Very hard work. Opps manager I have found is good at talking. Most likely talked his way into the position. Will hang u out to dry. Was suspended for a truck running out of diesel. Found out after that they knew for years that the diesel gauge didn't work. Guess it's not needed??? I was told it's part of the pre-trip to open up the fuel tank and look to make sure there is fuel. So I guess at every stop light u may need to jump out n make sure u have air in your air tanks. You start at 6 am. And are expected to do a full pre-trip count and strap your truck and sometimes tarp and leave the yard by 630 to be on site for 7am. Just the air breaks pre-trip takes 20 minutes. Every truck I been in, in the short period of time I have worked there has had multiple items wrong with them. And there's not much rush getting them fixed. Guess it's hard to down the whole fleet when all this company cares about is there customers. Rather risk the employees license and come up with reasons why it's always the employees fault. Your expected to work over your 14 hours . Especially if your out of town. Witch is illegal. Not many drivers there with  any type of driving experience. But I see why. When you go threw as many employees as they do your bound to have to bring some over from mexico like they do . I'm so happy that they let me go when they did.

Typical day at work

Getting told on day 2 that I'm not fast enough and I need to keep up with the lifers.
Watching the forklift drivers smoke and talk on their phones while operating the forklifts, indoors and out. 
Avoiding being hit by forklifts because the lifers couldn't care less if you're standing where they want to go.
Holding a plastic wedge for said forklift driver to push into stacks of drywall with the end of the forks and wondering when I'll lose a hand.
Working through my paid breaks, not by choice, getting 20 minutes for my 30 minute unpaid break.
Being told I have to work OT.
That's a day at PAC WEST.

What did I learn?
I learned what a horrible place to work it is.

Work place culture?
90% I'm guessing are people with criminal backgrounds and literally can't get a job anywhere else. The other 10% are people desperate for work and bail ASAP.

Hardest part of the job?
The depression of realizing you're working at PAC WEST and wondering how you got to this point in your life.

The most enjoyable part of the job?
It's not the pay that's for sure. You're pay might or might not be there at any given time because they can't figure out direct deposit.
So I guess leaving for the day? But then you remember that you have to go back. 
So nothing.


All in all, you'd be better panhandling than working here.

The culture here is built on trust and teamwork. Our manager, Jamie, creates a professional yet approachable atmosphere where you feel backed up and valued. There is a strong sense of camaraderie between the yard and the inside sales team, bolstered by regular team lunches and a shared goal of taking care of the customer.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day involves a mix of fast-paced customer service, technical problem-solving, and constant learning. I transitioned from the yard to inside sales about 11 months ago, so my day is now focused on helping customers find the right materials for their projects and expanding my knowledge of the construction industry. It’s rewarding to see a project go from a list of materials at my counter to being loaded out in the yard.

PAC West throws you into work with people that don't think it's their job to train you, that don't want to train you, and expect you to do the job with no problems.  "If you damage anything, you will be fired," was the first thing the boss told me.

The lead hand in the warehouse is abusive and allowed to run wild. When I brought my concerns to management I was told "were going to deal with this, this time because we value you and we want you to stay, not like the last guy. (wait what)". None the less, no changes happened and this workplace is the perfect example of a toxic workplace and accidents waiting to happen.

I quit because I did not want to go to work wondering if I was going into a S**T storm every day.



I wouldn’t suggest working at Pacific West.  Pacific West swamper is a low paying job that expects you to work 60+ Hours Mon-Friday as well as Saturday with no set end of day time.  Nothing wrong with the company offering long hours, but I found the management of Pacific West to have zero respect for their hard working employees.  Pacific West is the type of company that would rather fire you at 5pm on a Friday after a 60+ hour work week because you asked to take a break for the rest of the day. Low pay, Zero respect for hard working employees, No room for advancement with fair wages. There was a gentleman there who worked for Pacific west for 9 years and only made $1 more an hour than the new guy. Screwed up in my opinion but whatever makes money for the boss. 

This place is Terrible amd everything is going personal if you are not one of the gang they will try to do anything to screw you 
The head office is blinded and know nothing about what is goin on in the warehouse and the management down act like they own the place and untouchable 
Just an advice .. do not apply there because they pay the lowest money and work culture is really Terrible 
The new managment is really awful and first time i see managment have no managment skills 
If you wanna work there you have to know that you will not last for long unless you say yes and be one of the gang even when they are wrong

I enjoyed my time at Pacwest because of the staff. Pacwest has a very old school work environment an culture, an a hand full of people that work there have bin with the company for many years.
Depending on what department you are hired for will depend on the difficulty of the job, but for the most part it’s easy to learn but can be long hard hours at times. 
Pacwest has the potential to be an amazing place to work, but the pay for the industry isn’t all that great an the benefits suck. Their is favouritism an random bull that happens within the Calgary branch that really shouldn’t in a professional environment.
All things considered, I would go back if given the right circumstances. 

The co-workers here are friendly and great. The work is hard, but fair. Biggest problem is management treats you as a disposable tool. I left for christmas break for two weeks and came back to not having a job, no appreciation for workers whatsoever, only two times they'll willingly spend money on their employees. Is during customer appreciation day once per year where they allow us to grab a steak that was originally meant for customers or the employees get a BBQ once a year, on costco/Kirkland signature patties. You ask for a raise, you'll be met with skepticism. Biggest advice for anyone wanting to work here;  use them like they use you, don't get too comfortable, or else they'll take advantage of you.

There is nothing so good about this place that if they offered me back a position for $30/h, that I wouldn’t offer them the chance to lick my balls to come back… Screw that!

Everything and more with so much less

Very diverse and minority kind of feel

Goof off, smoke while working operating forklift and inside the buildings common areas and no care for safety, creates lung breathing issues

Overall if you’re desperate for a job Pacwest is for you. Very hard work, tons of hours with a hand full of walking up stairs with drywall and downstairs. Guys are great to work with but the company is terrible and never willing to give raises to long term employees. Don’t even think about getting a raise maybe 3 years into the job. New management is horrendous and constant micro managing. Guys show up late everyday and drag the day along. Terrible manager = terrible employees.
