I worked there for about 2 months over the summer and had to quit because of the impact it had on my mental health. It was severely understaffed so I was being over scheduled and then overwhelmed with tasks. When asking for time off, I gave notice weeks in advance, and then given a hard time by management because they chose not to figure the schedule out until days before I needed the time off. 
I had multiple panic attacks at work due to my mental condition (which I’m usually able to manage), and no management talked with me to see how they could accommodate me or help make work less stressful for me to be at. I also asked to switch departments multiple times and despite other employees saying they desperately needed help in those areas, the manager said that department was fine.
I would never work there again, nor would I recommend someone working there. You’ll get treated better somewhere else.
Not to mention the covid rules are not being well followed, there is little sanitizing in the store and social distancing is non existent.

Toxic work environment 
Lots of gossip and harassment just like highschool 
Get taken advantage of alot when they know you're a softie who won't speak up for themself. 
Food is not handled properly, was hard not to tell the Food inspector everytime they came around.
Apparently you're treated like family, yeah right because family treats you like you dont even exsist.
Co workers aren't corrected when you have a complaint of them stealing your job when you go on break. 
Get sent home early everyday in the after season but they hire others with little to no experience with same/higher pay that you had to work up to.
Again, toxic people who have nothing better to do then to gossip about "familia"

Transient staff as this is a tourist destination. 
If you've got what it takes to put your head down and work hard than this is the place to work.
Management expects a lot out of their staff and I would expect nothing less if it were my business too. Work hard and get rewarded !!
Was able to produce my own product line and was given the freedom to run the bakery as if it were my own business. Learned lots about myself.
Met lots of great staff and.......some not so great staff.

worked there as a summer employee,would come in 5 days a week,bussing dishes to kitchen,and washing them.my boss treated me very well,and my co-workers were fun and interesting people to work with.I learned a strong work ethic there,andend really enjoyed the great lunches I got to eat there for free.really,the hardest part of the job was the 8 mile bike ride sometimes in the rain to get to,and from work.

A typical day at the Old Country Market will give you the opportunity to meet customers from various places around the world, while always being given the opportunity to learn new things on the job. The markets large variety of imported items helps to make it an even more inviting and exciting place to work.

The Old Country Market is an incredibly busy shop, mainly due to the fact that it's a huge tourist attraction. Therefore, a typical day in the summer was busy right from the moment that you started and up until your shift ended. My coworkers were all great people and were very knowledgeable, not to mention extremely efficient.

Working here is pretty easy provided you complete tasks at an acceptable pace, and can put on a positive attitude.

Good place to gain experience, as it is unlikely you will be entirely confined to your basic job description.  Everyone helps eachother out and moves around the workplace as needed.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Leaving.   Talked into salary then laid off.  Not nice.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working endless overtime only to be laid off.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful and unnecessary.   Management sucks.

The peers and fellow co-workers were always vey nice and welcoming but the management needs to review their work schedule system. The schedules are always given with little notice and it can be hard to have a personal life outside of work.

Very fun place to work. I especially enjoyed meeting all the tourists from all over the world. Hard work some days to stand at the cash register for 5 to 6 hours.
