pressure is on techs but organization growth. rapidly ....... techs hired hourly wages has to please project managers hired  salary wages , you have to do standby long hours to get less hours to earn.  according to contract with clients. example your project manager wants you to cover in a site with such clients all have to do is to please project manager though client that want you to be standby duties, you will be in/out frequently;15 minutes in every 2 hours or more at the site with prolonged hours you should stay at lab with no specific duties.  the tech on duty earn half or 1/3 of standby hours.all other hours is unclaimed though you are on either site or at lab.

Originally, as Stewart Weir, this was a great company to work for with average benefits and a good and friendly enough culture.

Management and departmental silos have always been an issue though.

In 2013, was bought out by a New Zealand-based company, and all was sort of alright. In 2014, the layoffs started to align with the company's new fiscal goals, and continued on in waves until July/August of 2016.

The waves of layoffs and cutbacks severely damaged the niceness of working there; the culture and general atmosphere noticeably changed,

During my stay in Opus, I enjoyed all my time working with great team members. The company was fair in every respect with great working environment for its employees. I don't forget the lovely coffee machine in every corner you can walk-in and make your best flavored coffee to begin your day with blessing.

Management of this company seemed more interested in retaining their ISO9000 designation then completing the work in a timely and profitable fashion. the people that dealt directly with the field level staff were top notch, those above not so much.

Opus Stewart Weir management is the problem there.  They have blinders on.  They promote people who can "talk" a good talk, not actual experience or talent. 

They waste money on stupid things and then go lay people off.  

They had too many staff for the jobs.

I did appreciate job when I first started but got back doored and lost my job. Did not feel like i was appreciated, felt like a number not an employee.

Work at Opus is enjoyable and they are really flexible with time off.
Good team culture and room for advancement.
Recent economic downturn has made things tough but that is the consulting industry.

Very unorganized company. You never know how long you will be working. Little to none communication between departments. Office staff are rude. Project managers do not reply in a timely manner to clients.

Great company to work for, with growth and opportunities to evolve with new technologies, good work place culture while managing changes in the economy and in the market place.

can require a lot of travel.work can be dependant on the economy
