Came to work for them with promises of working towards my goals as a tradesperson. Got thrown into the lowest paying, poorest gratifying job in the plant while my younger and less experienced peers were hired immediately as fitters. I have since been moved to the 'junk' area into fitting, and told by my foreman that I can handle working alone (with poor/no training). 

The management here is terrible, most of the foremen don't care and are coasting on near-retirement, are contributing to a culture of disrespect and lack of direction/confidence. Hard to take pride in your work when there is no positive reinforcement for hard work. I break my back daily and put myself in a situation where my high standard of quality and work is now expected at all times, despite everyone else showing little motivation to do the same. I have to take personal responsibility to take up the slack that everyone else leaves because of the overarching sense of toxicity and hopelessness. 

No one wants to work hard because they know it doesn't get recognized. People asking for their raises get denied even when they work hard to try and show their motivation. It's awful. The turnaround here is a huge red-flag indicator of how bad it has gotten.

If upper and middle management don't assess their own shortcomings in this company, there are only so many millions of dollars you can sink into new equipment before they realize that their soon-to-be-retiring talent are all that is keeping this place afloat. It's great and all that you have acquisition of new machinery, client and contract acquisition, and corporate expansion, but your plants are failing their people.

I may be quiet, but I am not uneducated. I feel demoralized, disillusioned, mislead, and taken-advantaged. My dignity has been thoroughly shredded with the constant belittlement through (in)action. I don't trust this company, especially when I stated my goals of learning, and advancing toward my red seal. I'm not even working in my field of study. I'm dragging heavy steel plate around several football fields worth of distance every day. I'm tired. I want to be working skillfully with my hands, not be treated like an uneducated grunt for the rest of my career. I'm not young anymore. My body is telling me of the damages done over the span of my life.

A typical workday is a mix of routine and adhoc works, keeping things interesting. I've learned that being flexible and ready for anything is important because each day brings new things to tackle.

Management is supportive and clear in their communication, it motivates everyone to do their best. Specially they are very close to employees and keep friendly manner to make the workplace more effective.

A friendly, diverse, and open culture makes us feel like we belong and encourage new ideas. Also it leads to keep us more comfortable and openminded in the field which I always love to work with.

The toughest part of the job is often dealing with operation related tasks, so having a good field knowledge will be a great advantage. To visit plants and have a idea what they do is the best which is not really doable in a short time period. But these challenges also help you grow by teaching you how to search, dig down and ask others perspectives to solve problems.

The best part of the job is the feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day, which always can be known as work life balance since there is nothing to worry after work. Not only that the great relationships with your coworkers, the chance to learn from them, and the satisfaction of knowing you're helping the company succeed give us the good feeling about the company. Overall, it's a mix of these things that makes work enjoyable.



Most days at the company you are doing new and different things. This provides you as an individual a great chance to learn new skills and information while also building upon your existing skillset and experiences.  

Management is also extremely positive, very forward looking, and are always looking for ways to improve your day-to-day life while in the workplace.   

The workplace culture is another place where this company strives. They are super inclusive, and everyone is always polite and willing to help. They also do a great job of creating and hosting work events for you and your family!

I think the hardest part of the job is learning all of the different business lines and how they operate as each one is unique. While this is quite tedious at points it also allows you as an individual to grow and learn new skills each day.

The most enjoyable part of this job thus far for me has to be my co-workers. They make every day enjoyable and are always making sure you're doing okay. I find this makes everyone feel valued and also helps with keeping the morale up and making sure the work is done well.

Worked here my entire career, left last year, best thing I ever did .
I did have a previous review up but was called out on it  by a certain manager because I spoke the truth. Hence, performance bonus that I received for many years was not paid out……. whatever!! Contrary to the positive comments recently added, this is not a good place to work, they promote people into roles they are not suited for, and have zero management experience and people skills, only promoted because of who they know.  They only care about their bottom line, no empathy for employees that might be going through difficult times , forget about reaching out to HR as they are only there for the company. If you do speak your mind, instead of management addressing your concerns, be prepared to be sent off on courses for a little brain washing……Choose  your career path wisely, if you want some experience, this is the place for you,  get what you can and move on. Good luck to you new employees and watch your backs, suck up to management and you will do fine !!

Good pay with diverse tasks and a sense of accomplishment when tasks are performed  successfully.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of authority in certain circumstances  that prevent you from achieving all the results that you think are possible. This is due to the conflict between production, delivery and quality requirements.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Cooperative for the most part and your coworkers are supportive. Challenging and fast paced with high expectations for performance and results.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Check emails. Work on projects to develop administer and promote the quality management system. Attend meetings related to before mentioned functions to establish priorities and timelines.

As a steel estimator, a typical day involves reviewing blueprints, calculating material quantities, and preparing cost estimates. I enjoy it because I learn new things every day, as construction is constantly evolving with new concepts and designs. Moreover, the workplace culture is collaborative and focused on accuracy, and I have developed valuable skills in project management, budgeting and resource allocation. The most enjoyable part is the constant opportunity to grow professionally while delivering precise estimates that contribute to the success of each project. 

It's a special place to work where you can find everything you need to execute your tasks with maximum accuracy. There are opportunities to learn and grow professionally. The management is great, with special attention to people's needs and good flexibility. 
The work environment is quiet, everyone is friendly and kind. The hardest part is to get used to all the necessary components to execute the job; they are so many! Though as you grow and develop your technical skills it tends to be easier. 
The stability is the best part of the job. Also, all the work supplies available for the employees are good. Great company to work, very professional. Fits well with my skills and my needs, and I hope to remain here for a long time.

This company rewards hard work and recognizes the small victories. Although the line of work is often challenging (which I enjoy), working with a diverse team of people, who all have the same goal in sight, makes every day enjoyable and no two days alike.

What I love most about OSCO is that there is always room for movement and advancement. You'll never feel pigeonholed in your position and are always encouraged to work toward your goals.

Bringing work home all the time without getting paid for it, they expect you to learn everything very fast...made it hard to reach deadlines

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They made a job offer I couldn't refuse, told me it would take a year or more to be comfortable doing job....then laid me off after 6 months. I refused other jobs because of this. Totally blindsided. Apparently this is what large coroporations like this do all the time.
