If you like to work consatnly under stress and without any support then this place is for you! Lack of support, professionalism and most of all compassion for their workers equals zero. The head office managemnet has no interest in giving any kind of support when it comes to more staff on the floor, training, they are very non coherent and vague about their business ideas and they expect you to run their business as if it was your own. They want you to work more hours and see how and when you are going to say no. So they push you to the limits of non sustainable level. In a plain words, they clearly don't care about people they employ and you should be happy to work in such unhealthy and dehumanized environment! If you are a manager for Olsen don't expect to have any assistance from your regional manager and better try to find a more decent place to work for as we are all human beings who need to be respected and keep our health priority! 
They wanted me as a new manager to work without anyone's help during opening after Covid lockdowns each time and put all this load of stock onto me and overwhelm me with work for 3 people! Unexpected!
It is very unfortunate for someone my age and with my managerial experience to have gone through such a degrading and demeaning ordeal.
Long hours,  working alone,  shipment of boxes every week of 10 and more,  merchandising on your own,  understaffed,  rearranging the whole store every 3-4 days by yourself, on busiest days you are left alone to work with customers and do all you admin work plus merchandising, you have to call your clients plus send them emails on a daily basis and collect all other info whilst the HO sits in their chairs and try to brainstorm all this ridiculous ideas of how to improve the business  (so they can justify their jobs) that you are required to diligently execute - so obviously not good relationship between HO and floor - constant issue.  
I am just thinking of what was enjoyable part of the job…working with people since I do enjoy working with people and maybe some clothes. But you can get this at any other retail.
So, bottom line if you are up to working 40+hours a week without having a proper brake go for it!

Opening the store and doing the staffs daily hours and checking their budgets and working with the staff to achieve them. Keeping a eye on the competitors and letting head office know on any sales they were having weekly.  Keeping eye on the KPI of the store. Figuring out how were were going to achieve them. Getting involve with the stores around creating a buzz in the community to attract people into our stores. Teaching the staff to be great ambassadors of our store and product. Looking for ways to promote out store. Ex: TV, fashion shows in the area, getting in touch with golf courses and hotels to have them invite us to functions. It was very important to our company to have promotions like these monthly. This was all free advertisements, some worked other worked somewhat. 
I worked with for of the most strongest ladies in my career.   It was a challenge to win their trust. once we were all on the same page of thinking. We worked out to be a fantastic team. Meeting our targets and budgets. I always believe you are only as good as the team you work with. 

The hardest part of the job was keeping on top of the personality conflicts. Making sure all were happy. A happy group of women is a productive group of women. 

Seeing my girls successfully reach their goals and become such good co-workers.  Now they would help each other out with out any thoughts at all.

To work at Osen was fun it was challenging some times for the amount of dead lines. I was part of a great team the marketing and PR department. I learned  a lot in many different areas. The two first managements gave me amazing opportunities, I meet very professional people with  good values and that was a huge plus.
Probably for me the hardest part was the change of management, it was always hard to see them leave and hard to proof that you were the right person to work in your position...
the most enjoyable part was to finish a project and get recognize and acknowledge your job, that was always very good to see.
And I had my wear drop benefits twice a year and i definitely enjoyed that!

Trying to understand your culture try to understand where they’re coming from. In other words very good.

Replenish make sure all the garments look need and polished clean the store

The teams I work with are lively and know their things.

The amount of hours I get. They don't have enough hours for me o lr othe5 team mates.

You do what you know best. Managers can back you up if you make sense. Each team mate knows what they are supposed to do.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Meet and Greet customers, tell them of the current promotions to sell.

Olsen is smaller than what I have done in the past. But with this comes more of a sense of belonging! My superiors are fantastic, and easy to get ahold of. Their business model makes sense and they don't waste money on foolish things like many companies do. Some days can be very long and slow, but it's nice to be able to breathe some days. I would say the pay is just a tad on the lower side. However, this is a small store and company.

It has a great clothing allowance, but it has to, because the clothing is quite high  priced. The hours that they give to stores are not feasible to run your store with the demands that they have. The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to help my clients.
The least enjoyable was the boredom that would set in on a daily basis




Olsen Europe is a great place to work. The environment is very enriching. I LOVED my work.

Start the day at 8.30 AM greeting everyone.

My experience at Olsen's was a mixed one.  We were in the main floor of the Bay at Chinook Centre, Calgary, Alberta.  
The clothing allowance is very generous.  Thank you.
Enjoyed the training in Transfers, Closing, learning to visualize and merchandise the beautiful clothes.
