 I worked at this firm and cannot recommend it to anyone seeking a healthy work environment.

**The Reality:**
After leaving the company and experiencing what a proper work environment should be like, I felt it was important to share my experience after careful consideration.

The workplace culture is toxic. Management creates an atmosphere of fear, and this isn't just talk—multiple employees have been fired or resigned during my time there.

**Major Issues:**
- Excessive workload with unrealistic expectations and deadlines
- Blame culture where colleagues and management deflect responsibility for their mistakes onto others
- Management makes decisions based heavily on appeasing certain individuals rather than objective assessment
- High turnover due to firings and resignations, creating additional stress on remaining staff
- Constant job insecurity and stress

**Bottom Line:**
Having now experienced a healthier work environment elsewhere, the contrast is striking. The anxiety and instability at this firm simply isn't normal or acceptable. If you value your well-being and career stability, I'd strongly suggest looking elsewhere. There are plenty of  firms that treat their employees with respect and provide reasonable working conditions—I know this now from firsthand experience.

I worked here long enough to see how deeply toxic the environment is. The pay is low, there’s zero appreciation, and management is more focused on office politics than actual work. Some employees form cliques and regularly bully others in team chats and meetings, and nothing is ever done about it. HR is aware of this behaviour and still chooses to ignore it.

I was handling the workload of almost three departments without any raise or recognition, all while being micromanaged to an absurd level — even a one-minute coffee break was a problem.

Favouritism drives everything. Certain employees get extra hours or special treatment simply because they run personal errands or bring food for the manager. Those same employees openly talk down to others and act like they’re untouchable, and sadly, they are.

If you’re an immigrant or relying on employer support for PR or work permit extensions, please be extremely careful. The company delays documents, keeps you in the dark, and only files things at the last minute. Even after getting approvals, job security is not guaranteed. Their treatment of international workers is insensitive and unfair.

Leadership lacks basic skills but expects perfection from you. There is no work-life balance, no support, and no respect. If you’re considering working here, understand that your survival depends on being your manager’s “yes-person” rather than your actual performance.

- A typical day at work -
I start my day with administrative jobs, handling bookings, phone calls, answering emails, etc. By mid day I begin billing processes for previous day's jobs. I check in with mechanics to make sure they are on time with their tasks and inform customers if more time or work is needed on units.


- Management -
Management has consistently supported me in my role, and is always available when I need additional help.


- Workplace culture -
Can be difficult at times, and you will need thick skin as mechanics are abrasive at their bests and outright rude at their worsts. However despite this the team has each other's backs and will step up to help out when needed. 


- Hardest part of the job -
Your work day is over officially after 8 hours, but the work tends to pile up on bad days and to avoid falling behind often times a few hours of overtime are needed. 


- Most enjoyable part of the job -
I am learning so much about an industry that I had never even given a second thought to before starting here. I have seen so much movement upwards in the company and truly believe PFT believes in all of their staff and wants to see them succeed. I've seen admin staff be given apprenticeship opportunities and most branch managers started out as warehouse associates. This company is one that anyone can find a lifelong career in so long as they hold a good attitude and strong motivation to work.

Company is unorganized. Employees are not fairly compensated nor is management knowledgeable or equipped to offer any guidance or judgement of the work being done. Company frequently over-commits the mechanic team and doesn’t even hire adequate employees (some don’t even have a drivers license). Recurring issues with tech’s underperforming and causing significant damage / losses. Management does not offer opportunities for growth and they under value younger employees who are eager to move upward in the industry. Often techs are crippled by the lack of opportunity and doing the same monotonous jobs day in and day out. Contract agreements are often unmet due to management having no idea what the team can handle / the work required. 
Numerous techs have wasted decades with the company, and yet are being compensated for less than entry-level positions within other organizations. 
The upper management comes from the east for their visits and to overlook the shop and I doubt they’re aware of the way management struggles to even meet basic hygienic criteria prior to these visits. Techs are blamed for any shortcomings or disorganization within the business. 
Be sure to track your own hours and OT privately as payroll discrepancies are not uncommon. Be sure to advocate for yourself or prepare to be stuck within the hamster-wheel that is parts for trucks. 

