You must enjoy where you work and believe in the company.
Creating and environment that instills enjoyment of reading, read-aloud listening, and a place that feels different then the class. An atmosphere of relaxation.
Management varies and when the management isn't present it creates a
variety of variables throughout the school and the energy within the school.
The most difficult part of the job is trying to fit in an 8 hour day job to 6 hours.
The best part of the job are all of the children your interactions with them. Watching them grow as readers and sharing different items of interest on the smart board and reading articles and  books that will tweak their curiosity.

This was my dream job.  I worked with staff, students and parents.
It was amazing to go to work everyday and not feeling like you were going to work.  It was exciting, always different.  The hardest part of my day was not being to offer a student the services they needed at that moment.  The best part of my day was knowing I was helping students reach positive goals in their lives.
My co-workers were a great team, we all helped one another when needed.

Well-behaved students and friendly principals

Travelling during snow days.  Admin and staff are supportive

You get a great opportunity to get your feet wet in the education sector.  I personally love my job, but there is little to no appreciation for hard workers, unless you are a true EA. There could be more training for student monitors, so you could utilize us as resources and not be short on your shifts as often.  All in all, for the right people PVNCCDSB is a great board to work for.

I have had a rewarding career with PVNC school board. Each  Principal that I have taught for has been a positive leader to collaborate with and learn from.  They value teachers who strive to be life long learners.

Biggest drawback is lack of merit applied to hiring practices for positions of responsibility. Instead, hiring is done to maintain status quo to prevent staff changeover. HPE does not have a position of importance among Senior Admin and School Admin which filters down to lack of respect and support in schools.

The interview process was one of the best I have had. The employees are very kind and understanding. I work as supply EA and the system they use to distribute available work is genius (all online and you receive an automated phone call or text). I thoroughly enjoy working for the catholic school board.

Great job but think it’s not meant to be a real job. Pin money not enough to actually live in as still will need a husband to make the real dough. Meant to be temp until land full contract. Pay says 48,000 at A1 on pay scale but never have broached the 30 grand threshold after 20 years of this no matter how much you work!

I thoroughly enjoyed working for PVNCCDSB and would highly recommend it. I belonged to CUPE while employed there. Wages, job postings and benefits where all according to union contracts.

Was exactly what I expected. Everyone was extremely nice and outgoing. Very easy to work alongside them. Was provided with the resources required to do my job, and overall have no complaints about working here.
