- start my day by checking all emails and requests, priority and other messages.
- working for 18 years with the Ministry of Education, I'm proud to say i learnt lots of various programmes, (e-approvals, French translation requests online, Accounts Payables, using P-Card to make payments, booking hotels, Correspondence to higher levels like Minister's office, Dy. Minister, Director level, Manager level and assisting all staff in my Branc). I also learnt booking boardrooms for meetings, sending out invites for the meeting, scheduling meetings and monitoring my Manager's calendar for any conflicts. 
- Networking, working as a Team, appreciate one another and be kind and supportive. Meet with priorities, seek help from other co-workers in times sick days and also help other staff to carry out their tasks. 
- Fun loving place to work as a Team and makes me feel at home as a family.
- No discrimination or criticism or condemnation whatsoever.
- FIling both electronically as well as hard copies.
- Scheduling meetings with 30 attendees at the Ministry level and external dignitaries. Organizing hotel rooms, boardrooms, materials for meetings, meals for the invitees, name tags and making external feel that they are well taken cared of.
- Monitoring attendance for sick/vacation days of staff under my Team/preparing track sheet for the Manager at the end of every month, to confirm their attendance through Ministry WIN attendance.


A typical day at work involved me getting to work early, checking ll my E-mails, and starting the day. This involved either creating test suites for applications that were to be included in the next sprint, or working to develop a software solution to defects that had not been seen before. I would also more likely than not attend a meeting where we detailed our progress for the week, discussed future goals, or met with clients to demo our software. Management and co-workers were very friendly, and were also very knowledgeable, coming from many various career backgrounds. The hardest part of my job was optimizing my work efforts in order to complete all the projects I was assigned by different people. The most enjoyable part of my job was working hard to come up with solutions to problems that had not been seen before, especially when there was a tight deadline.

Worked as an independent Contractor at the ministry.  Overall good work life balance, paid good however the management (at least those I worked with) were very poor.  The management provided lip service to the ideal of being a public servant when in reality they had no real consideration to the merits of project and that tax payers dollars must be used wisely and not squandered.  Unfortunately this really jaded my experience.  However I would give the ministry a second chance as it is a massive organization and I have heard from others it works differently depending where you are.  My colleagues were mostly very good however we did have one bad apple which management didn't identify until much of his damage had already been done.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Flexible working hours and able to work from home at times.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The high volume of workload the employee is expected to handle in a timely manner.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Typically my day starts at 7:00 am and ends at 3:30 pm. However as situation arise the day can go into the evening quite late at times.

It is an Independent work environment

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No support. No backup. No encouragement. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very poor. Abusive and discriminatory 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long hours travelling and underpaid

- Workplace culture was positive, great coworkers; knowledgeable, always supportive
- Micro managed, leadership and approach was not genuine
- No emphasis on self-care, numbers were more important

I would love to work for the Ontario Ministry of Education, but the winters are cold in Ontario compared to those in BC. I enjoyed every moment of my teaching practicum in the province. I had amazing Associate Teachers that helped guide my future practice as a teacher.

Decent work-life balance as the pace of work is very slow. Management is hit or miss. Some are competent and invested in their staff, others are just there to cash their paycheque and enjoy the pension once retirement hits.

Great people at all levels of the company - joining the companyis like joining a family and everyone is supportive of each other and has a great time together Interesting projects. A great culture - coming to work is fun and there are always nights out and something for everyone

A very productive team-based environment.  Many opportunities for collaborative work on a number of projects and initiatives while still being approachable.  An overall great learning environment that allows much room to grow.
