Operation Come Home

Don’t bother working here. Low pay, ungrateful clients and youth. Managers are dating each other, no overtime pay, lack of movement and managers don’t listen to you even if you have more experience or education. Staff only stay because they fine a few clients that make them feel useful. Worked here a year and didn’t learn much. Also toxic housing staff. 

Also your position becomes co-mingled however you receive no extra pay or praise.

OCH is a great place to learn and grow as a professional, may not be the ideal place for someone with years of experience in the field, though they value their staff members and really promote self care for their staff. 
Expect to be a Jack/Jill of all trades, you may work in one department but will be enlisted to make breakfast for the morning drop in youth or work the drop in if understaffed.

Overall I would recommend OCH to anyone that is interested in making change.

Homelessness is a very difficult subject for anyone, but it is most difficult for those who are involved in it and are in need of programming such as Operation Come home. By helping those in need and providing them with things as simple and a place to stay and an opportunity to network as well as relax and reach your basic needs this program is providing everything that is can to those who are unquestionable are in need

Staff are all viewed as dispensable and are not adequately compensated for the amount of work that is expected. 

The actual work is very rewarding and can honestly be an enjoyable time, however the lack of support from leadership can make people feel undervalued & discouraged.

Advancement opportunities are pretty much non-existent unless someone in a leadership role leaves. 
 

I have worked here for 3 weeks. 
Seen corruption and malpractice. 
Management has no idea what they are doing neither does the staff. A twisted conglomerate of criminals working together just collecting there cheques at the end of the day. Not a career no advancement unless you ignore the clear faults.

Great management and friendly, supportive staff.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It's not stressful at all, they are very understanding and flexible.

A great place to make a difference! 
Working with people who care about what they are doing and who they are doing it for.
Lots of challenges to meet, not enough hands.....

Never a dull moment. Always new challenges and fun colleagues. Management super nice. Working in drop-in is very rewarding and so important in this community.

Amazing place to work. People are not so bad :)  can be a fast paced environment, but it is mostly relaxed and steady. Winter is the quietest. Overall 👌🏽

I volunteered with the farm that partnered with OSH in Blackburn Hamlet. Working side by side with the homeless youth gives a great perspective and teaches you not to take anything for granted.
