Loved working at PERI. Worked both in the yard and office. First off, the company has a set plan in place to continue to be the leader in the concrete industry for formwork supply (which is great, they're thinking ahead and for the future). No matter where you work you are always going to find your bad apples amongst co-workers and management. It's safe to say 95% of the people that work here are extremely friendly, have good company intentions and are collaborative.

A typical day work varies depending on if you work in the yard or in the office and in what department. Yard Workers and Material Handlers will be working outside all year round. Yard Workers functions are not tasking on the body but rather just repetitive so it's important to build relationships with your co-workers so that you're able to enjoy your day, be better at your job, work more efficiently and get past the repetitive nature.

I had the opportunity to work as a Yard Labourer and Material Handler, and in Management. It's no different than any other workplace, if you're a hard worker, you show up every day, are punctual, have a good attitude, and don't start any un necessary problems with other co-workers, there's no reason why your management won't like you and your co-workers won't like you. What you put into this job, is exactly what you will get out of this job.

Workplace culture is amazing. There are a lot of great people that work here. Everybody, for the most part wants to come to work, do a good job, and go home and come back the following days and repeat it. Than there are those who complain about everything and don't actually contribute much (again, what you put into this job is what you get out of it). As long as you're friendly and a good worker you will most likely fit into this work culture with ease.

Hardest part of the job as a Yard Worker: Remembering how to service different equipment if you typically don't service more than one kind. 

Hardest part of the job as a Material Handler: Loading trucks (if you're not experienced or good at it), counting very high multiple quantities of certain items when picking an order. These can all be avoided and corrected over repetition (the more you do it, the better you get at it). This department is always extremely supportive and encouraging and teaches one another about order picking and loading trucks.

Hardest part of the job as Management: Dealing with different personalities day in and day out depending on how big your team is. Motivating your team members, collaborating with internal departments. These are all able to be corrected if you develop an interest in building and maintaining relationships with all these people. If you choose to be negative and don't focus your energy on being a responsible and good supervisor or coordinator than you will struggle with this role. You need to show interest in your workers and show dedication and commitment to your role and your department.

The most enjoyable part of working at PERI: Building great working relationships with everyone in the yard, Yard Supervisors are extremely supportive of their workers and departments. Company rewards its employees in the summer time with 2-3 BBQs in the parking lot, as well as a summer picnic party.

My experience is great, I am a huge fan of the company. Management often nitpick little things in order to hound you and stay on top of you. They have preference and if you are not one of them you will not be chosen for any promotion. As a bilingual, the manager can be very rude about french peoples. Some Co-workers have no diploma, they just learn from the company and they didn't care if you have a diploma much higher then others. You will still be doing the same job and others will be promoted. Beside all that, The people that worked for Peri, where mostly very friendly and reasonable with the work life balance. If the manager like you, you are in good hand, if not..start looking for another job...you will lose.
If I had the chance to prove my acknowledge, thin will be different. 90% of management are great to work with. I do recommend anyone to join Peri. Beside I had a lot of fun.

Working for PERI Canada since 2019 and can honestly say that they have absolutely no onboarding plan for their new hires in design, sales, logistics, or operations. They hire people with a lot of promises for which they do not deliver. the plan is improvised during the first 6 months. No resources or teams are dedicated to training new people. The existing people are expected to teach the new resources everything in their little spare time they can afford. The new resources are supposed to learn 1 year worth of material and tools within an unreasonable time through osmosis with no concise plan from management. 

The upper management is heavy and has absolutely no idea of the reality of the market and the job workload expected of their resources nor of the modern tools used by their competition in business development.

Hard outdoor labour in any weather even for forklift drivers. 
Dirty, heavy and noisy work cleaning concrete off panels and parts.
No living wage.
No training.
Narrsistic manager. 
Promotions based on favoritism. 
Hundreds of heavy parts to count and sort everyday, each with different packing systems to remember.  
Order pickers were always pressured to finish and load trucks. 
Same day shipping policy with constant last minute order changes and cancellations was frustrating. 
Workers always quit for a more respectful workplace and better paying job.
Company saw fulltime workers as cheap expendable labour along with 9 temps they hire everyday. 
Management staff had to do yard work because everyone kept quitting.
No future there just fake company culture. 
Coworkers were nice and there was free coffee. 


 






Peri Bolton is all about favouritism. The managers pick and choose who they keep in their favorite.  It’s like a high school. They hire people that are unprofessional. smokers go out every hour and also come in late and nobody does anything about it . If you voice your opinion about anything you are scolded! They have no performance improvement plans in place . You can come into work an hour or too late and you will not be frowned open because you are the favorite . The people they hire have no  skills . There is no privacy nor is it quiet. Customer service reps are in relations with customers and  with warehouse guys. It’s a total circus. There is no room for any promotions . Employees are yelled at by managers in front of their colleagues!

The management was a pleasant experience as they were easy to get along with and this made work every day more enjoyable. All employees worked in teams of 2-3. This allowed for productive work and made the overall atmosphere in the workplace social and easy going. The owner of the plant would often walk around to see how employees were and make sure they kept hydrated on the hotter summer days. Overall it was definitely a positive work experience.

-I learned to work in a fast paced work environment since this position requires day to day updates and feedback from the site.

-Constant communication with lead engineer, sale representative and site person required.

-Very quiet working environment

-Setting up priority and finishing the task on time is one of the challenges in this position

In the various departments there's room to grow as long as you show interest and you're ready to learn, salary is good but can be better, management is very involved and when they claim to have 'an open door policy' they really do, although some locations like the Calgary yard has a "bossy and arrogant" management which I will recommend the Toronto HQ tocheckmate, because they keep loosing very talented team members

Most of the employees work in extremely unbearable winter and summer conditions. It is not a company that you cannot grow at all and the salary remain the same. The bosses are very arrogant, disrespectful  and rude. They don’t appreciate your hard work unless you’re in management. It a workplace of employment where you get harassed daily by management.

Management is so far off.  Supervisors are poorly trained and always try and earn brownie points. Very toxic environment. The work itself is okay. In order to fit in you have to lower yourself to another level. Would not recommend this place to anyone. There's very little to no room for advancement and skimpy pay increases. 10 cents per year approximately.
