Job/ Life Balance - this depends on how you manage it. 

Salary/ Benefits - The pay is decent for starting out if you do not have much experience. No, benefits. 

 Job Security/ Advancement - I was moved around several times within years of working for this company. But reasons for being moved was also because of my knowledge in certain departments that was helpful to the company, and sometimes the company had to restructure. It can be frustrating, but if you keep any open mind that you get to experience different job positions, and learn new skills its more like an opportunity. It helped me decide what I wanted to do for a living.. 

Management - My experience with management was frustrating, because we always had new management so things always changed and starting things over again and over again can be annoying. When they should be focusing on where the last management was and improving it, if needed. Also, some of the management had pour leadership skills which makes it hard to balance a great management team. So explains why new management was a reoccurring thing. Instead of looking at where the issue is and fixing it. 

Environment - This depends on if you were someone who was at the company to do your job or get caught up in the gossip toxic environment. I noticed many say it was an uncomfortable setting for them which I can relate if certain management made them feel that way or allowed other employees to speak unprofessionally to others. That goes back to no leadership skills....

Original Foods gave me great experience to learn a lot of new skills, and discover what I wanted for a future career. I learned a lot from many that worked for this company and I am grateful I had that chance. I wish nothing but the best for this company!

I was hired quickly and had the opportunity to start the same day. The only requirement was work boots. 

The focus of a place like this is productivity. This means down time, even if a line is broken is extremely frowned upon. 

If your machine is broken, then don't stand there, go make boxes or sweep the floor, or wipe down tables. If you're over 30 you will find you are run off your feet and will be more sore than many of the 20 somethings that like to go, go, go.

This is one of the largest employers in the town of Dunnville. Remember that rumours will run rampant. If you are upset about something and utter "I'm not coming in tomorrow" that will travel to everyone and the bosses will be surprised you come in the next day.

The plant and room managers also run and thrive off second hand knowledge. You'll most likely find out the managers didn't like something you did from other employees. This is because managers will complain about staff members to other staff members rather than keeping issues confidential.

The pay is above minimum wage, there were no benefits as of early 2022.

If you go in and chime to your co-workers about your perception of policies, procedures, and your concept of how the place should be run, you will make no friends. That would be true of almost all work places.

As others have said if you keep to yourself, keep all your opinions to yourself, and need a place to get steady work, and steady pay this place will be good.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There is nothing I can say that is good about this company.  They don't care about your health and well being. If you are not part of the " in crowd " you don't matter. The pay is a joke. It's like it's being run by a bunch of children. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They company has water buckets throughout the plant when it rains, and extention cords sitting in puddles of water. If the fire drill is going off, they tell you to ignore it and go back to work. There is also no communication.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's a very diverse culture, the environment does pose a lot of health risks. They continually make people feel like they don't matter because they are just production crew.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Getting yelled at, standing around because the machines as usual don't work. Breaks are all over the place, first break is usually about an hour after you start. Lunch can be at 10:30 in the morning. You could end up working in a freezer all day..a doctors note won't even keep you out of there.

Standing during all work periods.  The place can be messy and smelly.    All efforts are made to keep the place clean, but sometimes it just feels dirty.  There can be a lot of horrible smells at times, depending on products running.  Some rooms can be very hot and others are refrigerated.  While all effort is made to ensure worker safety, there are risks as with most factory positions.  

There is a high staff turnover, both in labourers and management.  Pay is just above minimum wage for general labourers, and IMO does not adequately compensate for the duties that are performed.  No medical benefits for labourers.

The general staff can be very friendly, but it as in most work places, there can be inter staff issues.  Supervisors are open to resolving any issues quickly.

There is a hot weather policy in place.  And provisions are made for people with certain health conditions that can be affected by working in certain rooms.

I would highly suggest that anyone that values their career and true work ethic avoid this place at all costs. I can assure you management is lying when they say they will train you and give you proper support to succeed. This place fires half of their team only to rehire two months later. 

Typical day and overall culture is filled with toxic interactions with individuals that feel equally undervalued for their time and effort. 

The hardest part of the job was dealing with upper management treating you like you are hardly human. The most enjoyable parts were working with the people that treated you well.

What I learned from working here: this company should be under investigation for human right’s violations and should probably be investigated by law enforcement as well.

I have worked here for 5 years.  The workers are good people who welcome newcomers. If you do your work you will do fine. The wages are minimum, not enough to live on and there are no raises. You can train to operate machinery or be a lead hand but the raise is minimal.
 The summers are very hot. There is easy access to cold water and if you overheat they are very good at letting you cool off in a cold room.  On heat alert days they provide gatorade. Air conditioning was just put in the hottest rooms but it hasn't made a difference in the temperature. Overtime shifts are sometimes treated to fresh delivered pizza.
 Complaints are dealt with fairly and quickly. Management changes constantly and job titles vary so much it is hard to know who is in charge. The owner is rarely seen thankfully because he is not a nice person. 

You take a leave of absence and you lose your position and management treats you like garbage because you took a leave they also don’t handle situations good enough without turning it against you or making you seem like your in the wrong management constantly changes management can yell at you in front of the owner while he just stands there and listens and nods his head at you like there right and your wrong overall just a bad expirence I get some people say a job is a job but honestly for the pay rate and being treated garbage it just isn’t worth it after a while a person gets sick of it after a while of putting up with it 

This company has one of the worst management teams I’ve ever worked with. The turnover rate is extremely high because they fire people at the drop of a hat, often without reason. Employees are overworked and undervalued, and management clearly doesn’t care about their well-being. They keep the place understaffed, making it even harder for those who stay. To make things worse, the owner eats on the floor, setting a strange and unprofessional atmosphere. Avoid this place unless you enjoy job insecurity and constant stress.

It is a Company that is direly needed n the depressed town of Dunnville.  Unfortunately, given the high unemployment, the Company is fully aware that you can be replaced tomorrow and treat you as such.  For example, at the end of my brief work experience at Canada Bread I was dismissed and the Plant Manager who was my immediate supervisor, was given the position.  I am sure that he was approached and told what he would be doing the next day should he wish to stay on as an employee.

While working for Original Foods I learned how to do the paperwork. I learned about how to make and package all the products. At Original Foods, everyday you work in a different room, so you get more experience. The management team is very nice, always there for you when you need them. The co-workers I worked for were very fun people to work with. The hardest part of the job was in the beginning, when they had me working long days 5 days a week. The most enjoyable part of the job was the people I got to work with.
