A typical day at Orlick Industries would be driving into work, punching in the time card and grabbing a cup of coffee in the lunchroom before the shift actually started. When time came around for people to start work we would walk over to the job board indicating to which area we would be working that day. Once we found out where we were assigned, we would make our way over to that area to begin our job assignments. We would have three breaks; two ten minute breaks and a thirty minute break. At the end of the day we would walk to the locker rooms, put away our work gear and get ready to head home. Then line up at the punch out clock and prepare for our departure.
I learned what it was like to work in a factory like setting and work alongside good people. The Management at Orlick Industries was good for the company in regards to the fact the supervisors were able to get the numbers required from the customers from the employees. Although it proved very difficult at times because the numbers required were what felt impossible.The culture at Orlick Industries in my own opinion was excellent compared to other work settings I have seen before. People got along well with others and it didn't matter what the colour of their skin was or what creed they believed in. The hardest part about working at Orlick Industries was trying to reach the numbers required by the customers. They put pressure on the managers to therefore put pressure on the employees. The most enjoyable part about the job was the people you worked alongside. Everyone got along with everyone, didn't matter about colour, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, gender identity or age.

I worked at Orlick as a summer student employee, and when I began as a trim press operator, I honestly thought it would be easy. During my two week training process my trainer helped me along greatly and taught me all the tips and tricks. Once I was by myself, it was tough adjusting to the fast paced machines. It took some getting used to, but adapting to the speed of the machine and keeping up with the task eventually gets easy. Throughout my employment at Orlick, I got to know a lot of amazing people who made the job worth having. Everyone from my shift supervisor, to the die cast operators and floor supervisors, and even my fellow trim press operators accepted me and made me enjoy working here. The rate of pay for a summer employee is just what I needed to help me save for school and it was worth working this physical job. This career is not for everyone, and I have gained a lot of respect for the people who work there year round. I am definitely considering returning to this place for another part time job in the future.

I have worked at Orlick for almost 6yrs and my experience has been nothing but great. I started off as a machine operator and slowly made my way up to lead the Health and Safety initiatives across multiple Orlick plants. This was made possible by the management team’s ability to identify, provide an opportunity to, and nurture talent that they believe have the ability to make a positive difference in the performance of the business.

The health/medical benefits are really good and above what some of the comparably sized automotive suppliers provide in the GTA area, and the same can be said about salary as well.

The overall working environment is very jolly and in my experience, majority of employees (from a machine operator to the members of management team) provide really good feedbacks/suggestions that improve the working environment and make Orlick a really good company to work for.

Every morning, I would visit each plant to check up on projects, then go to the desk for follow-ups, check the calendar and make a mental and physical note of what to do that day. 

Learned how to be a better engineer, project manager, and coordinator. Each project allowed me to improve on to the next. 

Great workplace culture with friendly banter at all levels.

No micromanagement and a high degree of trust with project completion and timelines. Management and supervisor will look out for your best interest for career growth and learning. They will always be there to help you when you need it and to guide you when there is a roadblock.

Overall I enjoyed my time at Orlick, it was the best place to start my career. 



I can only speak to the off-floor side of things since that is where I worked primarily. The people at Orlick are very friendly and many have been there for years, some even decades.  I was in IT so I had exposure to everyone at the company in some way. A typical day would include responding to tickets that come in, patch management, documentation, and project work. Sometimes only handful of tickets would come in, sometimes there would be enough work for 4 people. Obviously there is no typical day in IT but typically the discretion to triage tickets is up to you. You will learn a lot and have more responsibility than other similar jobs. Work/life balance is extremely good; I think I did overtime at a rate of once per year. Good team, good opportunity to learn, good benefits. I had a good time during my 3+ years at Orlick.

my day at Orlick Industries was consist of being a cnc operator drilling holes into oil pans or general labour loading oil pans into a wash plant. Furthermore I have learned that I like the factory work and the shifts(days,afternoons). the hardest part of the job was the management there was very little organization one manger would tell u to do something one way then another lead hand would tell you that you are doing it wrong. Lastly the most enjoyable part was the people that work there they knew how to work hard and still enjoy to make work more enjoyable an example of this would be giving praise for the things you did right and taking the time to show you what u did wrong for the future. In conclusion that is my review on Orlick Industries

-benefits are horrible you pay first then they decide if they will pay for it. 
-pension starts after 2 years 
-no organization and management can’t schedule a shift past 9am
-everything is last minute 
-outdated machines but the mentality is worse 
-breaks not lid for
-vacation pay only paid once per year and they make you sign form to acknowledge you will be only eligible for vacation pay if you agree you won’t be paid 
-the wages are less then competitive and what you start at you will be making 1 year from now. 
-poor communication, no support unless something needs to be done that minute, then the stress level is so high no one accomplished anything
-poor HR. Very company orientated.


Some of the management staff and co-workers you will get along with. But for the most part everyone talks about everyone at some point. Your fellow co-workers (on your shift) will get along with you for the most part. The ones on the other shift will blame your shift for every little or big thing. Managers are another story. Very little of the time they will have your back if something happens (customer complaints, internal complaints). The only problem I've really had with management is when I had a part come to me that looked pretty bad and I showed it to my supervisor and he said it was fine. We got a complaint a month or so later for it and the tag had my number on it, so I was to blame. But when I said I showed it to my supervisor, let's just say he naturally denied any involvement.

Don’t listen to the responses from the employer. The management is a bunch jerks who smoke 3 packs a day. They have so many miserable people working here and everyone feels like they have nothing else and trapped at this place. The machines are old and break down constantly which is annoying because of the high demand. So many safety rules broken. One time they had to do maintenance on the big furnace in the back and the company couldn’t afford to stop production so they pumped up the diecast machines furnace temperatures to feed ingots but the power was so high it would cause an arc to the ladle and everyone just shrugged it off. That’s just one example. Stay away from this place 

I’ve been with Orlick for almost four years. I started out my career as a co-op student. Since then I’ve obtained my red seal, become a team-lead and worked with some really good coworkers.  

Throughout the years that has been more of an emphasis on training. We’ve received external robotics training, spill response and college programs (Dependant on your own trade related interests). As well as a lot of internal training programs. 

Your experience at Orlick is really based on your drive. If you want a steady career as a millwright, it’s there. If you want to advance further, there are also opportunities for that. It’s really what you make it at Orlick.
