This is probably the worst job I've ever had. They expect too much from their employees in the short time base for "probation". 

There is little to no time for training as they expect you to keep pace with even the senior members of the team. If you cannot you are either moved to a different location, fired, or verbally abused by the boss. The have impossible expectations to meet when it comes to work or learning how to do your job.

The management can barely manage their own feelings let alone a team. The boss of the company will literally come down and throw temper tantrums out on the floor worse than a 5 year old....people have been fired for having any sort of backbone to the toxic environment. 

The senior members of the team are literally just verbal punching bags for the management. This mentality is then brought down to the rest of the team so everyone suffers. Its an unhealthy work environment and culture as it also lowers morale to an all time low.

Machines go down more often than not resulting in extremely long hours. If you have a social life outside of work you may as well kiss that goodbye as your doing at least 6pm shifts every day. 

The wage is good and the benefits too but they don't pay nearly enough for the emotional beating you'll get every day. You'll leave the job either anxious that your actions weren't enough that day or in a panic because you want to show your performance but can't because no one has enough time to train you. 

The shifts are extremely long and there is 0 positive reinforcement for putting in these long hours. Companies like this make me wonder how they keep employees.

The boss of the company is his own worst enemy. Yelling, verbally abusing and throwing tantrums like he does just makes working hostile. Every time the management comes out on the floor theirs either warnings over the headsets or there's an extreme level of animosity throughout the crew. 

The people of PFG are fantastic and in my experience I got along great with the entire team. That being said there is 0 communication as to what the plan is that day.....as its literally made up on the fly, the supervisors will agree to extra work even though you're already swamped because they need the extra money and lastly its tough to get a full crew of people as most of them phone in because of the negativity of the atmosphere. 

The nature of the work at PFG can be technically complicated, depending on which department you are in (tempering, shipping, IG, lamming). Training is often neglected, which makes it difficult to fulfill the duties of the job. There is a steep learning curve in the first couple of weeks; you are forced to learn as you go, without real instruction. Some departments require a great level of awareness and attention to detail.

There is a positive atmosphere at PFG; co-workers are friendly and have a good camaraderie with each other. However, the owners can be loud and abrasive, which causes tension when they walk into the production area. It is not uncommon for them to give the supervisors a dressing down for some mistake. This tension then trickles down to the workers and ruins the good mood. 

PFG runs three consecutive shifts, in the day, afternoon, and night. This is for most departments. Supervisors on the day shift are under alot of pressure to increase numbers, which can lead to stressful days at times. The day shifts are well organised, but the afternoon and night shifts are not. Management has trouble finding workers for the day shifts, for various reasons.

The work itself is not physically hard, for the most part. There is some danger when working with the glass or chemicals, but PPE is provided, as is safety training. There can be some down time, depending on whether or not the machines break down. Some departments require close co-ordination between all the team members, but communication can be a challenge due to clashing personalitys. These issues might be sorted out with better management.

Overall, it is a challenging but rewarding work environment.

A typical day at work at PFG Glass is often making your PFG house  presentable and professional and swept clean of any broken glass around me. I work on a glass line that supplies Sealed glass units in one of the cleanest glass companies in Canada, I was told beginning in 2009 at this company. Glass breaks every day and all the time!!

A day at PFG involves planning ahead before tackling your tasks as you are challenged to work around others for half of your day. I have learned that a quick pace, a plan in mind and hard work above whats expected of you, gets you respected and appreciated with management and your co workers.

I have cared much for my Employers and have seen to be cared for by them as they have shown me a respect and care over the years. They are not easy men to please, having expectations that are very high and that keeps their business thriving. I am grateful for what I have learned, with discipline and hard work in the challenge to meet them at their level, knowing I am fulfilling what they expect of me and even over the top in the quality of my work giving me personal satisfaction. 

I have grown to love working as a team and have respected my co-workers emmensly. So I desire to keep us at peace with one another while we flex to take on tasks and share the load in a fare way that gets more than whats expected done. I have taken the lead often when things are being neglected and managed to keep us together enjoying each other as a team.

Seeing co-workers leave or be let go after some years is the hardest part of my job.

The thing I enjoy most in my job, is the personal satisfaction of accomplishing a perfect tidy clean IG glass line, that makes me want my boss to stroll on through happy.

