Our Lady Queen of Peace Ranch

Imagine driving down a winding hill that opens up to a beautiful vallley with a 14 acre lake, surrounded by trees,stables for 30 horses, 40 tee pees, each painted with a unique animal and 300 happy laughing children enjoing a holiday, that due to the nature of thier lives would not otherwise have this experience if not for the ranch!!! No matter how much I gave in a day, I took home more....
The most difficult part of my job was saying goodbye every Friday to the children I had met that week, only to gear up for 250 new and returning kids coming to stay for 5 days on each Sunday.

The most vivid memory I will always hold close to my heart is being fortunate enough be part of the ranch's annual Christmas party! 1500 children and parents on 55 school buses that resembled a long orange catapiller. Each child received a new coat, xmas gift and a belly full of chili, hot dogs,cookies and santa!!! This was their Christmas. It rocked my world!!!!

Overall the team of camp councillors and/or kitchen staff was constantly amazing and great to work with and always kept in touch out of work. Very minimal outcomes of conflict between myself and fellow co workers, but definitely a block between management and staff. There was always a certain aura of not enough time on there schedules to ever answer questions or help myself or coworkers when needed or when they had the opportunity to resolve issues quicker and more efficiently.

I really liked working for them and in a camp setting. I had to make daily schedules for the kids, time management, help them with problems, role modeling. Supervision the kids during the day ages between 6-16. doing a lot of activities and being involved through out the day. 
had to be fit and motivated with the children's needs and wants.

I loved working at the camp. It was a new experience to me and I really enjoyed it. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and ended up being something i genuinely enjoyed.
The hardest part of the job would have been when some kids wouldn't listen and cooperate and/or throw tantrums.
A typical day at work would be different activities all day. We went kayaking, canoeing, swimming, we did arts and crafts, we played lots of games, etc.

everyone you meet and work with will ultimately become your friend throughout the summer, lots of delicious free food, and fun activities to do throughout the week.

But! don't ask for help if you need it, because you won't get it... management always seems to never care and won't make time out off their own schedules to help solve problems or to check in with you when need be.

The Ranch is all about the kids. Everything we do, be it labour or food service, is all to give disadvantaged youth a summer they will never forget. The employees of the Ranch shine with positivity and everyone there is involved in each other's lives. I have never had such an amazing work experience.

I volunteered for Our Lady queen of Peace every Christmas to give less fortunate children and their families a Christmas celebration. We mainly interacted with the children through games and activities, giving out gifts, serving them food, and generally making sure that they have a good time. The volunteer work was just a way to give back during Christmas. It has taught me how to interact with children and supervise

Great work environment, outdoors working with other like minded people. Working with children from low income families and catering to those with disabilities. The ranch had horses, a lake, and many other activities to do during the week with the kids.

It was a fine place to work as a student during the summer. However the very long days in 25+ degree heat with littlw breaks can really get to you. As well the management doesnt feel the most professional and a little too decentralized to have somewhere to report to.

Its a fun and wonderful place to work.  lots of positive people. we do family style dinners. training staff in proper cooking and reheating. I also work with a budget and order system
