Interview process took 4 months with a case study, presentation and 2 rounds of interview. Health benefits are not that great compared with some companies in the private sector, except for DB pension. Unionized position - lacked flexibility (micro-managing to a certain extent) and the work was so mundane. Coworkers were nice but also jaded, especially those that have been there for a while. Not much drive, and you will probably be paid less than your peers that have been there for a while. No free perks, but that is to be expected in the public sector and I would want them to keep it that way (as a taxpayer now back in the private sector).

Decent salary with better than average benefits. There are many rules and regulations while working as an Ontario employee, so those coming from a hyper-modern private sector position may find it a little regressive.

If you are a younger worker and qualified you will see that your career path is intended for the long term. Do not expect to climb the ladder quickly as internal positions are competed for by the hundreds. 
It is solid and consistent employment however, pay rises are not common unless you move up the ladder. Overtime is a thing of the past.
I would recommend working for Ontario government but don't expect fireworks

The Ontario government can be a very challenging place to work as it is a union environment that that does not work due to nature of office,clients and management dealing with many escalated clint calls then referred back to the enforcement officer.

Collaborative work to enhance the public good: transportation, health, education, infrastructure, and more. Very rewarding, bright hard working colleagues. Positive and inclusive environment.

I was only in a student position I can't say much. I worked for the summer as IT with a good team trying to assist me in learning and growing while also giving me some challenges to solve. Some bringing me outside of my comfort zone in a good way especially since I always knew I would have someone at my back if I needed them.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the work from home days. Unfortunately,  the Government decided to go on the hybrid format and we are required to attend the office 3 days a week.  Being in the office affects my well being.  I got used to working from home, without distractions. 

The environment was relaxed. opportunities for growth were available, money was good,management was approachable. Job was secured.some times environment could get stressful.

Fantastic work environment with great fellow employees and phenomenal management which made for an incredible time. The experience that was involved in being a wildland firefighter is like none other.

It is hard to move ahead in government and salary is capped. However, some interesting files and great colleagues. Also can't be unstable if there are reorganizations within your ministry... 

The job has good pay benefits  and pension. They offer 
Lots of training.  Unionized environment, which proved beneficial.  Employer was respectful, co workers were friendly.  Good place to work