A typical day of work, I have a plan in place in my mind starting the day, of what tasks need to be completed that are priority and what details need to be taken care of along with those priority tasks. 

How to work effectively with one another in yielding or serving considering their pressures and expectations from management. Learning how to work with one another to complete our tasks as a team. I have enjoyed training in safety and maintenance care.

Management has been so good and have built relationship over the years with them as they have displayed a kindness and trust to me. 

Co workers have worked well together and I have truly enjoyed working with one another, on even the most challenging days finding we are working better as a team the more time go's on.

Physically the job I do can be very challenging and it makes you appreciate the fact that no gym membership could top my job. Heavy glass piles are picked up daily and thrown in bins and continual work on your feet while moving freely about the company and making sure all is tidy and safe for everyone. 

Freely given the trust to work on you own. To make a plan and take on your tasks, gives you feel and motivation to clean as you would your own home. Often the direction of management coming in is very appreciated and needed at often times as well.

I have been with PFG Glass for some time now and have had a very positive experience. The company genuinely invests in its staff and provides opportunities to learn new skills take on additional responsibilities and grow professionally.

The team is approachable and committed to improving the work environment. Over the past year I have seen investments in equipment technology training and development.  But I agree the current staff dont allow lazy people with bad attitudes or anybody who affects the group of us who are committed or to a stable job stay because they dont care like teh rest of us.  

Like any manufacturing environment the work can be demanding at times but hard work is recognized and there are opportunities for advancement for those who are willing to put in the effort. The team atmosphere is strong and many staff members have built good careers here.

I would recommend PFG Glass to anyone looking for stable employment, opportunities for growth, and the chance to be part of a company that continues to evolve and improve.

Since this was my first full time job out of high school I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, but after training and learning some helpful tips from my coworkers I’ve grown to really like it here! Management is really relaxed and everyone is very friendly! safety is a main focus  in the workplace and we’re provided with all necessary ppe and training we need to do our jobs safely and efficiently. I never feel overwhelmed by the workload even on heavier days, we work as a team to get everything done and it’s the kind of job where you don’t have to worry about work after work. PFG is a business that actually cares about it’s employees, they show this in many ways but most notably by creating a safe and stress free  workplace. Overall PFG is a lovely place to work and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s interested without a doubt. 

I tried this company for a crane truck job. The interview itself was fine and I felt like they had an open door policy, but I was wrong. The door was closed right after being hired. I was given a truck (new truck old crane no remote) Driving into warehouses and dropping glass crates into specified areas. The work it's self wasn't too bad.
What was bad was the fellow that hired me one of the sons has a real bad attitude. Demeans employees if he feels your not up his standards. I never put up with that sort of attitude I left and never went back. Like so many places the jobs are great it's the management that screws things up and people don't want to stay. Just being in a management position does not give you some kind superiority making you better than everyone else.Your there to make things run smoothly not rag on people. If not you will just drive people away and be continually be looking for people to work for you. 

I highly recommended this company to anyone looking for a stable job. The Management is very supportive, owners and managers are working too to help employees at their work. HR is very considerate and accommodating at your needs. I enjoy working here coz my coworkers helping each other and the job is always done because of awesome teamwork. Bosses are understandable when it comes to dr. appointments. One more thing I like about this job is that it requires some heavy lifting which keeps me physically fit and doesn’t need to go gym. When you have mistakes, management talk to you personally and professionally and it motivates you to improve your work and develop your personal growth and build more confidence to do your job right.

Great place to work as the people are friendly, supportive, and patient.  I have watched this company grow from many mistakes with very little communication or leadership to a strong sense of teamwork with great communication and a professional leadership providing consistent goals and processes that allow all to be set up for success.  They have finally added positions that give great detail and support and are always re-investing in new equipment and better training.  More recently I was a part of their ambition to become OSSE certified of which we achieved over 2 years ago making us one of the safest manufactures in all of BC.

PFG knows there glass, and they do very well in their business. They pay fairly, the work is fast paced, challenging and can be rewarding. The people who work there are nice, friendly and helpful, there should be a good team atmosphere there with all of the corporate values and commitments built in. Unfortunately, the owners that run the business have short tempers and disrespectful ways of communicating their issues to employees, which leads to fearful and uncomfortable employees who leave after being yelled at or disrespected one too many times. There's a reason a good paying company has a revolving door of employees, and the reason here is the owners.
