If you're hired as a welder you will typically be stationed on a production line along with a dozen other people turning sheet metal into wood stoves via MIG welding.

First the good:
Starts welders off at $20/hr (decent for an entry level job)
Welding for Pacific Energy is pretty easy
Management is really nice about teaching new hires.
They'll have all-expenses paid FR coveralls tailored for you.
They seem to take safety really seriously
The health+dental benefits are fantastic.
Pay cheques are direct deposit.

Now the bad:
Welders will find that the constant flat and vertical down welds get too easy (and boring) after a while. You can get your red book hours from here but you'll want to find somewhere else and gain real welding experience soon because of the next point.
They'll start you off at a good rate and (if you work hard) hand out a decent raise after 3 months but you'll never see another one like it again because they really cheap out on paying veterans. Experienced 10+ year workers barely make much more than the new hires which really says a lot about the kind of career advancement you can expect. 
Pacific Energy does not keep good welders much longer than a year or two because of this which results in a lot of pressure on the line workers as they struggle to meet quotas while constantly retraining new hires.

Great benefits and good salary for an entry level welding job. Just don't expect to go far if you stay. Overachievers are not rewarded.

Worked there for 3 months and at first it was okay but the lack of communication sucks and having people left and right tell you want to do and then say go do another. No one really can communicate they say the line changes everyday which it doesn’t. One thing they all need to learn is RESPECT all employees equally and learn to communicate better. It is a good but not good place to work. If you’re not working at the pace they want you to do or tell you what they want done your being watched like a thief they go talk to others instead of trying to help you become better or don’t even tell you what you need to work on. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Do yourself a favor. Don't apply here you get moved around alot. If someone assaults you they just move them or yourself to another department. It's great if you need temporary employment but you will get worked hard with absolutely no acknowledgement for your hard work. Don't say I didn't warn U.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No communication and when something is effective up we'll just blame who isn't here at the moment.


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long and very hot or very cold.

Management have no concept of how to appreciate a team  
No one will care about you because you are young 
They do not value you, and you are replaceable (they tell you this in orientation)
No competitive wages or option for a raise 
Everyone who has been there for longer than a year is miserable
It’s like a high school their are cliques and a bell tells you how to go about your day 
Over all pacific energy is a poopy helscape of a job that everyone says you have to start out in if you don’t have too don’t not worth your time or mental health 

Easy super easy don't even need a ticket or skills to get a job making at least like $18 now I think so thats good. would recommend for people getting out of C Level Welding so u can get some easy hours.
I had a blast working with my crew of friends getting up to no good on brakes lol. Management can be hit and miss they were not happy about me going back to school so they sent me to the back of the warehouse for my last month FML. Living on the island and making less then $20/hr your kinda screwed had to move on.

There were two things I liked about working at Pacific Energy. The 7:00-3:30 schedule and the people I worked with for the most part.  Other than that this place is a joke. There is absolutely no job security. RRSP matching doesn’t start until you have worked there for 3 years. The supervisors are spineless and miserable and have no problem with taking it out on their workers.
Inadequate ventilation, heating/cooling, lighting, and tools.
If you are looking for a positive rewarding job…this is not the place.  



At first it was an ok place to work. They don’t really do much for their employees (pizza day is about it). They don’t really care much for the workers. They just want products out. Too much favouritism. You don’t advance in the company. Too cold there in the winter, too hot in the summer. They say one thing then do another. They have a VERY HIGH turnover rate there. No acknowledgment or praise.

Sad to see things going downhill so quickly.  Since the company was bought out, things have changed for the worst.
Two-faced management.  Rampid favouritism. Some employees gets perks but others do not... There is no policy. Everyone says there will be no raises or bonuses this year.  Only the senior staff get paid fairly. Stay far far away. 

This company is run by children if the line isn’t running smooth everyone in management throws a fit at the employee/employees beneath them leading to the whole shop angry  most of the time they don’t train very well and still expect you to know what your doing they don’t pay very well and raises you can pretty much forget them 

Very stressful, as half the company aren't organized, and half the time there's nothing to do, the other half you break yourself literally to build stoves, so if you're that kinda person who can take a beating go ahead and try it out.
