Though I can't speak for everyone's experience, I can say that my experience with Pushor Mitchell was very disappointing, to say in the least.  I had expected more from the largest firm in Kelowna, but the department I worked in was incredibly disorganized with no sense of direction or purpose, and no desire to improve, and both HR and management did not make any real attempts to acknowledge or address it.  The position I took was intended to be a good career move, but actually put me further back in my career and was a complete waste of my time and energy.

In addition, the salary they offer is insultingly low and no where near competitive in the Kelowna market by far. I would recommend that if you're considering a job with Pushor Mitchell, to go literally anywhere else. I wish I had never taken a position there in the first place.

While the pay was good, the expectations were not. The teams are very clique based and you will not make friends easily. Made to work unpaid overtime, logging hours you don't get paid for, constantly changing systems.  A huge clusterf. Oh, and good luck getting HR on board if you have any issues or need support. They were not understanding with any life issues whatsoever. I got let go by email, to boot, and was not given any cause, right before my 3 months. No parking, huge wait list for PAID parking. I would seriously recommend staying away from this firm unless you want to be a mindless robot sitting in a cubicle. 

I was excited to take on a position at PM and  I was told there was room for advancement. With that in mind I expected PM to be a good career move but in reality I would say it has set me back.  The salary is incredibly low and there is no room for advancement unless you're one of the favorites. The lawyers are all really nice but it's very cliquey with the assistants and HR is the least amount of help possible. I expected for from such a large firm in Kelowna. Other than that, this job has left me feeling unappreciated, underpaid and setback in terms of career goals. 

Working at such a large firm was a little intimidating at first but everyone on my team was very welcoming and helpful! I really love that they are involved in the community and plan out different fundraisers every year. I joined the committee since I find it fun to get involved in planning those kinds of things.
It was fun to have little perks around the office - like Timbits on Fridays or draws for little prizes, plus staff appreciation and birthday gifts!


I didn't know what to expect when I began working at Pushor Mitchell LLP, but I certainly didn't expect it to be like high school. The assistants and paralegals are clicky and won't bother giving you the time of day. There was rarely any room for advancement and it was very much a hierarchy system. Some lawyers were nice but never seemed to value anything you had to say. I would never recommend Pushor Mitchell to anyone if they are looking for a career in the legal field. 

The company is fine place to work, as long as you have a leader that’s knowledgeable in that area, and willing to help. Unfortunately, in my experience, this was not the case. When the manager of a department always needs to ask its employees how to rectify an issue, it makes you wonder how they got their position. 

Division between staff and lawyers.
Certain partners talk down to staff and then wonder why they can't keep an assistant.
HR doesn't interact with the staff or understand their capabilities.
They like to hire those without experience and pay less.
Working at this firm has made me lose skills.  
It's not an accurate depiction of working at a firm.  Lost in the 70's!


Some of the people that have been there a long time are very judgemental and have no compassion.  People will talk about you behind your back and the communication is non existent.  HR says they are there to help but when it comes down to it they don’t care what’s going on in you life and they don’t try to help. 

Co-workers are wonderful as are most of the lawyers. Many fun team-building activities. Salary was not great. HR was an absolute joke. Would not recommend working here.

Great place to work. There are people with varying experience levels wiling to assist and develop with you. Large firm allows for more extras and benefits.
