I started as a loader did everything I was asked and expected to do I never missed a single day had a great attitude and even showed up when sick I had perfect attendance and everyone in the department I worked in liked me was supposedly boosting morale in the shipping department only to get let go a week before my probation period ended which made no sense because during my time there I saw people who missed consecutive days and still made probation and they hired to many people to work in the department I was in which led to the little work that came out everyday to be mostly done by lunch and management asking people with higher seniority if they want to go home at lunch the pay lets be honest isn’t bad but it’s not amazing either and again the economy is garbage rt now the consumer purchase power is not what it used to be most trucks leaving that dc aren’t even more than 15 skids which is barely half a truck and then they expect the department as a whole to reach a target of 0% but that’s impossible when there isn’t enough work and too many people to do the work and by too many people I mean 19 people working in shipping but the work can as of this point in time facilitate maybe 7 people or so to reach the target expectations they want don’t waste your time especially considering the probation is 4 months long and the company is being affected hard by tariffs and the economy 

Orgill Canada, previously Chalifour at the start of my employment, began as a very promising place to work. Seeming too good to be true with a strong and supportive union, various available positions with a wide range of shifts and very appealing benefits package, things really began their decline once the business changed hands in late 2016. With questionable management, blatantly unqualified supervisory staff and constant warring between management and the union, this is a workplace that does not foster a supportive environment. Morale is consistently low with the constant fear of layoffs and a lack of both trust and communication tarnishing the experience.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The only good thing is their competitive wages.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You will be treated as less than human by management due to the high demand of production value throughout the warehouse.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They frown upon people with new ideas or personal opinions. God forbid anybody thinks any other way but their way.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I clock in and CANNOT wait to clock out after my 8-10 hours.

Everyone works hard and are friendly. I was in the repack division. For anyone who is considering working in the repack area please be prepared that there is 105 line count average. This includes labelling, picking, packing, staging, disposal of cardboard and garbage. Grab an order, pick product and dump it in the totes. Do anything you have to, to get the line average within six weeks are you will be fired. Also, and I cannot stress this enough, NEVER be late coming to work or coming back from breaks. 

Dont bother. Not worth the time or effort. Managers are god awful and the people who work there are hit or miss. The company itself needs multiple upgrades such as new scanners, better packaging  material (cardboard boxes, tape, wrap, etc) and forklifts are so out dated it reeks of rotten eggs every week its bad. Pay is decent but thats about it.

Was very busy, with great leadership,,,learned new skills, worked with staff, or independently, the management were always great to lead and support.  
After getting to know the staff they were an amazing bunch of people.
my stay was only temp but worth every minute. 
The only problem it ended to early....

Pushed hard for line averages 
No backing from union
Promotions of the most toxic supervisors 
Head of HR is a nightmare 
"Old timers" get away with "murder" while others are expected to pick up the slack without complaint
Zero accountability from management 

Orgill is a decent place to work at overall. Sometimes it's really busy and there is a lot of mandatory overtime for some departments. Other times it is slow and people are offered to voluntarily go home early.

Great work environment with wonderful people that work well together to achieve daily goals. Teamwork and communication is highly encouraged. Great hours and good benefits. Unionized.

I thoroughly enjoyed working at Orgill Canada (previously Chalifour Canada) as Merchandise Manager. It was a very dynamic role and I value the skills and experience I gained while employed there.
