Ontario Truck Driving School

I was an unsuccessful candidate for 2 weeks for in-truck instructing. I was attacked and examined since day 1 by Miss Homer Simpson "top trainer", who is constantly on the phone or doing something else while with the student.  I got no clear training guides, the school itself doesn't know what they teaching and that reflects on the road test passing rate in London, what is 0. They go for AZ road tests to smaller towns like Simcoe and Clinton, where passing rate is 1 or 2 out of 4 students... I am a Licensed G Class Instructor and it's not hard to tell that the school's instructors are not too familiar with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, what again reflects on the students passing rate.  Every day at least 5 hours outside in a heavily dusty yard, what is terrible summer time most likely is horrible winter time. Lots of ego and feud going on between instructors, some of them are decent people, most of them not! I was discriminated even by dress code, sleeveless t-shirt only allowed to female instructor and office personnel.  The owner's last name and single permanent licence plate on the back of his SUV speaks for itself about the school standards...

I had very positive feedback about my work ethic and abilities throughout my time working here despite insufficeint training and being short staffed. Then I was suddenly let go. No warning signs, no explanation. They simply just terminated me without warning since it was still my probationary period. This made absolutely no sense since it seemed they were desperate for workers and I was being given very positive feedback from management. Perhaps the company is having financial issues. While I was working here it seemed that there was great difficulty in organizing student registrations. Avoid applying for a job here if you want long term employment.

Employees are mostly under-educated.
If your a hard working individual who enjoys teaching students, this is not the place for you.
They cater to individuals who are on CPP, or Comp. This allows for bad competition for students between full and part timers.
Classes are boring, too long, and students (Instructors) frequently fall asleep.
Instructors are outdated.
Revolving door for Instructors, speaks volumes.

Don't take the job if you are expecting a set amount of hours.  The hours depend entirely if there are students, no students no work. Good for retirees.

First of all good luck on full time,they make all sorts of promises but never pan out,just a bunch of so called instructor who have massive egos. They're equipment is pure junk and disgustingly dirty and are never repaired and if the bill is expensive it's not repaired at all.

The staff are great to work with and most students want to learn. But saying that you must do what the students want when they want to do it. If the student doesnt show up you dont get payed. Was promised 40 plus hrs and now get 15hrs a week.

Thankful to Service Canada for facilitating the Second Careers program, and making it possible for me to take advantage of this opportunity. I learned the basics of heavy equipment operation, maintenance and safety procedures.

Ontario Truck Driving School has taught me a number of things. Like for Air Brakes , load securement , log books and Regulations.. It has helped give me a New Positive out  look for the Trucking Industry.

I would have stayed there if they didn't fire my administrator in the middle of a pandemic, putting all that worked there in danger. Management was absent
