Stable but staid workplace. Great if you value job security or love a particular area of public policy/economics/data analysis, but highly lacking if you value an innovative or tight office culture, work life balance, creature comforts (such as functioning heating or electrical outlets), or modern IT and office settings. Prepare to have all your work edited and re-written by management until you no longer recognize it, and to be expected to stay ultra late on a regular basis (sometimes well past midnight). Not a place where you can engage in debates with management - you do what you're told.

I am very pleased that I had the opportunity to work at the Treasury Board Office of the Ministry of Finance (MOF) for my internship. The MOF is a fun, fast paced, and challenging environment to work in. All the staff were welcoming and willing to share their knowledge. The entire office has a culture of learning, which allowed me to further develop my professional skills. From the moment I began, I took part in an internship orientation session, participated in numerous lunch-and-learns, team meetings, a division day, and a board meeting with Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and executive senior management.

A very good place to work.Learned a good deal of accounting and tax matters. learned how to manage time and people. Every aspect is controlled by rules and regulations. sometime it stifles the individual initiative. Co-workers were fun to workwith.

I learned a great deal of experience in working there, I was able to gain experience in many field including dissemination of information, research work , classification of files and documents

- Assisted auditor in filing records
- Helped support tracking audits
- Helped process auditors expense claims
- Made sure auditors received correspondence and financial statements by contacting clients and gathering information

Ministry of Finance is an amazing organization to work. Friendly and diverse environment with highly skilled communicators. I love coding according to accessibility standards here.

working for the ontario ministry of finance is a great start for an economist to learn the workings of economic analysis in a practical setting. More importantly get a feel for the intricate mesh of economics and politics

It's a decent job with decent wage. Technology is lacking and performance measures are outdated. Training needs improvement and upper management needs to be more aware of how collections work

Worked as a consultant.  Good work life balance.  Located at Michael Star building in Oshawa.  A wonderful experience working along with business managers, BAs, testers and developers.

A relaxed and slow work culture (as is typical for government). However, this means little room for growth. Likely stuck in same job for a while unless you get lucky. Hard to land a permanent position.
