Raises are based on time put into the company, rather than actual effort, resulting in workers who put in time being paid the same as workers who have put in the same amount of time and work diligently and try to improve the work place. Pay is increased regularly for the first 3 years, then no raise until 5 years, then raises are only every 5 additional years. 

Management seems to still be figuring out how to run a company, despite being in business for nearly two decades. 

Process leads get by on experience, and receive no additional training after promotion, and are largely self taught by their own motivation, receiving little support from actual management.

The average worker at PI is easy to get along with, and nearly all employees in a supervisor role do their best to accommodate workers and help where they can, despite lack of support from management.

Production regularly runs out of materials, due to lack of planning and flaws in scheduling, but operators in each area manage to find things to do to finish the day. 

Overall the company is ok  to work for if you don't mind being treated poorly and having little support from management. The other workers make up for it by being pleasant to work for, and having a good sense of humour. Work life balance is somewhat difficult for shift workers and planning days off with friends, but job security is great despite advancement opportunities being rare. Advancement seems to be based on who can be paid the least for a given role, which is unsurprising for a corporation of this size.

Given the local area, the job itself is stable and full time which puts it ahead of some of the nearby competition, despite the flaws of management.

Some people start out working hard and running the equipment very efficiently, but when a few people can get away with doing next to nothing and taking 20 minute bathroom breaks every hour with no consequences, the motivation to work drops very quickly.

Raises can come pretty quickly, and are based on time rather than effective work, with a level system implemented based on the learning instead which gives a small hourly premium. Employees who have worked at Pacific Insight for 10 years or longer are already capped at their hourly rate and do not benefit from the leveling system, and are paid less than the SMT workers who have only been around for two years.

Pacific Insight is good for short term work, but needs to adapt to be a good long term job.

A typical day at my current position is based on what you make of it. I work very hard and have a positive attitude which I feel makes a positive impact on my day.

I learned hard work will get you far in ones career. I learned what its like to be in a professional workplace.

I currently work a production management position it. This being professional to the people around you.

My current co-workers are great people. They are very pleasant to work with.

The hardest part about my current job would be the amount of travel i have to do.

The most enjoyable part about my current job is the fact that i enjoy working very hard. And being at my current job allows me to do so.

A typical day at work was multiple invoices being processed by me and the Controller.  What I learned is there are many DOS programs still out there.  As for management and co-workers, you give them respect and they return the favour.  The hardest part of the job, due to having to have signatures on all invoices, was that there was multiple plants and they strived to input invoices and process payment in a timely fashion.  The most enjoyable part of the job was I think the laughter around the office.

if you like bureaucratic he said she said bs with no support from upper management then this is the place for you !!! You will be treated as the slave you are and have the Corporation do what ever possible to take away your rights as a worker and pay you as little as possible.

Great co-workers, pristine environment, very short commuting times from all over the Kootenai's region. 
Plant exposed to frequent black-outs and other nature induced counterproductive events.
Very hard to get highly trained people or outside specialists during October-April, due to the unreliable Castlegar airport.

overall working here was a good experience, i got good hours good pay and met alot of people. i learned alot of new things. the only thing that was negative was the management, it seemed as if they were running it like they never did before at times but it was slowly improving overtime.

I worked a 12 hour shift at pacific insight and the jobs are very diverse. Some days it can be slow and hard to stay awake, other days it can be very fast and you can be on your feet for 12 hours. I learned a lot in this job from time management to patience with the  tedious work.

Pacific Insight Electronics Corp, was a great company to work for. This company gave me the tools and skills I have today. The culture environment at this organization is just great! and as an employee in this company your opportunities to growth personal and professional are excellent.

Good people and management but you are literally just a number to the company unless you are higher ranking then sometimes they won't even know your name
