Organika Health Products

Beware of what they are selling you.  There is a disconnect between ownership and upper management and the workers of the company.  The heart and soul of Organika is it's people.  So many of them willingly work long hours and go above and beyond but are given next to little credit for their dedication and loyalty.  They openly say that loyalty does not equal more pay.  The company is now run by the former owner's two sons and their shift in business operations in noticeable.  There entire premise is based around a set of core values and a mission/vision statement.  People do not have an issue with this cause it makes for a great rally cry.  The issue is the way these values are being bludgeoned into people via an almost cult like process.  Instead of letting these value materialize organically, you are told to read books, then participate in classes and do exercises like you are back in school.  I understand the logic but if you have to impose this onto people, then your philosophy is flawed.  Also, it should be okay that not everyone can and will not encompass all of these values but there really isn't a middle ground.  They will find ways to justify this behavior yet fail to look in the mirror at the root cause of the problem.  For this reason, the staff at Organika work in fear.  They fear for their jobs because if they don't have all these values they will be fired.  They put up false faces because if you exhibit poor body language you will be fired. Staff will talk amongst themselves but when asked for the truth they will always lie for fear of saying the wrong thing.  

The start is always good.  They will provide you with some autonomy but after about a year, they will begin to pull back.  You will find yourself putting in longer hours and doing more for less. Managers have little to no work life balance despite that being one of their mantras.  The biggest work issue is time.  You get little to no time to accomplish your work yet they expect things done in an immediate fashion.  If you tell them this, they tell you that you need to prioritize.  Problem is, when everything is a priority, what do you choose?  You are left to figure out most of this on your own.  The people will come together and work hard for each other to support each other but the company does not care.  Occasionally they will give you some free events to make it looks like they care but in the end, it is still a business.  The issue is don't sell it like you care because you really don't.  Imagine seeing about 30 to 40 people leave or quit the company in about a 2 year span.  There are about 100 employees so you are looking at a turnover rate of 30 to 40%.  These aren't just entry level workers but managers as well.

The workers and the people make this company great.  if you can handle the diatribe that ownership and upper management are spewing, then proceed with caution.  Be prepared to give everything and be ground to nothing only to be tossed aside.  You will be faulted for things that you aren't even responsible for.  Expect to do a TON of manual work as the current systems are archaic and need spreadsheets to bridge the gap between them.

It has been an amazing experience at Organika so far. 

To be honest with you, work life balance is how you make of it.There is rarely anyone after 5 PM  (except the ones who has a later start time) because everyone leaves on time. No one works on the weekends or late in the evening. If you can't meet a deadline, own up to it and communicate it to the team. Of course, the earlier the better. Really, the onus is on me or you to communicate that you need an extension because we understand our workload best. Communication is key. No one is a mind reader. I find that management has always been open and flexible to accommodate and provide support. I've never had an issue when I requested for an extension. We can always shuffle things around or ask for more support. If management isn't aware, they can't help.  I truly appreciate this about Organika because I always feel supported. 

Every company has a mission, vision and a set of core values because they define the company and its culture. Because these are important, Organika is very passionate about them; however, they are never forced upon anyone.I personally like the core values. They set the standards among all employees. When you work with other high performers, who share the same core values and great work ethics, it makes my job and your job so much easier!

Organika recognizes and rewards people who go above and beyond which makes sense. Why would any company reward people who are low performers? I have witnessed many people get promoted since I started here. This is a fast paced environment and it may not be for everyone. Low performers won't survive here and will not be able to keep up. I like that the company is very dynamic and there are opportunities to learn, grow and develop. 

Management always offer to receive feedback from their employees which is refreshing. They are firm believers of continuous improvement. Even though if things may be fine, they will still make things even better. With anything, it takes time to implement and improve.

- Executives run the company like a cult.
- Will lecture you to better yourself but will take all the credits to themselves.
- Typical family business where the 2nd gen were given the silver spoon and have no clue how to run a business.
- Will let you join the lucky draw for top employee of the year - doesn't matter how much you contributed, gotta play a lotto game to win the prize.

I liked my job and responsibilities, and they do carry great products. You also get great deal on products and the company encourages healthy lifestyle. 

The team that I worked with was excellent until management was let go. Upper management is family, as it is a family owned company. 
Not to mention the low pay even after you've shown potential. Lots of interns and foreign worked get hired here. I guess this way they can pay them as low as possible and get the most work out of them. Google says Organika makes about $25,000,000 in revenue. So how come employees get paid minimum wage to middle income salaries?

Overall Organika is a great company with a bright future. The company's core values are great BUT management needs to be patient and cannot expect change to happen in a short period of time. The way they handle employee's futures definitely needs to be addressed because I do not feel they have the best interest of their employees in mind when they make decisions, it is more about what can you do for the company. 

That is not surprising considering the high turnover rate. Until management changes their mindset, this will be a continuing trend.

Working for Organika was an awesome experience! 
They have 2 brothers who are the owners and they treat everyone as their equal which is pretty nice! 
Unfortunately the organization is filled with silos and every department is out for themselves and business doesn’t run well when that happens. 
They were getting better the longer I was there. 

Organika is a fast pace environment, employee are treated as a ROBOT. 
Management team only care about squeezing everything out of you! Absolutely the worst company i ever work for ... hands down!!!

Organika is run by visionaries who want to run great company, but are too excited to see any plan through.  Lots of promises, but they'll drop you when the next shiny thing comes along.  

Company is family run but has pressures from Board.
Messy and chaotic.
Fast paced 
High turnover across all departments
Good opportunity to come in and clean up business practices
Management can be condescending at times. 
Bad benefits/ Perks - no sick days.

Minimum work-life balance. Management expectations are too high with minimum resources available.

Great people to work with. Everyone is collaborative and helpful.

Growing company, has a lot of potential.
