Had one of the most frustrating experience with OSFI. They shortlisted me. I got my security done for which I spent close to $1000 in getting police clearance from my home country and in sending my fingerprints. I was told I will be reimbursed upon joining. Everyone was going on smoothly and I had cleared all stages. In the end I was told the position has been put on hold due to hiring freeze. I was put in a pool for consideration at a later stage. When I requested them to increase my validity in the pool and reimburse my expenses for security, they outrightly refused. However there was no freeze as they continue to post job openings. Will urge candidates to be cautious while applying here. 

Though I worked as contractor for a few months, the initial months went well then due to some new permanent hires, my contract was cut short unceremoniously (it was extended just a month before). I have no issues with contract termination but apparently they gave a bad report to the recruitment agency, whereas just before my leaving they had me complete an enormous task successfully and they were very happy with it. In my 22 years career in Canada, I have not come across such an unprofessional leadership.

The workplace culture was very inclusive, and promoted teamwork and collaboration. As a member of the model risk team, we were situated in one corner of the office building but in close proximity to other teams such as credit and operational risk. 
Team members were always willing to talk to me and provide advice and discussion as necessary.
I enjoyed working on the large projects pertaining to the financial industry and it really felt like I was making a huge impact with my work.

Management is incompetent, work is monotonous and below industry standards and culture is toxic.
OSFI needs a full revamp with people who knows risk management and are paid industry salaries versus government bureaucrats who fill their fifdoms with clueless analyst.

I was at OSFI as a consultant. It is a government agency and consequently slow moving and cautious. The people were great but resolved to not being able to impact the course of the business.

Too many politics and management little bit messy. Somebody are really good but A lot of people just want to get along. Training is chaotic, there is no one to guide you and you have to learn to do a lot of things very quickly

I learned to multi-task more efficiently. Cope with tight deadlines, and constant workflow that had to be continuously modified to meet deadlines.

The work itself, unfortunately, did not feel very meaningful or impactful. It seemed to lack depth and failed to fully utilize my skills and potential. The team was very supportive and encouraged me to ask questions.

It used to be a good place to work but the culture has taken a nose dive over the past few years under the current superintendent and self-serving executive team.