I recently embarked on a new professional journey, and I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunities ahead! From the moment I started, I felt welcomed by the team, and the onboarding process has been nothing short of seamless. It’s clear that the company values its employees and is committed to fostering an environment where everyone can thrive.

The role itself is challenging and rewarding, offering a perfect balance of personal growth and professional development. I’m grateful for the support and guidance I’ve received from my colleagues and leadership. Their willingness to share their knowledge and experience has already made me feel like a valued member of the team.

What I’m most excited about is the company's strong sense of community and collaboration. It’s rare to find a workplace where the culture is as positive, inclusive, and motivating as it is here. I truly feel that this is a place where I can grow, contribute, and make an impact.

If you’re considering a new role, I highly recommend exploring opportunities at this company. It’s a place where hard work, innovation, and a passion for what you do are genuinely appreciated.

Honestly, the overall experience was not ideal. I was with the company for over a year, but the culture wasn't for me. It was micromanaging a lot and really stressed.

There was a noticeable presence of office politics, and it often felt like rules and expectations were applied inconsistently—it was a real 'different strokes for different folks' scenario.

My biggest concern was the management support. While some colleagues seemed to have little support, others who worked hard didn't receive the same backing. Furthermore, the environment lacked accountability, and issues sometimes resulted in people getting 'thrown under the bus,' even when they weren't at fault.

Bottom line: The culture isn't particularly supportive of its employees.

Advice to Management
Foster a consistent, transparent environment and ensure fair treatment and support for all staff.

Would I recommend it? Nah. If you're looking for a solid work-life balance and a reliable, supportive team environment, this might not be your spot.

I started here during high school through the RAP program. From day one I was given instructions by my fellow technicians and management and continue to be actively engaged in the process of being a better, more professional technician. We work on a variety of truck/trailer combinations and I’ve never stopped advancing my education in the trade. With comprehensive education programs, in-house training, and active investment opportunities. Parts For Trucks has made sure I advance through my career at a consistent pace. I highly recommend working here to both the novice level apprentice and the experienced journeyman. Parts for trucks takes good care of their technicians and will facilitate them in bettering their careers as tradespeople.

I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone, to be honest. The company has a good story, but over the past couple of years a lot of experienced people have left. Since then, most of the new hires haven’t really been up to par, except for a few.

Even when there’s no real pressure, upper management still tends to put unnecessary pressure on employees. They expect people to keep working even when they’re sick and not feeling well, which isn’t right.

Honestly, it really comes down to who your manager is. Some managers just don’t get it, even after you’ve explained work or safety issues a bunch of times. On the other hand, there are some good managers who actually understand and support their employees.

Support from management is non existent. Employees are not seen as valuable members especially those in support functions. The executive team lacks any kind of diversity in both appearance and thought. They seem to favor and respect others who look like them. The management team does not appreciate or look kindly on those who do not think and act like them. The executive teams lacks the ability to empathize with humans and it is very apparent. While there is management of work and output, there is a very serious lack of leadership to individuals and teams. There is no collaboration between people and people only care about themselves and people are always pushing tasks to others because "it's not their job". To the management people are disposable and replaceable and are treated as such. 

Working at Parts for Trucks is a rewarding and energizing experience. The company has a clear vision and well-defined goals, which creates strong alignment across teams and a shared sense of purpose. It’s clear where we’re headed, and leadership does a great job communicating the bigger picture.

The culture is collaborative and supportive—people genuinely want to help one another succeed. As the company grows through acquisitions and modernization, there’s a strong focus on continuous improvement. It’s exciting to see real investment in employee development, IT systems, and using data to improve decision-making and reduce manual work.

Change is part of the journey, but it’s approached with teamwork, transparency, and a willingness to adapt. It’s a great place to grow your skills and be part of something meaningful.
