible to help them out with extended or substitute shifts.
I enjoyed driving and the social element of providing a service for the casual and frequent patrons.
The hardest part of the job was probably with the occasional (other) driver en route to and from the gambling location. But I am a patient, reliable and civil person by nature so this was just a condition that goes along with the safe transportation of patrons.

A typical day at work was very rewarding. It included a lot of variety. I worked with instant tickets. I closed the Instant games and balanced the inventory at end of game, transfered instant tickets to regions to ensure even flow and requirements of tickets by the regions, approved invoices for said games and arranged for destruction of instant tickets periodically as needed. I learned how important attention to detail, timely delivery and good communications were to the distribution and sale of the instant games. Management and co-workers were great to work with and highly supportive. The hardest part of the job was going home at night. I really enjoyed my job. The most enjoyable part of the job was the variety of tasks performed and the end result of working with an instant game from the begining to the end.

As a former employee i loved my job for the first 10 yrs until new management decided to change operations to the department i was working in .Instead of asking the employees who did the job on a daily basis what they thought about the changes they went ahead and implemented the changes .90 percent of the employees did not like the changes as they where not hired for the other position and eventually the casino lost some of their best employees.This seems to be the way with the casino in the way that they do not care about the employees and as always keep the people who are the worst workers.They never seem to listen to the employees who are doing the job if they did the atmosphere and the employees would be a lot happier in their job and therefore would give the OLG 100 percent .

I worked with the Brantford Casino for 15yrs One of the first to be hired    During this time I enjoyed working with external as well as internal staff    My day was spent helping the many guests feel welcome and enjoy the gaming  experience I also worked with and balanced high volumes of cash on a regular basis  I balanced cash drawers as well as the many banking machines and  the very busy casino bank  While working with the casino I was given counterfit  training as well as Fintac training (money laundering and proceeds of crime detection)       I got along with all staff my managers and coworkers  The hardest part of my job was working the grave shift   I really enjoyed working with the guests as well as staff members and at times could hardly wait to begin my day working here

I had a good rapport with the customers I served and also with my co-workers. We were constantly changing due to the nature of the gaming industry and at our site as well. We were constantly learning new procedures and develping better ways to serve our customers needs. The most enjoyable part of the job was my co-workers as we had a lot of laughs even when things at times could be stressful due to the nature of the gaming industry.
The most difficult part of the job was probably the different shifts. Management was there to support us in our daily activities, and seemed to believe in our abilities to do and effective job.

Overseeing the entire operation for a Crown Corporation providing leadership to over 300 employees. Responsible for setting and achieving financial results through budget preparation and market analysis. Also responsible for employee engagement through Corporate Core Values.
The culture is one of optimism for the future as Modernization brought an expansion to the product offerings and an increase in revenues.

The most enjoyable part of the job was working with the staff. Whether it was being alongside the frontline to answer their questions or to work, and guide, the leadership team, each day brought something new and refreshing to the table.
