PEOPLES JEWELERS

During my employment at People's Jewelers I have gained strong interpersonal skills, as the job requires me to deal with multiple different people during every shift. Although many people might visit the store, it is not a fast paced job and is fairly laid back. Therefore, a typical day at work might include adjusting props in the display cabinets, cleaning the area, or preparing packages to be sent out to try and stay busy while waiting for any customers. As much as I enjoy dealing with the public, doing so, is also one of the most difficult parts of the job; I believe this is also part of the retail work culture. I've learned that at times, it may be impossible to please everybody and that it may not be of any fault of your own. One just has to understand that everyone has different personalities and although they aren't all going to jive with your own personality, you always have to stay polite and serve the customer as well as possible despite this fact. As i indicated before, I really enjoy the social aspects of my job and a large part of this comes from the great people I work with.


Overall, my experience at Peoples Jewellers was not entirely bad. The work itself was manageable, and I gained some valuable experience. However, the biggest issue has been the way management operates. Management frequently takes over the floor in a way that feels overly controlling. 
Another major concern is the impact on employees’ personal lives.  Sometimes there is pressure to pick up additional shifts, and if you are unable to cover extra shifts, your regular hours may be reduced. Scheduling decisions seem to be based more on management’s preferences than on actual performance or reliability. 

In addition, there has been little to no opportunity for salary increases. No matter how hard you work or how long you stay, pay does not seem to improve. Performance does not appear to be a factor in compensation decisions.

While the job itself had some positives, the management style and lack of fair scheduling and pay growth make it difficult to recommend as a stable, supportive workplace.

Work your butt off senior sales reps take your customers just a place I would NOT go back to. However I did learn a lot. The hardest part were when you would have a return customer the person who had been there for years had taken the customer away from that sales rep and the manager supported this sales reps tactics.....and she still works for the company. Culture sell sell sell and no recognition and if you didn't' reach your goal you were in the office.

Lovely place to work, meet new people everyday and they share their stories of what each piece of jewelry means to them. Mall hours are good so you still feel like you have a life outside of work.
This job does have daily targets of how much you are supposed to sell. If you are low on sales they either make you do training or simply say "you can do it!" 

You do have to be a team player. Currently my team is amazing and we make work fun! We all respect each other and nobody steals sales. :)

They educate you and teach you everything about jewelery.
Management and Distinct manager's, you work close with, you also get to meet head office member's.

The hardest part of the job is getting customer's to sign up for a people's credit card.
Most enjoyable part is hearing your guest stories how they propose, hearing the story why they want to get a special gift for their loved one.

Customer service skills are a must to work with jewerly. A typical day is service over sales, the little extras really make a different. My learning curve is amazing and ongoing. I have enjoyed every minute of my time there. The management is great as well as my co-workers. The hardest part of my job is seeing guests in tears because their jewerly has broken. The best part is being apart of so many different peoples lives for the special moments, and giving the little extra to make guests smile.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There were No positives to working there they pay minimum wage and their commission is .025 so u Weill always be struggling 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Juvenile behaviour poor ethics 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
U are never giv n performance reviews because u are never getting a raise 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Online selling in store on an iPad for the in store customers

Not for the easy going employee! Very competitive as wages do depend on sales. Must be a quick learner to provide accurate sales. Must be patient to work with difficult guests. Must pass background check. Must be able to multi task effectively and accurately. Best part of the job is the people, management, and the ability to grow within the company. Company provides learning resources for product, which contains very interesting information!

Peoples Jewellers a good company to work for. I have started out as a jewellery consultant and now I am managing one of the top 20 stores in the country. The company promotes within and value diversity and growth. I have learnt a lot of things about customer service and time management from this organization. However, as a big company, it does not reward its employee highly. This is a big disconnect between the stores and the policymakers.

On going training.
Management needed a overhaul at the time of my employment and was the decission for my resignation.
All aspects of the job were enjoyable and exciting.
