I worked there for over a year and it was awful. My own store manager was great, but most of them were disrespectful and rude. The same goes for upper management. Instead of giving any sort of benefits, whenever we went above and beyond sales or got a good review we got a coffee. No commission and no extended health unless you're an optician. Also minimum wage even though according them we are healthcare workers. The training was horrible with no formal days. The system we use to order and fill prescriptions is horrible to use and every time they would update it to make it easier, it would add 3-4 more steps to the already tedious process. We are also the assistants to the optometrists who, most of the time, treat us like garbage. Again, for minimum wage. Safety and mobility issues like not giving us padded mats to stand on even though the floor is concrete and often cold, but then they won't give us good chairs to sit on because they want us standing for the whole 8 hour shift even when no one is in the store. The stools they gave us were broken and unstable. No room for advancement unless you want to be a manager (very limited positions) or an optician (2 years and $20K of schooling).

TL;DR: pay is bad, upper management is bad and doesn't care about employee wellbeing, and no room for advancement. No benefits. Nothing.

DON'T WORK HERE

- no annual/ quarterly check in, raises are rare
-the job description is sales associate but you are also expected to do all optometrist assistant work 
- do not care for employee comfort if it doesn’t match company aesthetic (cold, hard flooring, minimal designs in cold and hot weather causing employee discomfort) 
-even when asked availability, it is ignored and schedule conflicts with availability consistently. 
-most store stylists are helpful and fun to be around
-good for short term job experience; do not stay here longer. they will take advantage of you.  
-no benefit unless you are full time optician or manager. 
- will ask you to meet sales goals with $5 gift 
card rewards 
-patients are consistently rude and demanding
-best part of job is the good food in the areas , and friendly colleagues. 
-upper management does not care about you.
-busy days and short staff causes many missed and unpaid  breaks 


The concept and the look of these stores are great, but it does not reflective on how upper management manages employees. The company is still young, but very unorganized. Not much for advancement and Salary wise. Benefits are none to very limited. It is a laid back environment, but there is no workplace culture. Upper management does not value great employees who have been around from the beginning. It is a good place to begin a career in optometry with no experience, the turnover is high, but you can learn a bit of the optical industry.

Pros:

Great coworkers, free pair of glasses per calendar year, cool company parties, relaxed environment

Cons: 
Subpar management, lack of communication from upper management, disorganized, employees expected to travel to multiple locations and all locations have different procedures, company procedures consistently changing, too many inventory counts, too many display changes, lack of transparency (i.e., never addressed the minimum wage increase, as we were being paid well above minimum wage) 

Don't recommend, unless you'd like to be treated with no respect by uppers

You will think that everyone is your friend and then you open up but them know stuff about you and they will use every little thing you did against you due to jealousy and extreme hate!
They are not a culture for inclusion completely the opposite people of colour…… Beware……also anyone with any underlying mental health issues…… Beware!
People that are going through a transition phase. You would think that they would be there for any type of mental support or help completely the opposite!

Management is a mess with no one taking ownership or offering leadership. Turnover is high. You can be fired if they don't like the way you look and be the subject of gossip. The rest of their staff are some of the most smug, shallow and arrogant people you'll ever meet.  They ignore how much you sell and there is no room to grow. There are no benefits or rewards or perks of any kind. You'll be forced into 6-7 shifts a week and must work holidays. Pay is garbage. DO NOT APPLY!

They literally do not care about their employees. No raises, no reviews, no recognition, nothing. Honestly, I have no idea how this company is still operating. The people they put in upper management are completely incompetent, and that is putting it nicely. Their strategy seems to be ignoring problems and hoping they magically disappear. It is like watching Dumb and Dumber run a business.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Horrible hours, horrible management, and horrible pay.

very very bad management . They hire the lowest quality frame stylists and opticians. Frame stylists look down on opticians .Some of them  will even dispense and adjust glasses when the optician is not around .
General manager favors frame stylists over opticians. 
Terrible frames that don't hold adjustments even for a month. They will get rid of you too easily, too many arrogant people. Even If you complain ,you will get blamed

If you're okay with microaggressions, micro-racism, terrible management styles, poor training systems, backbiting, seclusion, and poor staff welfare, then this is the place for you. I personally would not recommend this workplace to my worst enemy. The environment is toxic, and your mental health will be deeply affected. It's not a place where anyone should have to endure such negativity

In short, avoid Ollie Quinn. From management to product line, unfortunately there isn't anything good say. There is long term plan, staff is completely dysfunctional. Opticians have absolutelty no authority to guide non Optician even in matters of Optics. People that are toxic and imcompetent are kept on staff while people who are an asset are not valued and end up leaving.
