Oshawa Kicks Soccer Club

Have to be available from early morning to late evenings and fully committed depending on the time of the year, but a regular week is Monday to Friday 9am-3pm while being available nights and weekends to support programming.  Split shifts are a regular requirement 

I learned a great deal about the operations and structure within a not for profit sporting club environment and sports / event  management

Management are extremely experienced and educated in the world of sports management, but they live and die by an accountability and "blame" culture,  and should look at adding someone with leadership qualities in the future to lead and inspire.


The hardest part of the job is dealing with the political  environment, along with the lack of consistent process and routine due to ever shifting assignments, workload and changing priorities, with lack of training, support and resources. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is being part of the sporting community and working towards giving kids a place to play and keep fit in a positive and safe environment.

A typical day at work consisted of setting up and running 3 practice sessions for under 4year old children. I was able to get to know child behaviour and how to properly work with kids. The environment was fun-filled and always consisted of smiles on children, parent and staff members faces. The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to teach children how to play soccer and seeing them enjoy the sport.

This company offered a comfortable work environment. Allowing me to learn new skills and take on new challenges. My management staff and co-workers were friendly, knowledgeable and customer oriented. Registration day is very busy however, I really enjoyed helping parents and their children prepare for an exciting year of soccer.

I volunteered with the kicks over a winter and periodically throughout many other years. I always found it pleasant and loved the work environment. My sister worked there for quite a few years. She loved her job. Got paid well. And always had a pleasant experience with her co-workers, although many were her fellow teammates. OKSC is an amazing place to work.

I started my career with the Oshawa Kicks Soccer Club following an internship I completed with them through the Durham College Sport business management course. 

I gained a lot of valuable experience with this company, and the people are very nice. There is no room for advancement and the salary is low as this is a non-profit.

Being a coach is a privilege! Also, I have the benefit of working with many of my friends who also play the game, so there is always something to look forward to when I go to the field whether it is my players or coworkers.

good job to have as a youngster to earn some money while being outside and staying active. I have always been very educated on the rules of soccer and was glad that I had the chance to enforce thee rules and I was very good at it because of all of my knowledge about the sport.

i would referee youth soccer in the oshawa and surrounding area. i would be in charge of making sure the laws of the game were followed and that parents were getting along on the sidelines. Safety was always first.

At oshawa kicks its always fun. they put together a fun day at the end of the year for the kids with a BBQ. Throughout soccer season its up to you to make the best of it
