They are very rigid about the workday.  Work from home is not allowed unless you live outside the city. The strictness in time depends on the manager.  Some managers will let you adjust your time accordingly, and some will count every minute.  There is no consistency.

I learned a lot of skills and knowledge.  I appreciate the people overall, but the company does not stick to its culture.  They emphasize culture a lot, but they don't really invest resources to build on the workforce or the culture.  It's fun to celebrate Christmas, birthdays, and some other events, but they can't pay you according to the inflation.  Other than that, there is a lot of imbalance on how they handle employee matters.  Some get away with a lot of things, and others can't have any lenience (asking them to come in for 10 minutes to work even though they have to leave for an appointment).

There are one-on-ones with the manager or your direct supervisor, but nothing really comes out of it.  It's basically an hour where you talk about your month, but no real performance review or even steps to develop you further.  One of the things that really created a bad experience is when we were told that if we didn't like how things are ran, we are replaceable and not to let the door hit us on our way out.  Which I guess is true for a lot of companies, but one of their values is "value relationships."  When you talk to others, they would always talk about the values in terms of employees (co-workers) rather than management.  When you get consumed by this, you often think that the employer embodies these characteristics when it doesn't.  Their strategic moves don't reflect their organizational values.  I think it's a disconnect too in that they say they value their participants, but they actually are deliverables promised to the government. So, when employment consultants follow up with you, it really means they want to meet their goals.  The monthly staff meeting is a time when we talk about projects, and then our ED just talks a lot about their personal life.

When it comes to professional development, I found that it wasn't about your career but it's organization specific.  It's skills that are not transferrable. Your managers don't really know these specific pieces because a lot of times, they are "called" to the position rather than have the qualifications for it.  No project management, etc., and that really hinders you when it comes to seeking better positions.  If you do work for them, that's something that you would have to craft for yourself.

They also do a lot of "pranks" which are borderline disrespectful and unprofessional at times.  When you do get offended, it becomes "you're not fit for this culture."  So there's a lot of toxicity there, and you can't speak up.  If you say something, you're not fitting it.  If you don't say something, they continue to cross boundaries.

The hardest part of the job is dealing with clients on the daily and then dealing with managers who are on you about goals, etc.

The most enjoyable part is really working with great co-workers.  They do hire a lot of kind people.  The people are always the one planning events, etc.  It's fun to hang out with them, share life, etc.

i was  nervous about going there, didnt know what to expect or if i was good enough to go there. They made me feel welcomed and made learning about myself fun. I met alot of good facilitators and friends there. After finishing my training, they were always there to talk to and to help me with my next step to reach my goal in finding a job. 

been here for a few months now and i find it a good place to help people with resumes, finding work, with training, and with giving good feed back for references.

Overall the best place I've worked, everyone is very friendly and helpful. I've learned that working with people is not easy it takes alot of patience. The hardest part of my job was staying calm on intake day.
