Would not recommend as a foreman I almost let it ruin the passion I have for the industry I’ll start with the cons. As a foreman expect to be training the greenest of the green weekly while using equipment that is way past its life and constantly breaking mechanics act like weekly maintenance on equipment is inconvenient and a hassle they do not like maintenance guys. 90% of the time you will carry the crew on your back if you are lucky you will have a few skilled leadhands like I did 3in2 years but they will leave once they don’t get the raises entitled to them in the contract they sign or fired over nonsense. you also will not have a life outside of this company as you work 55+ hours a week 6 days a week consistently through out the whole season (say goodbye to Saturday’s)Expectations from ownership is extremely high For the amount of manpower and skill they keep around .The interview you will be promised training and raises take that with a grain of salt as you will be fighting for a raise and most likely not get it unless you are highly skilled and they think you will leave. you will definitely not get any meaningful training. Most supervisors have 0 basic horticulture knowledge making the job harder and will be quick to throw you under the bus when something goes wrong expect that a lot  it will never be good enough with time you have on each site they'll also be real quick to take credit when you do a excellent job.You will have a huge pay cheuqe with more taxes then you’ve ever paid but that’s cause you’ll be working 55+ hours a week 6 days a week. make sure you know what your entitled to (raises, holiday pay)

The pros to working here is you will have a massive cheuqe every Friday if you value money more then a life also probably the safest company in Ontario you will not get away with anything unsafe.most pros are not for foreman as you should avoid this place entirely if you are skilled and experienced you’ll end up hating this industry. But If you are a skilled lead hand type with a full G license or someone green who wants to make the jump to foreman one day  I highly recommend it as you can move up quickly to gain experience. because the turnover rate is extremely high and like no other. The biggest pro is the grounds operation supervisor he will litterly give you the the shirt off his back and belt around his waist I’ve seen it multiple times . he always make sure you are as happy as possible making working here easier if you do take a job here pretend  he’s the owner and cheuqe signer days will be better. if you’ve worked in maintenance or even construction here you know how honest this review is.

I was hired early April 2022, promised and given a job offer letter to start mid April. I didn't hear anything from them for almost a month until I was forced to send the office an email stating that if they didn't give me an actual start date I was going to have to find a new job. I finally got a start date after I sat around for almost a month and passed on other job offers because I thought this was going to be a great place to work. There is a high turn-over rate. You are treated like a number instead of a team member. If you drive, you are expected to drive your own vehicle from site to site. Even out of town with no reimbursement for gas or travel time. They say you can ride in the company vehicle from the yard to the site but most of the vehicles are only 2 seater regular cab trucks yet you are working in a crew of 4-5 people...good luck getting a ride to the site. They will make you jump around from crew to crew without reason and without any contact information for the foremans of each crew. Your schedule doesn't even have a start time on it for each day, Its like a constant guessing game. There is a major lack of communication from the office to the employees. You have to supply your own gloves. They do not tell you that.  When I asked for a pair of gloves on my first day I got laughed at. Good thing I still had some work gloves in my car from a previous job I had. You must keep track of your hours. They will screw up your pays. Lots of false promises. They get mad if you can't do Saturday work.

I have started at Oakridge in June 2018 in the capacity of AP clerk, finishing in November 2020. Over the course of my employment I had 3 pay increases, each exceeding the prior one, one promotion to a new position. Because the company is somewhat small, you get to deal with the entire management structure on a daily basis. Hard working is noticed and evidently recognized, suggestions on work processes are welcome by management. 
It is a good place to wear multiple hats and gain very diverse experience, because the company has a rapidly changing structure and processes. During the time I have worked there the company has made an impressive shift in the level of organization, cooperation and culture. 
Executives maintains good relationships with staff by organizing BBQ's, birthday parties, treats for staff (i.e. ice cream or cheese days) and many other team building perks.
I personally am not related to anyone in the company and have been treated fairly and properly, therefore cannot relate to any issues of favoritism noted by others. Neither me nor my colleagues in accounting were seeking to please management, yet we have maintained good working relationships.

I came to the company with little knowledge about the landscape industry. I was driven and focused on being successful at something. The owners and management staff helped guide me. They put me on a succession plan and set millstones for me to achieve. Over the years as I completed my assignments I was rewarded financially. They stuck to their word and helped pave my career. I went from a general labour to now a foreman leading a crew. This company is not going to BS you. They will tell you what it takes to be successful. Some people want success right away and not put in the time or work. It doesn't work that way. The true leaders have been with the company for at least 4-5 years. I look forward to working with the company for many years. 

Oakridge landscape contractors is an ok place to work. Management is very hard headed and unappreciative and it really shows when u go for a raise. It's a constant teeth pulling game over there to get anything done. Jobs are never quoted properly and they try to blame the people running the job when it's the people quoting it that can't do their job. The yard is a absolute mess never graded properly so be prepared to destroy your car driving in and out of there. The winter u will not be kept busy dont ever do there ridiculous guaranteed hours program ur better off to go on ei it's almost just as much.  My only good thing about this is that the people were great to work with. 

I started working for Oakridge 20 years ago. I was taught and trained from the ground up. They allowed me the opportunity to learn several areas of the landscape industry. The owners guided me and showed me how to be successful. I slowly worked my way up the ladder and became a department manager. After 20 years I was given the opportunity to buy into the business and become an owner. Truly a family atmosphere that cares about their employees and and wants nothing but success for everyone. Sometimes we are passionate but we want everyone to succeed and benefit.  

poor work environment, stressful work load, very long hours with no compensation, no support and poor training, mgmt expectation unrealistic  do not recommend for any position - pay is acceptable but long work hours - company is family run and outsiders have no room for advancement,  Only Operations Manager is supportative - very little departmental support, assistance or direction. Operating system outdated - hard to access information or accurate data..   Unless you are a family member no advancement, respect or patience.

Lot of promises when you get hired, but in reallity never comes true, long hours, pay not that good
travel with your own vehicle to job sites , not paid kms as signed by union agreement  and only get clocked in when team leader gets there, even thou you are there hour before on time ready to start work. 
Travel isn’t covered As to union agreement they signed off on  at gas , wear and tear on your personnel vehicle is expected. 
they hide behind the company being under farm, with I don’t get. Stat holidays aren’t paid, again they say being under farm allows they not to have to pay you. 
So you’re there 14 hours a day, but only get paid for 10 in a good day

This place is bad I've never experience this ever in a company. You have 2 supervisors saying to do a job that they are trying to figure out what to do, get us to start cutting then stop half way telling us that the job we are there to do has been given to another company because Oakridge takes to long to do the job. They will tell you it's not obligated to work weekends then terminate you for saying no to one Saturday lol 😆 do not believe a word they say they under pay you and work you hard. They try to real you in with lies waste of time. They can't even take the time to train you. You go in for training and your training yourself. JUST STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

Oakridge Landscape Contractors feels like a family. Owners care about their employees. Birthdays celebrated and treats provided to office staff. During the summer freezies and water brought to the field staff.

Great job security, with no shortage of work. Lots of variety of work to be done. It is a fast-paced work environment but I like to keep busy. 

Safety is a priority for them. Regular safety talks for field crew, shop, yard and office staff. Covid protocols updated regularly with public guideline changes. I appreciate that they care about my health and wellness and that of its employees.
