Orion plastics has a very high turnover because it burns through new employees.  

They do boast onsite training and have various experts for particular tasks.  However those experts are good at managing their tasks and are not great at training or encouraging others.  

The lion’s share of training falls on the veterans to train and guide the new recruits.  Unfortunately the veterans are embattled and teach bad habits or just offer the absolute bare minimum without furthering any help.  Although there are a handful of extremely helpful Operators and packers who will go above and beyond to offer help and advice.  But often they are stressed because more responsibilities are also heaped upon them.

The starting wage is competitive to most starting salaries,  they are generous when it comes to Christmas bonuses.  However pay raises are few and often years before it’s given.  

Finally, one could boast plenty of overtime, but it depends on where you are in the company.  If you are new to the company, show your competent, then you’ll be asked or scheduled for plenty of overtime.  Usually due staff shortages.  If you make more than the starting wage, or are outspoken about the work environment, you may see minimum overtime if any.  It is a very keep your head down and just do the work kind of environment.  It does offer a consistent job security, even when the pandemic was at its worst, Orion stayed operational and adapted.  

Orion Plastics can be a job for life or can be one of the most difficult companies to work for.

The actual job is not especially difficult, what's difficult is the constantly expanding list of tasks to be completed in an ever shrinking volume of time. Pay scale is adequate, but could be higher - the real reason Orion sees such high burnout and employee turnaround has more to do with being chronically understaffed. When a problem arises, management's first question is "who is to blame?" Often the problem analysis ends there. Training is haphazard and word of mouth; new hires are expected to learn 100% of the skills and processes needed while meeting frequently expanding production targets, and this system of tribal knowledge coupled with high turnover means a lot of institutional knowledge has simply been lost. Some of this knowledge is retained by the management team, but spending most of their time in the locked and air-conditioned office does not make them accessible and furthermore, company culture discourages employees from asking for help - if you ask for assistance, management takes this as a sign that you aren't able to do your job.

At Orion, the reward for hard work is more hard work. One quickly learns to keep one's head down and avoid drawing attention, lest a manager decide to vent their frustrations in your direction.

The upper management walk around like they are gods and us peasants are forbidden to even look at them, they walk around and behave like not only do they own the business but all the workers as well.  The middle management is poorly qualified to put on their own pants in the morning than to manage the production floor.  There is no follow through on anything that they say. It seems like all they do is have meetings to make themselves feel important but there is not actual change that happens on the floor.

Feel heavy in the beginning of work starting a day with so much busy work,its getting easy depends on who wel be your buddy on the line,management doesnt care about you if you lost any parts of your body they gonna denied your claim to their insurance, hardest part of the job is when its too much busy the lunch time wel be 2om to 3pm you still sweat yourselves by doing all stuffs in fast line, and its unfair to others that works with easy lines., i neved enjoye the job in this company

worst supervision ever. never want to resolve and conflict . always in there office playing on the internet. never around for help. management is always complaining about something. also they always try and get work out of you for free.like shift change you have to stay late until other shift is done there meeting without pay, they use that 44hr rule to get you to come in on weekends for straight pay. minimum standards is how they run there business. before you work here read your rights and minimum labor laws.

Orion plactics is a small company but has it’s fair share of issues.   Maintenance team is always looking to cut corners and finding cheap was to fix problems but will spend money if needed.  

Worked here for over 3 months then had to leave because of kids school. 
Good friendly environment, good benefits, overtime available. Employee appreciation program by management. Noticed lots of opportunities for growth. Nice company to work. Free coffee provided. Safety lunches. Coveralls provided.

I was with Orion Plastics for a little over 2 years, left to work in the oil field after a few  months I lost my job! I wish I had stayed and  learned how to operate the lines better $$. I was asked multiple times if I wanna to learn how to operate the lines....  Lots of overtime, summer BBQ, safety boots, etc.
Overall great company to work for!
