I had a positive experience working at [Electrical Company Name], and I’d recommend it to those who prioritize a supportive and collaborative work environment. The team culture stood out as a major highlight of my time there—everyone was approachable, easy to talk to, and genuinely willing to help. It made the day-to-day tasks more enjoyable and allowed for a strong sense of camaraderie among the employees.

However, one downside was the pay, which I found to be lower than what’s typically offered in the industry for similar roles. While this might be fine for someone starting out or looking for a less stressful workplace, it might not meet the expectations of those with more experience or higher financial needs.

Overall, the company offers a friendly and positive environment, but there’s room for improvement when it comes to compensation and benefits to attract and retain top talent

Very good company.  The supervisors and coworkers are very respectful.  Always there is a clean, warm and decent place to take the breaks even if the construction is in the open and the outside temperature is in the lows -10 degrees Celsius. Also, enough washrooms available with some of them with heating system during winter time, and running water.  The tools are always in good conditions and in enough quantities for the crews in the different areas of the construction site. The hardest part of the job is when the contract is over and there are not enough openings in the next contract and the company has to proceed with lay offs.  The most enjoyable part is the teamwork and the annual Christmas party.

No work life balance
Culture is difficult.  Colleagues are scared to speak up for fear of losing job..
No communication with staff, n meetings,
New people come and go.  They see the culture and within days/weeks/months.... just pick up and go.
Management not doing a great job at employee retention
Colleagues are miserable and Management don't care.
Management has an attitude, "don't like it, there's the door".
No sense of security, safety
Long hours are required - as you must complete your tasks!  
No appreciation for working hard

No room for advancement.  Especially from within.

Company doesn't care about you at all. Gets rid of good workers then keeps the bad ones and says hurry up we need this done. Upper management doesn't let the foremen run their job sites. Too much telling people what to do from behind the scenes and not understanding how the job site moves efficiently. No matter how hard you work, you go to work every day scared that today is the day you get laid off. They try to run jobs with the least amount of men possible and lowest term apprentices to save money. don't know how to do anything to code. Honestly dont know how this company even gets to bid on work anymore. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Relatively high wage comparing other companies but that’s all it got. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not enough tools. No materials. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Bully culture, people not working together as the leads don’t care. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
In the middle of no where. Don’t know what to do. Not proper instruction given.

No one able to find you on the job site and lack of proper guidance

Uneducated and untrained management

Constant feelings of improving 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Hard ,due to illiterate coworkers

They literally don’t pay you enough. The salaries are significantly lower than the market rates. Beware if you’re working in the BIM Department, as the manager is very controlling, which is demotivating. The work culture is bad and the system is very hierarchical.  

I enjoyed my short time at OZZ Electric.  Unfortunately due to work shortages in Calgary, I was layed off with 14 other co-workers at the end of June.  Being a part of a company and being recognized for doing a good job in a company makes it enjoyable going to work.  OZZ was a great company to work for, it's unfortunate that a shortage of work created so many lay offs.

Ozz was a good company and they still have some good people.  I however felt like I was constantly held back with the promise of doing more when licensed.  A trap for apprentices having to choose between job security and progression in the trade.
